  1. Radioshack didn't have the compression RCAs. I also noticed that I would need a compression tool to terminate them. I went the easy way with a sub cable and the Y-adapter included. Sounds fine. Thanks again, all. This forum is great.
  2. Actually, that sounds pretty cheap and uncomplicated. Radio Shack will have the RCA compression fittings, right? Thanks again.
  3. I have two approx. 100 foot runs of 14 ga. speaker cable to upstairs (in-wall) for 2 ceiling speakers in my bathroom, and was wondering if the receiver rated for 150 w/channel RMS (8 ohm) is too much for 2 Klipsch 5800C's (50 watts recommended and sensitivity of 94) I'm looking at. Or maybe the Niles DS8500AT rated at 10-250W (4 or 8 ohm), sensitivity of 89 but with pivoting woofer and tweeter? Yes, I will crank the music in the bathroom Thanks Bill
  4. ok, I think I'll go the cheapest I can find route. Is 24' too long for a subwoofer cable? It is 17' from receiver but I wanted room to move it around. Thanks for all the input
  5. Hi Just looking for a decent sub cable and have it narrowed down to one with a single core and one with a dual core. Is one better than the other? Klipsch RSW-15 Thanks
  6. Thanks for the reply, Russ. Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR1000 Room: 16 x 22 with cathedral ceiling 50% music and 50% movies The room: is open to house on right between right surround and right rear. So if you turned right you will face the TV and fronts/center. The center will be just above the TV when I get to building a shelf for it. There is a very large tri-transom window on left under left side surround. Unfortunately side surrounds are 10' high because of window and opening to house. The RB-75s are in built-in bookshelves at rear of room at 6' height and 10' apart. There is carpet on floor but I guess the room is mostly reflective. Thanks again.
  7. I am new to the forums and from reading posts here its obvious that there are many who are very knowledgeable and even expert as well. So this is basic and naive, I'm sure but... My receiver says it outputs 150 w/RMS into 8 ohms 2 channels driven 20 to 20,000 Hz. Is this appropriate power for these speakers? Is it enough for the RF-7s (250 w max continuous)? What is the rule of thumb for matching wattage if there is one? Thanks, Bill
