  1. I'm getting fed up with the bad Win2000 drivers for my Vortex 2-based card, and I was thinking of grabbing myself a GameTheater XP to sit with my 4.1s, but I've heard that CD audio is only reproduced through the front two speakers on the XP... Does anyone have any suggestions? (Preferably not involving Media Player 7 or hardware mods). Remember that I'm running Win2000, rather than 9x or ME. Thx everyone.
  2. Here's a little story. In my animation studio over here in England, I sit at one end of the studio and one of the other directors sits at the other end - about 60ft away. My workstation has a set of ProMedia 4.1 speakers plugged into it, his has the DigiTheater DTS (both cost about the same over here - around £300-350). Which system do the animators prefer to listen to? 4:1 it's the ProMedias.
  3. Aah! I was wondering if my 4.1 sub was some incredible freak with it's master power switch on the back, now I know 'For code reasons'?
  4. quote: Originally posted by Senseless8: There is no power switch on the back of the sub for the 4.1's. That is ONLY found on the 2.1 set. You've got the 4.1's bud, so relax. Um... well this is my 4.1 sub...
  5. Yes, if your TV has a line-out system, (usually in the form of a dual RCA port) you can get a Y-connector with two male RCA ports on one end and a single stereo 3.5mm jack on the other end, then plug the jack into your auxilliary input port on the side of the promedia control pod.
  6. Woke up this morning to find a yummy new set of ProMedia 4.1 speakers arriving at my door... Been waiting since the release of v2.400 for a set of ProMedia over here in the UK, and now I've got em These replace my old Boston Acoustics MediaTheater... which someone was asking about in another topic here, and my verdict? The ProMedias and the Bostons are in a totally different league. There really is no comparison. The first thing that struck me about the ProMedia system (after I nearly killed myself with the volume... I was totally unprepared for the noise these suckers pump out,) was the fantastic sound field they produce. With the Boston speakers, even with the surround speaker attached, it was very easy to close your eyes and point exactly to one of the speakers as the source of the sound. When I tried the same with the 4.1s (even with the rears turned right off, tobe fair to the Bostons), I ended up pointing in completely the wrong place. These are the most 'invisible' multimedia speakers I have ever heard. I'm currently going through a few of my favourite CDs and DVDs, listening to choice pickings, and I am repeatedly taken aback as as the vocals kick in, or the music reach a bridge, and the ProMedias paint yet another layer of sound across the air. Love them (much nicer than those icky Digitheater DTS speakers I played with last week...)
