Would like to hear from you guys on what you think is the best bang for the buck turntable? In another post I was asking for recommendation on a new phono cartridge for my Technics SL1200MK2, but I was wondering if I would do better to get a new or used turntable that was alot better than what I have now instead of looking for a great cartridge from my Technics. I've read great reviews on the VPI line of turntables, but was wondering if I would have to spend that much to best the Technics that I have? The Technics is really the only turntable I've owned, so I don't know much about great sounding turntables. I have a pretty large collection of vinyl (400+) and some pretty good gear (Aragon 8008BB amp, McIntosh C46 preamp, Jolida JD100 CD player, 60th Anniversary Klipschorns and LaScalas) so I would like to have a very good turntable. I just read some great reviews at needledoctor.com about the Denon DL 160. For the price I would really like to try it out. I see that it's a high output MC cartridge, do you think it will work with my McIntosh C46 preamp? FYI- My amp is an Aragon 8008BB, Preamp McIntosh C46, CD player Jolida JD100, Turntable Technics SL1200MK2, Speakers 60th Anniversary Klipschorns[] and LaScalas Thanks for all the help!

I listen mostly to classic rock and R&B so I would like a cartridge that has good bottom end. If the Shure is really laid back, I'm not sure If I would like it. Can you tell me where to find an AT ML 440? Can someone tell me if the Ortofon 2M Blue has good bottom end? Thanks, Mark Brien,Depending on what sound you like the Shure is smooth and really laid back maybe too much, the AT ML 440 is more open and detailed hard to beat for the money. Jay

I would like to know what you guys think about the recommendation I received from needledoctor.com They said with the budget I listed, they would recommend a Sumiko HS12 Headshell with a Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge. This would run about $250. Do you think this recommendation would be worth the extra money instead of going with a Shure M97XE? Thanks

I'm looking to get back into vinyl and I'm in need of a new cartridge. I have a Technics SL1200-MK2 turntable, Aragon 8008BB amp and a McIntosh C46 preamp. I would love to get some recommendations? I'd also like to hear from anyone that might have a cartridge they're looking to sell that would work with my setup. I've never been serious into vinyl, so I would also like if someone can point me into the right direction on properly setting up my turntable. Looking to spend $200-$300 if possible. Thanks,

Hey garymd, Do you think I'd do better to find a different turntable than playing around with the Technics SL1200mk2? I would hate to spend any money on a cartridge and find that it just won't sound good with the Technics. I would be willing to spend up to $500 on a turntable including the cartridge. Thanks,

Thanks Mark, as you may remember I purchased a Peach from you and REALLY enjoyed it. Unfortunately I sold it due to financial reasons. But now I'm ready to upgrade again and would like to know how the C2200 compares to the Peach. I would like to know if it's really worth 3X the price. The only thing that I would like to see the Peach have, that the C2200 has is the bass and treble controls.

How hard is it to replace the diaphragm in a K77 tweeter? Would I need any special tools?

Looking for opinions or comments on a McIntosh C2300 Preamp. I have a pair of 60th anniversary Klipschorns and would like to try them with tubes. I am currently using an Aragon 8008BB amp and an Aragon Aurum Preamp. For now I would continue to use the Aragon 8008BB amp and switch the Aurum for the McIntosh C2300. Thanks,

McIntosh MQ 108 environmental equalizer I have an excellent condition McIntosh MQ 108 environmental equalizer. This unit has balanced and single ended inputs and outputs. With this unit you can tailor the problem areas in your room by inserting the capacitor that corresponds to the particular frequency that is having the problem. The beauty is everything else remains intact. Very easy to use by inserting capacitors where necessary. Unit is in excellent condition and very very little use. I have the chance to buy a McIntosh C220 tube preamp. Can anyone share their thoughts on this preamp. I was looking at the C2200, but I was told the C220 is very close to the C2200. Any comments are greatly appreciately.

What are the pros and cons with MM and MC cartridges? Is there something that makes one better than the other?
