  1. Whoa! I didn't mean to open a can of worms here with my post. Obviously, some of you are much more schooled in the art of acoustics than I. Maybe I was a little to broad in my original question. I guess what I am trying to do is get some guidance on what I can do to my existing room without going overboard financially, or without bringing in an acoustic engineer. I don't expect perfection, I just want to get a bit more out of what I currently have. The room size is 12.5'W x 16'L x 10'H. Drywall with carpet. Will probably be putting in one row of 4 Coaster Studio theater seats. My equipment is: Rotel 1095 Amp Rotel 1066 Processor Fronts: KLF-20 Center: RC-3 Surrounds: RS-3 Subwoofer: JBL 125 watt(Next on upgrade wish list) Sony DVD player 2-Sony 400 disc Cd chgrs. Please comment pro or con, on what you might suggest in the way of treating the room for a good balance soundwise between HT and music. By the way, I love this forum, even though I have not posted much. Thx, Larry
  2. First, I tried a search on this but got nothing. When treating a room, what are the main differences when you are treating a "dedicated HT" versus a room where you do both, ie..theater and music? I currently use my system about 50% for each. I guess I am looking for what might be a good compromise for both. I am talking about an existing room, not one being built. Thx, Larry
  3. Ok, I picked up the speakers from the dealer today and told them I would attempt this fix myself. Didn't want to ship them back to Klipsch after reading the nighmare shipping thread here. He was on the phone with the Klipsch rep and he said they had no problem with me doing this. My question is, what is the best way to get the back off? Do I need to remove the woofers and heat it up with a hair dryer from the inside and out, then tap on it from the inside gently with a rubber mallet? Is there going to be any problem with the crossovers as far as removal?Input appreciated! Thx, Larry
  4. Thanks for the info. Speakers are still under warranty, but I think I will do this fix myself.
  5. I was lisetening to some bass intensive music(Perfect Circle) last Friday, and all of a sudden I hear the most god-awful racket coming from my left front speaker. I immediately turned off the system, and switched speakers to confirm it was the left speaker, and not the processor or amp. Anyway, I took it to my dealer on Saturday and he called today and said the wires had come off one of the woofers (not the cause of the weird sound), and that also the back of the speaker cabinet had come loose and was vibrating when a certain low note was played. He has a call in to Klipsch to see what to do next. While relieved that it was not a blown speaker, I am concerned about the back of the cabinet coming apart. Is this something common in this speaker model? I tried a search but came up empty-handed. Any of you guys point me toward more info? Thanks, Larry
  6. Bump. Just want to know if things worked out???
  7. Yeah, I wanted the KSP-S6 as well to match with my KLF-20's. Couldn't ever find any. Ended up getting a good deal on Ebay on some used RS-3's. Sound great to me, but that's just my opionion. Others here will say to get another pair of 20's for the rear. Not a bad idea if you have the room and bucks I guess. Good luck!
  8. I have the 20's, driven by a Rotel 1095 amp and Rotel 1066 processor, along with an RC-3, and RS-3's. I couldn't be happier with these speakers. They literally "rock the house."
  9. Wow, thanks for all the replies.....been out of touch the last couple of days finalizing details for closing on the new house. I am using a Rotel 1095 amp and Rotel 1066 processor, which I think goes great with the KLF-20's. I think I have ruled out on going with a floor standing spkr. Just not enough room. Really leaning towards the RB-35, since I listen to a lot of SACD as well. As far as timbre match, I think I've come to the conclusion that I probably can't tell the difference anyway, since I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears...probably from too much rock&roll back in the 70's...LOL)
  10. Yeah, I would like to have another pair of KLF-20's, but would probably have trouble passing the WAF...lol. Would the 35's timbre match OK with the 20's?
  11. Moving to a new house in about a month. I currently have the Legend 20's for the main fronts, and a RC-3 center. Been using some JBL Controls for surrounds due to lack of room in current home. I will have a dedicated room for my theater in the new home. Question is, what would you guys recommend for the surrounds that would go well with the Legend's? I was thinking the RS-7, RS-35 or maybe even another set of floorstanding or bookshelf. Thanks for the input in advance....great site!
