  1. Because of the way the living room is layed out I wont be able to use the cornwalls, the TV will take too much of the room. I did see the klipsch HD theater 500 on craigslist which might work, I want to keep the cornwalls but will have to store them for a period of time.

  2. Thanks for the reply, I've not been on the forum here for a few years. The room will be about 12x15, small house, the budget will be slim, I dont want to spend more then 2K really, but might if I buy the components separately. What I really need is a bit of direction for home theater systems, THX? Dolby? whats stable, whats obsolete, what do I need to look out for while shopping for components, The room is going to be small so I dont want huge speakers. are some of the wireless systems worth looking at or is the sound crap?

  3. The HT I have is old and finally died the other day so it got tossed and I sold off the old speakers, So; I would like some ideas for a nice home theater system. the only speakers I have currently have left is a pair of Cornwall Verticals that I picked up some years ago, the problem is I'm moving next month and the living room is much smaller and there wont be room for them. I can store them but I'm considering selling them in order to buy a new HT system. The TV is a 52" sony Bravia. I havent looked at HT stuff in years so I'm starting to do my homework and thought I'd ask here for some idea's.

  4. lol, yea some people should never touch a paintbrush or spraycan. I have a pair of cornwall II's that were my ex father-inlaw's. He slapped a coat of black paint and put wheels on them, he used them in a DJ business years ago. They are chipped and dinged so when I have the time and money I'll refurbish them.

  5. I use auctionsniper, I find that if I use ebay's proxy bid there are those that will constantly nickle and dime the bid up till you hit your limit. This practice is used by the seller using multiple ebay id's to push the price of their product up, Its not accepted by ebay but sellers get away with it.

The good thing about auctionsniper is you don't have to keep hitting the page to see what the price is or if your still the highest bidder. so the page counter won't go up quickly. If I see a page counter climb I know others are looking at this item and the bidding may get hot.

With a snipe bid program I just but the max amount I want to bid on the item but it will only bid that amount in the last 4 or 5 seconds so it works the same as a proxy bid but keeps the loosers from nickling me to death.

  6. Let's see here...

John has an ex-father in-law, Mike has an ex-brother in-law, and they both live near Orlando.

    Hmm... Posted Image

Any relation? LOL j/k guys. [;)]

LOL, You So Funny! My ex=father in-law moved back to NY thank GOD!!!!!! and the ex-wife is moving back there this week! Hmm, Maybe I should be having a party! [:D]

  7. I have a pair of Cornwall II's, CBR, that were my ex father inlaws. He used them for years in a DJ business, painted them black and put wheels put on the bottom for rolling around. They have scuffs and small chips from the veneer. I wanted to restore them but simply don't have the time or space for such a project. I will take pictures this weekend. I'd like $500 you pick up, I don't have the time to deal with shipping. I'll hold them if you need time, I'll drive a couple hours to meet half way. Im located near Orlando, FL

  8. Huh, I knew my ears were burning but thought it was from the girlfriend! The 22nd is out for me, I'm playing favorate uncle while my sis spends the day in tampa doing finals. So while you all are enjoying fine wine and music, I shall be learning the finer points of Ninja Turtle martial arts, [:D]

A quick note, If anyone local is interested I have a pair of Cornwall II BR that I got back from the ex-wife,they were painted black and they need a good restro project done on them. I don't have the time to work on them, Besides my new house is much smaller and I cant use both these cornwall II's and my decorator cornwalls, so I'll let someone who can or would like a pair to restore have them for a song. err well a good price, not sure I want to hear some of you sing [;)] $400

Im located in Poinciana but might could get them up to oviedo on Friday the 21'st

  9. The little marker lines are worn off on the inside knobs so I didn't see it since I am working around the house and using music in the background...while playing a couple more CDs, I noticed that the sound wasn't as nice as the last 2 days...took a closer look and...SHAZAM (said Billy Barty)...the sound and detail were back...sorry for the confusion...time for me to sit in the corner with my dunce cap on...AGAIN! Bill

hehe! Shazam? and he knows he's real identity, showing your age there [;)] Its all good though, Don't sit in the corner though, it sound better if you sat in the middle of the room, no dunce cap.

  10. hey thebes thanks for the post

very thoughtful !! seems you understand what i'm thinking

i'm looking for something recent and decent new stuff doesn't seem to have the output transformers but at least the newer stuff isn't 40 years old if i want an old pain in the butt i'll go out to the garage work on my 64 sl

i don't know how many belles, lascalas and khorns are out there but i can't believe someone hasn't built an amp that perfectly matches the big klipsch speakers

Lots of belles, lascalas, khorns and cornwalls out here! but in the advances of sound systems SS became more mainstream and speaker systems changed because of it. IMO nobody has built an amp that matches the big klipsch speakers lately because they were all built 40 years ago! With that said you could look into a small zen amp by decware, or the mini might mono amps by Quicksilver. Spend some time browsing audiogon and see whats out there.
