  1. That's an old perkins bin, not Klipsch
  2. Now that's a cool rig. Good thing there was nobody down below. -Matt
  3. Actually, after everybody pointing fingers at each other, we arrived at the conclusion that the door probably was not latched all the way and a bump in the road jarred it open spilling out what was on the end of the truck. What I could not believe was one of the subs was made of wafer-board, and one marine ply. Same thing with the 302's. A couple were wafer-board. If I remember correctly, the ones covered in rat fur were wafer-board. -Matt
  4. O.K. Here's one. ........ . . . . ... Leaving a gig in K.C. MO., headed to a gig in Rapid City S.D. Someone forgot to shut the back door on the truck. Four K.P. 302's, two K.P. 480's and a Hammond B-3 ended up tumbling on I-90 at 68 mph. Everything worked at the next gig except the B-3. It was in about 68 pieces. Quite an emotional moment to see a vintage organ spread out on the highway. The cabs were really beat up, but worked. -Matt
  5. I had 12 ea. KP 480,s and 8 ea. Kp 302's toured 31 states. Ahhh, the stories
  6. Can someone tell me what driver/diaphragm is in the kp 2000-c, and if it is still available? Thanks, Matt Jordan Maxxsounds audio co. Boise, ID
  7. I just sold my last Klipsch rig. 12 kp 480's and 6 kp 302's and 4 kp250's powered with 10 Crown macrotech 2400's. I used Klipsch boxes full time for live band reinforcement from 1995 until this summer. I am really sorry I let it go now. That rig is still being toured in the Pacific Northwest....I could always tell the other Klipsch fanatics....... they would come up to me w/ a big smile on their face....... and a story about what they have at home......... Best, Matt
  8. Sorry for the delay, I just got back off the road. The 302 and 3002 boxes I had up for sale here have all been sold. Thanks for all the interest guys and gals. The two boxes DO sound a little different, but not by much at all. One box is a little brighter than the other ( I can't remember which one ), and is probably due to crossover point differences since the box dimensions and the driver components are exactly the same. You really couldn't tell in a live music situation unless you knew what to listen for. In a quiet recording studio with recorded media, you probably would hear the difference. (that's where I heard it). I still have 10 ea. kp 480's up for sale for 300.00 each. Peace
  9. As a matter of fact, I did replace quite a few drivers and passives in the KP480's. I have 16 units in inventory. The units I spoke of on this site are now in a club install ..... Matt
  10. And who said comedy was dead? Seriously, I'll go open the warehouse tomorrow and do an inventory check on what I am liquidating. I'll have some prices then. I have a small sound and light co. here in Boise and I just upgraded to powered boxes. (easier for my application) Matt
  11. Make me an offer, this could be a good day for both of us. Matt
  12. I have 10 ea. KP 480's, and 4 ea. KP 302's, and 4 ea. KP3002's for sale In Boise, ID. The 302's are carpeted and the 3002's are painted. All in used, but excellent condition. All have extra (new) drivers, and passives. I can deliver. Photos available. Matt 208-703-5193
  13. Hi folks, I have some K.P. stuff I am thinking about letting go. 10 each. kp 480 subs, all in great working order with extra new drivers and passives. Four each kp 302 carpeted.boxes in great working condition, four each K.P.3002 painted boxes (essentially the same exact box). I have a small sound co. in Boise, ID. Everything is very well taken care of. anyone interested?
  14. Sorry, I don't have pics right now. The wedge is an EAW sm 155. Now discontinued. I could swear it's the same diaphragm that is in the klipsch 302. I looked on the site you provided. I didn't see any stand-alone diaphragms available. Maybe I missed somthing........Peace, Matt
  15. Could someone tell me the part number for the two inch driver diaphragm that is in the 302's/3002's? Do I have to buy it from klipsch, or is there an aftermarket part that can replace these? I just pulled the driver apart from an EAW monitor wedge and it looks like the exact same diaphram without the klipsch name on it. Thanks for your time, Matt Jordan, a klipsch FREAK
  16. Hi Joe, I have some kp 3002's, and some kp 302's that are taking up space in my garage. I have one pair of each. (I believe they are the same exact same box). I also have 8 kp 480 18" subs. I figured I would contact this forum before I put them up for sale. They are all in excellent shape, ready to rock, and ROCK they do[].......Matt Jordan
  17. Hi, I have been running eight of these boxes for about ten years. No x-over in the box. I use a rane ac 22 x-over. The literature states to cross at 200 hz, but I disagree with that. I cross at 120 hz, and with a graphic EQ pull ALL frequencies 50 hz, and below to minus 12 db. These boxes will not reproduce freqs below 40hz, and if you boost those freqs 50hz and below, you will just add harmonic distortion, and damage the drivers. If you follow this advice, these boxes will thump for a good long time. Oh. make sure you have at least 800 watts of power running to each box. Matt
  18. ---------------- On 10/17/2004 10:23:40 PM DrWho wrote: you might wanna check and see if some of the cabinets have airleaks in them...at higher SPLs, feel around (or listen if it's not too loud) for air blowing out of the corners or anything like that. The passive radiators extend the low frequency response by creating a state of resonation a little below where the active driver starts to roll off. This resonation would get screwed up if there was any kind of leak. btw, how different is the bottoming out between the cabinets? You may just be better off cutting out anything below say 50Hz instead or even just turning the amps down a notch. I know this sounds like a bad idea when you're trying to get more punch out of a system, but there are other ways to accomplish that. For starters, try throwing some short reverb on the kick and toms, or perhaps throw in a compressor between the crossover and the LF amps. You may also want to crossover at a lower frequency and give those subs even less to think about...your mains should be able to handle down to 80Hz no problem. ---------------- Hey, Thanks for the reply! I think the surrounds on the passives are just getting old. I pulled a couple out, and one had the spider ripped completely out. It is really difficult to find a "starting point" since these boxes are 5 to 10 years old, and have had many recone jobs done. I have purchased a couple of new passives, and installed them. It helped a little. The boxes just don't perform like they used to. The house EQ is at minus 6 db at 50 hz, and everything below that is dumped at minus 12 db. 60 hz is at plus 3 db, and flat all the way up to 4k. This is a country/rock band. We don't play THAT loud. Yes I did check phasing. Again, I am running EIGHT of those subs. The room holds about 350. They should be able to fill the room no problem. I need to find a reference point, so I know where these boxes are supposed to be! No air leaks, except where the jacks go in. Even with the passive that had the spider ripped out, no air leaks. I realize the passive wasn't doing it's job, and probably damaged the driver as well. It seems to me, there are too many variables in this box to run multiples of different stages of repair/recone. Thanks, any Ideas? Matt
  19. I have 8 kp 480's, and 4 kp 302's in a live band situation. Some of the 480's are bottoming out before others. Power is 6 each crown mt 2400's x-over at 120hz, house eq- anything below 40hz is at minus 12 db. Upon visual inspection the 18" drivers are not damaged, and pretty tight. The passives however, are a different story. some seem quite floppy, and others seem "tighter". The boxes are coming up on ten years old. Is there any way to tighten up these passives? I have no reference point to tell how tight they are supposed to be. The response of these boxes seems to be deteriorating. HELP!!!!!!
