  1. I saw a pair of Cornwalls in a pawn shop today that were in much worse shape than these are, but the owner wouldn't sell...Mentioned that a guy brought them and he was just holding them but didn't have room in the back, or something lame like that...It's times like this that I wish I had my old pickup and few days to spare. [:(]

  2. It was 1994, at Wilson Audio in Tucson. I guess I had heard of the Klipsch brand before that, but I had never really had the chance to experience them. No one in my family was into audio, so I didn't grow up with it. All my friends were into Bose, and my previous speakers had been a pair of Realistic Mach-1s mated to Yamaha electronics. After several months of searching, the Kg 5.5s were the first speaker my wife and I actually enjoyed listening to; very clear, dynamic, and alive. They're still as awsome today as the day I bought them!

  3. Good Guys was the only place around here to buy Klipsch. They had the Reference line. Best Buy's sells the Synergy line on their website, but I swore them off years ago so I don't know if they carry them in the store.

There is a audio store in Santa Rosa, Soundscape, that carries the Heritage line. I've been told they have a few pair for audition. According to the dealer lookup page, American Integrity Home Systems in Sacramento carries several lines.

  4. I want to put together a small vinyl system in my home office, which is 10' X 10', and I'm think of picking these speakers up along with a Pioneer PL-12DII table also up for sale. I always thought the Kg 2's came with a 10" passive radiator on the back, as in the picture in the discontinued area, but these don't have that. The seller doesn't know either. Did Klipsch make different versions? They don't look to me to be suspicious. Maybe someone can help me deciper the serial #'s, 3X256 and 3X257.

Maybe I should just hold out for a good pair of 2.5s, to get more bass? Of course, I won't be out much if these don't work.

  5. I originally posted this under my own thread, but then Colin told me about this one...

WOW, what a movie! Many folks have said it's too early for a movie like this, but I disagree. Actually, there was a made-for-TV version, but this one really blows it away. I came away with a new appreciation for what those folks did to defy the terrorists. I'd like think that I would have acted the same way, given the situation. I hope I never have to find out. I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone who might want to see it, so I won't go into to too much detail.

This film was incredibly well made. It was shot in a minute-by-minute, "you are there" kind of way. You kind of get the feeling that you are in the room with the air traffic controllers. I mean, we all know how the story ends, but to see the events unfold from the perspective of those involved was very interesting. I agree with Colin that everyone involved, from the FAA to the military, seemed wholly unprepared. Who ever thought something like this could happen? I read that the script was based on the actual investigation, and it seemed to be very detailed. There are no "big name" actors or actresses, and I was surprised to see that many of the military and FAA personnel inlvolved played themselves in the movie. All the acting was top notch! The refreshing thing was that the director did not try to tell me what to think about the whole thing; he just laid it out for the audience.

My parents talk about how they remember exactly what they were doing when they heard that JFK had been shot, and 9-11 will be forever etched in our memories as well. In the end, I guess everyone will have to decide for themselves if they are ready to see this movie. Like Ebert and Roeper, I give it a big "two thumbs up!"

  6. All,

This is a bit off-topic, but the wife and I caught an early matinee of "United 93" today, so I thought I would post my thoughts...

To top it off, 10% of the box office receipts for this weekend will go toward buidling a monument to the victims.

  7. Although I've always liked it, my wife says "Brandy", by the Looking Glass, is the suckiest song ever...

For my money, the prize goes to "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You", by Heart. Every time I hear that song I just want to vomit.[+o(]
