Crown is a good amp. I've owned their DC-300A, DC-300A Series II, Power Line Three; and PS-400. They have a tremendously high damping factor which works well with acoustic suspension speaker systems. I think McIntosh's autoformer sounds better with Klipsch horn-loaded -- IMO -- so I got rid of all my Crown when I went back to Klipsch.

ygmn: How could it be better? That's what I thought when I was using my little Sony in the auto and the house. The difference is in the improved DAC in the Polk and, yes, it is better.

You'll probably need an external antenna. Polk sells an antenna extension cable. I have never been able to receive without an external. Could be because there may be no ground based repeater station in my area. Tried to find the answer to this from XM but they said that information was "classified". Imagine that! And they aren't even Department of Defense.

I have the Polk XM Tuner. Best $300 I've ever spent. But there are may other companies now making excellent in home XM tuners -- you might shop around. Take a look at Serius as well. While I have XM, I think I like Serius programming better.

I've owned Quad ESL-63 speakers. They were great in certain respects. Great imaging. Reproduced the most delicate and subtle sounds in a recording. On the minus side: pretty thin bass and the electronics were "fussy". Switches on the speakers kept going bad and grounding was always a problem. You MUST have a good grounding system or you get nothing from you speaker. I finally got tired of fooling with them and sold them.

I was just there about a month ago. Unless it's a Klipsch sponsored event with an entre into the factory, there's not a lot to see. When/if Klipsch sponsors a gathering in Hope count me in; however, sponsoring an event to the level we experienced in Indianapolis is fairly costly. I would not expect Klipsch to do this more than once a year.

I use a McIntosh 2105 with my K-Horns and alternate using a McIntosh 240. Both amps are in great condition and to tell the truth they both sound very much alike.

Drove up to Goshen, IN (near Elkhart) and picked up a pair of 1990 K-Horns yesterday. Boy these things are MINT! Not a scratch or blemish of any kind. I thought $2300. was a killer price for these too. And boy, do they ever sound great. Now I REALLY have to sell my LaScalas -- the place is getting cramped for space!
By the way, original boxes and packing came with these K-Horns. I'll offer the boxes and packing free to anyone who can pick them up within a week (no shipping). Otherwise, I'll have to through the boxes and packing away because I just don't have room to store them. Dayton, OH area. Email me if you're interested.

If the code 8P293 is on the cabinet it would have been manufactured in 1976. If it's on the driver, that's another matter. Driver codes: 9429 would be 1994 the 29th week. By the way, you can replace the cloth if it is worn or torn. Cane is more expensive and more difficult to find but it's out there.

JMON, the crossovers should work in the K-Horns; however, I sold the LaScala's originals to Bob Crites. I do have a pair of AB crossovers which came out of my Belles. But the LaScalas really sound great with the new A/AA crossovers so I'll sell them that way unless the buyer prefers the AB.

Just returned from the Klipsch Pilgramage. Had a great time but also REALLY got the hots for a pair of K-Horns. Drove home, flipped on the computer and brought up Ebay. There they were;

So now I have to sell my LaScalas with a brand new set of A/AA crossovers by Bob Crites. I offer them here before putting them on Ebay. Paid $1250. for them and then added Bob's $265. crossovers. For a forum member I'd let them go for $1250 and through in the new crossovers.

I've owned both Klipschorn and Bose 901. Still have Klipsch (Belle and LaScala). Reluctantly parted with my corner horns 20 yrs ago when I was moving every few years with the Air Force. I'm now in the market for a nice pair of Klipschorns. As for the Bose....interesting concept, good try, but I've never looked back.

The Chamber of Commerce has the front office leading to the museum. I showed up around 9 a.m. on a weekday and they were open. Probably open until about 4 or 5 pm but closed during lunch hour (12-1).

My favorite embarrassment when I first got clipless pedals was to pull up to a stop sign and forget I was clipped in. One driver rolled down his window and asked if I were hurt. My response, "Only my pride." You'll get used to the pedals. Just lessen the tension until you get used to them. Actually, if you have a serious crash, you're probablly better off clipped in. At least you won't stick out your foot and get you ankle broken like a friend of mine did while wearing tennis shoes. Enjoy your cycling!
