any pics of the stands that you built for them?

Whatever you do, dont be the first one to get it.. unless its been previewd by a ton of review sites. Look at reviews for the samsung 841.. tons of issues, same with the denon 1910. Then again you might get lucky if it turns out to be just like it says on paper. If you can wait a bit let the brave ones buy it and see what happens. Whats your budget like? If you can afford the denon 2910 id go with that.. great unit overall and a universal.
-
Ive got one. Very good dvd player for the price. (I didnt wanna spend 500+ on the denon 2910 with bluray so close by)
Theres a couple of running threads on it on avsforum, you should prob read thru those and decide urself. Personally I wanted something to tide me over till bluray comes out. 1080i looks great on my 42" sony.

I have my heresys hooked to my NAD 2200.. they sound great to me

Wow...
these speakers kick the shiznitz out of my sf3s for 2 channel audio.
Mclean/tysons area... still a fugly mess around rush hour.. thats when I try to hit the gym.. between 5-7pm.. its the biggest parking lot in VA

Already picked them up.. they were in great condition, still havent hooked them up yet.. need to find space in the living room
-
saw that... checking them out today

Ive had pretty good luck sofar with my HK AVR 330. Very warm sound, lots of power and good feature set. I bought my receiver a little while back for 400 shipped, refurb from the harman kardon online store.
-
Ive often wondered this as well.. it cant cost that much to implement something like ethernet to transfer data.. im sure 100bt is more than adequate for any of todays current audio needs. I can buy a 100bt card for my computer for 5 bux.. it cant be that expensive. Id love to be able to run cat 5e or 6 as my interconnects.

I second the vote on the older nad amps. I have a 2200 PE hooked up to my SF3s, plenty of power.. very warm amp. and only 160 bux used at the local a/v shop.. later I found out it was a steal of a price

I thought bass was like sex.... never can have too much!
-
Im using an avr330 with my sf3s.. no complaints here.. plenty of power. I turned it up to say -10db just as a test.... scene was from the Matrix, revolutions.. when the sentinels just broke into the dock and the apcs start to shoot.. lots of punchy bass.. I played the scene for say 1.5 minutes.. very loud.. very clear. My upstairs neighbor came down and commented on it.. said it was vibrating/rattling all the stuff in his condo.
thats with a rated 55w-65 per chan.
I just upgraded my mains with a Nad 2200.. 100w per channel with 6db of head room..... BOOM!

yeah the SC-1 is too small.. i was recently running my sf3s with the sc1, wasnt a good match. I would have bought an sc3 if I could have found one at the local best buy, but most of them in my area were out.
vanns.com sells the sc3 for 260. Ive got a bastardized sf3 as my center right now.

The athena AS-F2 floor standers are great speakers.. its a shame Best buy isnt carrying them anymore. If you can still find a set they were closing out at around 300 or so for the pair. Dont bother looking for them in the NoVA area tho.. my friend bought them all
The athena B2 bookshelf and their center channel are also great sounding speakers for the money.
-
Yeah, i was considering making the huge enclosure to match the SF3.. but I wanted to try this first. If anything its only 15 bux in mdf.. that would be my loss if it doesnt sound good.... but it sounds great! I still have yet to mess with the crossover and do a freq response test with it. Im keeping the box unfinished and in a jury rig state till im completely satisfied with the sound.. then ILl go ahead and make it asthetically pleasing.
if anything it looks really intimidating in its unfinished state
and yeah.. that tv is is state of the art.. had it imported directly from japan. It does well holding up the 40+lb monstrosity.
-
Dunno if they are still in stock, but the older Synergy speakers at best buy are being cleared out.. demo models n such.
I was able to get:
pair of sf3s 400
pair of sf2s 200
pair of sb3s 80
pair of sc.5s 45
one sf3 130
one sc-1 100
"The HSU Research STF-2 is comparable in quality (downfiring however, and made in China) for about $50 less."
As far as quality issues with stuff made in china such as the hsu subwoofer and synergy series it shouldnt be an issue.
I believe that everything comes from china... I think its just assembled here and tested here. I know that when I tried to order a pb10 from svs awhile back, they said that it was backordered and that the first batch of enclosures from "China" were all spoken for and that I would be on the list for the 2nd batch.
For the sub, id definately skip on the lower end klipsches and go for the PB10 or HSU STF2.

posted new pics up...
Ive built the enclosure and have it jury rigged right now, its up and running. Just watched lotr return of the king... all I can say is.. wow! beats the crap outta my sc1.
I set the center for large just to test it out, shut off my mains and sub. I then watched about half of the movie.. gosh.. it was like I didnt need my mains. There was plenty of bass.. well, whatever bass there was in the center track it replayed it quite nicely. The growling from those huge flying things and the general kaboom/crash type effects were very convincing.
I still have work to do on the box, minor stuff.. cosmetic stuff will be saved for last.
So far not bad for a center thats still way under the 200 dollar mark.

I was thinking of possibly reverse engineering the crossover in my existing sc-1, unless of course someone would let me borrow their rc7 crossover But again.. Im still just pondering all of this trying to see if its really worth my time/effort. I still got 27 days to return the speaker.. or maybe keep it and find its match to make it my side surrounds. At the price I got it for, its really hard to let it go.
Crystal method rocks

in a futile attempt to build a timbre matching center.. I bought an open box sf3 from BB for uber cheap. For starters I went ahead and gutted the poor speaker.
Should be an interesting project
www.allanbautista.com/sf3 <-- pics
so far my plan is to redo the baffle so the arrangement is woofer/horn/woofer
maybe upgrade the internal wiring.. most definately build a shelf for it as it looks like it would crush my tv
I could just buy an rc3.. but wheres the fun in that?

if your local you can bring whatever music, amp.. etc and we can hook it up and you can listen to em, I dont mind at all.. just cant turn it up too loud.. id have to check to see if the upstairs neighbor is around.. if he aint.. we can let em blast.
