  1. WOW...I did not realize they were so close Dim. wise. But the question to be asked...Is the Academy a better match from a sound/sonic/tembre perspective? I would think (and that is dangerous for me)that the Academy would be a better all around center speaker then the one Hersey or even two put together when matched to a Khorn or Cornwall speaker? Am I wrong or am I on the wrong track??????? I havent put a bid in yet...but...I am close along with 10,000 other guys.
  2. What to do...I also need an Academy to complete my Khorn...Cornwall...SVS HT System...My wife does not like the idea of Hersey's as a center channel...Way to big for her. She wants a smaller size speaker and this would match sonically. Why doesn't Klipsch manufacture a short run of these speakers? It looks like there might me a market for this particular speaker?
  3. Well guys... I'm now down to purchasing the TV for my HT System. Needless to say I have spent much more money on this system then I was planning to. As mentioned we are moving into a new house and I am setting the basement up for youth ministry and I wanted a system that would shake, rattle & roll the youth while we watched movies or listened to music. For those who have been following my progress I started with blank slate a little over a month ago. My system as of this point is made up of the following: Front Speeakers-Khorns Rear speakers-Cornwalls Center Speaker-Heresy but good chance I will be switching to a Cornwall Sub-SVS PB12 Ultra/2 Audio-Halo C1/A52 DVD-Denon 3910 TV-not selected. I realize that LCD and DLP is the new wave but with the money I have left that is allocated to my HT, I think I will go with one of the above TVs. Soooooooo...my questions to you Do you have any comments on the above TVs. One thing I do knowIf you all have a HT system then you have to have some form of TV/Projector. You help as always is appreciated. Thanks!!

Hey bbaisw ... How do you like your 57" Toshiba? I'm completing my HT system and I don't have enough funds to purchase a LCD or DLP TV soooooo...I'm looking at a 65" Toshiba or Mitshibishi (?)rear projection TV..How do you like your TV? I know most of you will say buy the LCD or DLP...well...I could have until I purchased the Khorns, Cornwalls, Denon 3910 and SVS PB12 Ultra/2 sub...Now if you all want to send money my direction I will be happy to invest it in my new HT System. HeHeHe Look on the bright side...at least I will have a large viewing area!!
  5. I will say this...when my wife first saw the size of these she was not overly impressed...Then I explained they would be in the basement with the HT system...She was more comfortable with that. She said; "I thought you were going to buy those little speakers?"...Wrong! Once I get these all set up she will be impressed. I hope?
  6. I guess I would check ebay and other similiar sights to see what speakers such as yours are selling for. Also set the price that you can live with. Just my .002 cents worth. Good Luck.
  7. Well after listening to you all on how a Cornwall would be a better balanced center speaker for my HT SystemI put a bid on a set thats for sale. If the offer goes through then I would pick them up verses having them shipped. With the prices that the Heresys are going for0ver $600 in some casesI thought I would try and purchase a set of Cornwalls and use the one for the center speaker and store or sell the extra speaker. This way I will have Khorns on fronts and the other three speakers will be Cornwalls. The sub is a SVS PB12 Ultra 2. Can we say BOOM..BOOMBOOM!! Time will tell if I get these speakers. What is a fair price for a set of Cornwalls? I have been watching ebay and these seem to be more in line dollar wise than the Heresys at the present time. Then again an item is worth what someone is willing to pay. I wish I had a barn full of Heresys for some of the prices they are going for. Thanks again guys for all you help. My system is made up of the following so far: Halo C1/A52 Khorns fronts Cornswalls rears Centerin process Sub SVS PB12 Ultra 2 Denon 3910 TVnot selected yet My savings accountEMPTY!!!
  8. OOOOOPS!!! I spoke with fork tongue...I purchased a 3910...The 5910 is way out of my league... Maybe in my next life I will be able to afford a 5910...At least that's what my wife says?? HeHeHe
  9. Never mind...I just purchased the 5910...It should match very nicely with the Parasound gear.
  10. Well...I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the purchase of a DVD player and I'm down to the 2910 or the 3910...Unless someone can inform me of a better player for the money. The more I read about the features of these two units...the more confused I am getting. I also know one gets what one pays for. Soooooooo...what say ye Masters of the HT universe...Educate and Direct me into the way that I should go. Thanks Again...
  11. Haven't fired them up yet...We will be moving Nov. 27th...The Khorns will be placed in the basement of the new house where they will be part of a HT system...Since eveything is boxed up...or it hasn't arrived (ie:Halo equipment)...I will wait to hook everything up when I get them set up in the new house. I consider this an early Christmas present. Then my son and I will expeience a whole new world of sound.
  12. My son came over today to look at the Khorns...Needless to say he was speachless...Enough said...
  13. All speakers are vintage mid 80's... As they say..."Olden is Golden"...or something like this?
  14. Thanks for the update... First of all...I have a 5 channel system... I will have to play around with my Heresy's but if the Y will work I will use both my speakers for the Center Channel. My initial concern was the Khorns would overpower the Heresy's but with the Halo system I thought I would be able to adjust all speakers so they would all blend together.
  15. Thanks for the update... I will have to play around with my Heresy's but if the Y will work I will use both my speakers for the Center Channel. My initial concern was the Khorns would overpower the Heresy's but with the Halo system I thought I would be able to adjust all speakers so they would all blend together.
  16. Well I picked up my Khorns last night and I never realized how big these speakers are. I have an Extended GMC Envoy and there wasn't much spare space left after I got them loaded up. If the sound matches their size...I'm going to be in music heaven. Now I can't wait to pick up my Cornwalls. Now I need to buy a Heresy for the center speaker and I will be set. Oh yes...My sub will be a PB12-Ultra/2... Question...Does owning Klipsch's speakers make one a "NOTE-WORTHY" person?
  17. Crazy Poster... From the various emails I have received it has been suggested that it is better to go with one Heresy then to connect a pair...This is the reason I was going with a single speaker. I would be interested in splitting a pair... You can email me and we can disuss this further if you are interested.
  18. I continue to be educated in the class of Klipsch 101 on the qualities and characteristics of the Heresy verses the Academe speaker. After several emails it seems that either speaker would do me fine for a center speaker. As posted before this center speaker will be matched with Khorns and Cornwalls so I want to get a good timbre match. Thus being further educated by those who kmow much more than I on these fine speakersThe question is...Does anyone have a good single Heresy for sale? I would hate to have to buy a pair and use only one of the two. Again thanks for your support as I continue to get educated into the Klipsch family and I slowly get my HT put together.
  19. Thanks scooter... The reason I was considering the Academy was from other post...They seem to be highly regarded as a center speaker...I do have a set of Heresy's but I think I will try and get another single Heresy so I don't have to split them up. Thanks for you input.
  20. I KnowI Know...Me another 5000 other guys want an Academy to round out the HT System. But I have high HOPES!!!I started off about 2 months ago without any HT equipment. I decided to build a GREAT HT system which I will use for the Youth Ministry. Sooooooo...after starting with a clean slate and using my own money...This is where I presently stand: Front Mains...Khorns Rears...Cornwalls Sub...SVS PB12 Ulra 2 Halo C1 and A52 Amp DVD...Haven't purchased yet... TV...Haven't purchased yet... Center Speaker...Heresy...but what to go with an Academy Center Speaker I know...I KnowI have spent a lot of money...Dont remind meWell I think the kids are worth it!!!!!! So much with keeping in my budget...Wisdom never was/is one of my strengths. If any of you run across an Academy I would appreciate a heads up. I am watching ebay and some other places but I dont have the computer time needed to keep up with all the stuff thats for sale. Thanks Again for all your great advice as I have now got the foundation of an HT system that should rock the socks off the kids. HeHeHe
  21. Thanks guys...I appreciate the feedback...Sounds like I might pass on this system. Thamks Again!! Regards, Dewayne
  22. I have a chance to purchase a Hafler DH-500 pre/pro set up for about $600. Is this a fair price? Is Hafler good equipment? This gear is to be in EC to mint condition...I don't know much about this manufacture so I thought you all could educate me. Thanks in advance!
  23. Welllllllllll.... Now I've done it. After two lengthly but very informative conversations with Brent I purchased the Halo C2 and A52 amp. Brent was very willing to spend time on the phone discussing the pros and cons of various units in question. Yet I appreciated that Brent was always positive about the competition. I wish more sales people were as congenial as Brent. The gear that I was considering was the following: Outlaw B&K NAD Carey Audio Rotel Anthem Parasound...being the winner. Now I have to decide on the TV? Rear Project tube...LCD...or DLP? What to do???What to do???
  24. mmiles...Insane Poster Hey I just sent you a PM... I was just about to purchase either an Anthem or Rotel...but now I wonder? Which is the better bang for the buck??? HELP!!!!!!
  25. Already have...Audio= Mcintosh C39, MAC3, MR7082 6 channel and thx upgrades I have an opportunity to purchase the above CD player/changer. Is this a good deal? Or should I buy a new CD/DVD player? This unit is like new condition... Your suggestions are appreciated... Thnaks
