  1. I am currently running Polk Audio RTi/12 front, CSi6 Center, F/XiA6 Surround all powered by a JBL Performance Series AVA7 amp and AV1 processor. Room size is approximately 14x22. We enjoy most movies, and most music(everything from heart pounding Metallica to Beyonce and beyond). I have always been a 'best of both worlds' kind of guy. I love to feel/experience the movies/music, but I also want it to be clear and precise. I'm not looking to build anything. Budget is probably $1k-$2k. Finish isn't AS important, because the current sub is tucked away in the corner, but obviously something that looks nice would stand out a little more. I know how my SW-12 sounds now...great... It has a 12" driver, a 12" passive radiator, and I believe a 150W amp. I don't want to sacrifice anything either. You know you're getting old when you can say "they sure don't make things like they used to..." I had some old Rockford Fosgate amps sitting around that I decided to part with. Later I decided to upgrade my car stereo, and bought a new RF amp. I wish I never got rid of the old stuff! I can honestly say that I think the old amps threw out a lot more power and sound than the new one.
  2. I have a circa 1993 SW-12, that is still pounding. With all the new subs that are out, would I be gaining anything by replacing it? I believe the specs on it are 150watts, 12" driver with a 12" passive radiator. I see new subs with 1000 watts! There are too many choices now. I mostly use it for home theater setup, but also enjoy ALL types of music, from rattle the house booming to hard hitting rock and roll. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. I have an SW-12 that I bought new around 1993-94. I had it hooked up with the speaker-level inputs because my receiver didn't have a sub-out. Since then, I purchased a Dolby Digital receiver that has the Sub-out. I hooked up the line-level input with a Y-adapter, because the receiver only had one output, but I didn't get any sound(after reading through my receiver's manual, I think I didn't have it set up right...). Either way, I started playing around with the level control on the sub, and as I turned it up, I heard a thump, and now it doesn't work at all. Any ideas? The local Authorized Dealer said it will be $275 just to look at it!!
