  1. I think the guy did right going to the AVS board to ask the question. While there are many good speakers on the market and lots of speaker fanboys over there, almost everyone came back and defended Klipsch. CC is not a Klipsch retailer and the sales guy was trying to make a sale. Pure and simple. AVS is where I started my HT education. It brought me to here and lots of other boards where I am always surprised in the depth of knowlege the posters have. I read all opinions and then form my own -- then make my purchases. Klipsch speakers, Yamaha receiver, Sony SXRD, Pioneer DVD-A/SACD player, Toshiba HD-DVD player --etc. Cheers, Bill
  2. Right at $8,800.00. Wow !! I had no idea !! ----Neither does my wife.
  3. On the Yamaha web site, they say that they are pretty much the same with the HTR brand name being sold at the B&M stores such as BB. The others are sold off of their web site and thru speciality stores. Side by side comparison proves that they are almost identical. Bill

    Vonage / Directv

I run a phone cord to my HDTivo about once a week to get the updates. I takes about 5 mins to download. If I want a PPV movie , I hook up the phone line and use the remote to order. You do not need to be connected 24/7 to a phone line to get D* equipment to work.

  6. I got a flyer in the mail this weekend offering the Synergy Series home theatre with the following. 2 x F-1 C-1 2x S-1 Sub 10 Also with a Yamaha HTR-5840 for $1,299.93 . I priced the speakers alone at $1,340.00 I think that this is a pretty kick a** deal. I have a buddy that will take the receiver and my Quintets and give me $600.00 for them. I will, for all intents and purposes, will be getting the speakers for $740.00. Not bad !!! Bill

    Klipsch Quintet

Thanks guys. I was not aware of the " Referance System " . I will go to BB this weekend and see if they have any to demo. Are they much bigger than the Quintets ?? I was just looking for something a little bigger and alot better than the speakers that I have with my HTIB. As far as " LOUD ", my wife does not like loud !! Of course she is not always at home !! She didn't like the idea of the HDTivo or the Yammy 5760 either and you should have seen her face the day she walked in and saw the 55" RPTV. She says that I don't listen to her --or something like that !! Bill
  8. I would like to hear opinions on the Klipsch Quintet speakers. I heard them at BB when they were showing Lost World and was impressed. I will be pushing them with a Yamaha 5760. My primary (90 %) use would be movies and HDTV and the room is rather small ( 15' by 20' ). My wife does not want large speakers in the room so I thought I would ask about these. I look forward to your replies. Thanks, Bill
