  1. Anybody tried a 5751 in their Blueberry?

I have a pair of Rayhteon 5751 windmill getters in my Fisher 400 and I might just have to pull one out and try one in my Blueberry.

I have a Amperex 6dj8 pinch waist in my Blueberry and it's not noisy at all, thank goodness. I didn't notice a whole lot of difference btween the pinch waist and the Siemenss Cca.

  2. With my VRD's so far the Ei Kt-90 type 2's are the best sounding output tube I've tried. First I had the Valve Art KT-88's that came with the amps, then EH KT-88's. But the Ei's have more body and the bass is better and the overall sonics more pleasing. I have heard that the Valve Art KT-88 Cryo treated tubes are supposed to be great. www.tubeman,com sells them.

I bought two quads of the Ei type 2's off Epay recently.

I sold one of the quad of Ei's to someone who bought the cryo treated tubes, in a week or so he'll let me know how the Ei KT-90 type 2's compare to the cryo treated Valve Art 88's,he also bought the KT-88 cryo treated from the tubeman. . Unfortunatley the Ei type 2's and type 1's are scarce. The type 3's are unpredictable.

I can't comment on the GEC 88's ask Smilin he had some. Too rich for my blood.

  3. I just bought a used Crystal Piccolo silver IC off Audiogon, took 5-days to get it from New Zealand. It's my first silver IC,strings and some vocals sound a tad bright. Do silver cables burn in?

  4. Hey Heritage Bob,are you in Charlotte?,I'm in Gastonia, stop by sometime!! I have VRD's too. Klipsch Chorus II's and Horn shoppe speakers. I don't have anybody to play with. So please stop by for beer and tunes!! I just got a quad of Ei KT-90 type II's for my VRD's!

    Cheers,

  5. Well my Chorus II's are happier with a restored Fisher 400 more so than the Marantz 2250b,so said my Chorus II's and my ears. Well the Fisher 400 tube reciever is in our entertainment center,I leave the pocket doors open of course when playing the Fisher but I would like to place a small cooling fan in the back. I don't think I need a silent fan, just quiet. Where can I get the fan?. I prefer one already wired up and ready to plug into the wall.

  6. Howdy,

I bought a refurbished Fisher 400 tube receiver and it's sitting, well placed, under my turntable Target platform shelf and the tubes are warming up my Neuance patform shelf. The Nueance is made of a formica covering. What type of tape can I put under the neuance shelf to deflect the heat some. Should I look in the automotive parts store?

  7. Hello-I love my Sennheiser PX-100's,not noise cancelling, but over the ear. Amazon.com has good prices on them and at www.headroom.com. Folks at www.head-fi.org are a giant wealth of info, they know EVERYTHING about headphones and very nice too, also check the classifieds at Head-fi. It's a great forum for headphones. A pair of Sennheiser 580's on Head-fi classifieds now for $120 shipped. I used to own the Senn 650's very comfortable headphones for me,but to neutral or veiled sounding to my ears, I switched to Grado RS-1's,which for me were closer to the Klipsch sound.

  8. I've bought a Butt Load of CD's off Amazon,ZERO problems, all sellers that I've bought from have shipped asap. Plus it's easy to manage your account with Amazon. Steve Hoffman forum iclassifieds is a good site for used CD's and Vinyl too,but you have to post 21 times or more to be able to post in the classified section. I've bought several DCC Gold and out of print cd's from SH members and have been very happy. But stuff sells real fast there, usually late at night!

Plus I've bought several mofi cd's off Amazon and DCC Gold,a couple I've aksed the seller if they would lower the price and a few have. Never hurts to ask.

  9. I had the TAD-150 hooked up to the Cayin TA-30 for a few weeks, the Cayin was full Bizzy Bee modded. I coudn't kill my ground loop problem and gave up! The Tad-150 w/remote is cool but I was told to trun up the volume up all the way on my Cayin TA-30 to short-out the volume pot, that caused big problems for moi! Gawd awful ground loop noise, especially with high effeciency speakers like the Chorus II's.

Paul at 2baudio.com is wonderful to buy from! Honest, kind and a pleasure to talk to.

I quickly sold the TAD-150 on Audiogon then shortly after the Cayin.

  10. Hi Charlieboy,

I'm in awe of u'r VPI table. I have a VPI HW-19 MKIII with Rega RB300 arm incognito wired, dyna 10x5 cart. I'm thinking about upgrading to the MK IV platter and SAMA motor, but I need to save up the $moola. Would I notice a huge difference with the upgrade?

  11. I bought a matched quad of Ei KT-90's type 2's off Ebay, well 2-quads,one as a spare. They arrived today. Type 2's are the better made ones. These are doing great so far. Sound is great! deeper bass, sweeter highs and the mids are more plush.Overall richer sound. Before I was using EH kt-88's ,the Ei's type 2's don't blow the EH's out of the water but they are a very nice improvement.

    Cheers,

    Robert
