  1. Just to round-trip my original post, I ended up going with the PB12-ISD with a discount on the B-side. I dropped a note to Ron & Erik @ SVS, and they responded back within the hour with some recommendations. We essentially dialed it in on the PB12-ISD, which should easily supplement what my Forte's cannot dig low enough for.
  2. THB: Have you taken a look at the Stewart Firehawk or Greyhawk screens? If not, you need to check them out. I've just purchased a 92" Stewart Firehawk Luxus Deluxe for my basement that will be coupled with an InFocus 7205. I know of at least two places on-line wherein a 92" can be acquired for $1300 and change.
  3. Trawling for another Academy taker, Coyotee? For the record, that should be "privilege".
  4. Or perhaps the PB10-ISD? The price is certainly right, but would it be a poor choice compared to the PB12 or 25-31pci? With the Forte's, I really just need to bolster the very low end.
  5. Which to choose? I'm deploying into a Klipsch Forte/Academy configuration in a 19'x16' HT room. Opinions?
  6. I'll let know, especially if I DON'T like them. I was originally looking for RS-3's, but these popped-up and I couldn't refuse the deal. I hope they work out, but I'll sell/trade if I don't like them.
  7. Okay, cool. $350 used, fine shape by all accounts. Fair? I just want to be sure they sound good with the Forte's & Academy.
  8. I currently have a pair of Klipsch Forte's and an Academy that I plan to deploy into a new HT, and have been searching for decent surrounds to match with what I've currently got. I will be pushing everything with a HK AVR435, and my room is roughly 16x19. I recently stumbled upon a pair of KS-525's, and wonder if anyone else has any experience with these speakers. More importantly, does anyone have an opinion as to how they might perform with my current setup? I can always get rid of them for something else, but the deal was too good to pass up. Any thoughts or opinions?
  9. I actually won a KV-4 on eBay recently, just before I was able stumble upon an Academy (my first choice) as a match for my Forte's. I've not yet recieved it yet and am not sure if I will be using it or not in my 7.1 setup. If you're interested, I can let you know when it arrives, what condition it is in, and we can discuss potential arrangements. Up to you.
  10. Colin: I have no clue what the frequency response is (currently rough-framed), and my budget is <$500. Can I DIY and get a better bang/buck than the SVS PB-10?
  11. Thanks for the feedback, guys (especially chuck). I'm leaning more and more toward the SVS subs, although the PC-Ultra is a bit out of my comfort zone. I was thinking more along the lines of their entry-level PB10-ISD box (<$500), although I have no idea if it will fill my 19x16 room adequately. I have a feeling the Forte's will do quite well on their own, but I really want a good sub to handle the really deep, dedicated stuff. Any opinion on the PB10-ISD in my setup with the Forte's?
  12. Hi guys: Any advice or experience on what sub would be a good candidate to match with a pair of Forte's and an Academy center for HT? My room will be 19'x16' with a 9' ceiling. I'm finding a fair number of people suggesting SVS, but I want to be sure I make a wise decision here. Thanks in advance.
  13. Not sure if this one is up to your standards, but you might consider this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3276&item=5757916240&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW No clue how it would match with your Chorus II's, but I'm hearing a fair number of folks that say it makes a great center for Forte's & the like...the price is right.
  14. Lemme ask you guys something; would the RS-25 be a crappy choice for surrounds in my situation? I like the dipole profile and keyhole mount already built-in, but am concerned that they'll suck as much as the RC-25 would when matched with my Forte's. I've heard people say that the surrounds don't matter nearly as much as the center, and others suggest that they are almost as important. I like the size/profile of the RS-25's, but if the KG1 is a far superior choice, then I'll just find a way to make them work somehow (mount-wise).
  15. Coyotee: Okay, I just put 2+2 together. Here's to hoping you get $675..just don't piss of e-Bay again.
  16. Cool; thanks for the replies thus far. I need to check out the KG's a bit more; any suggestions as to what model/version might be a best fit? I plan on doing a wall-mount, and the room is currently framed to support a key-hole mount scenario. If I need to put in single-gang boxes to support the KG's, I need to do it before Wednesday (drywall). How are you guys mounting your KG's anyway?
  17. Does anyone have any feedback as to what speakers would be a good match to the Klipsch Forte for LS & RS in a 5.1 system? Also, I need to be able to wall-mount my surrounds. I'm pretty clear on the fact that matching the center is probably the most important aspect, but want to be sure I don't do a disservice to the importance of the surround channels. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  18. Cool, thanks. I sure hope so. By the way, here's another: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14992&item=5759998927&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  19. Um, actually, I think I'm the guy who BOUGHT this item. Like you guys, I saw the listing this morning AFTER he had pulled the BIN. Per my standard practice, I asked him if he had a BIN (unbeknownst to the fact that he actually had one, and pulled it). Long story short, I told him I'd be tempted at $450 when he replied with no BIN, although he countered at $50 higher within a few minutes, and we settled on a deal. Hell, the last one on e-Bay went for $600-something, so I figured $450-$500 was fair. Hope I'm not getting screwed...sorry if I messed things up for any of the rest of you guys.
  20. JBK: I'm in almost the EXACT same situation as you (Forte's, HT requirement, 16x19 space), and the advice that everyone seems to suggest is that some of the newer Klipsch speakers do not provide a good "timbre" match to the Forte's. Now, I've not actually heard anything myself, so I'm going by what I've been able to research and discover in this forum and others. Did you actually hear the RC-35 with the Forte's yet? My understanding is that matching the center speaker to keep a consistent soundstage is the most important factor. Not to say that the LS & RS are not important, but simply less so than the C. As to you additional components, I'm partial to Harman Kardon AVR's. I have an AVR 325 upstairs and plan on getting the AVR 435 for my HT setup. Good luck; keep me posted on how things go for you as I will close behind on my acquisition of new equipment to match my Forte's.
  21. Heh, I saw that. If you guys are saying that the old KG2.2V would be a decent match for the $$, I might just bid on it. Finding an academy seems to be prohibitively difficult, and if the KG2.2V is a fair match (say, better than a new RC-35, for that matter), then I'll run with that advice. Many thanks for the help and insight.
  22. Thanks for the feedback, guys. Finding 3 Heresy's might be a little tough, so I think I might opt for a used C7. Am I right in assuming that matching the surrounds isn't quite as important? I was originally thinking about the RS-35's; would these be a fair choice or should I consider something else? I'd like to wall-mount the surrounds somehow via keyhole or other means, so I want to keep the profile appropriate without compromising quality too much.
  23. Tim: I'm in the same situation as you; I have some Hertigage Forte's that I plan on deploying into a new HT setup. I actually called Klipsch customer support, and someone on the technical side recommended matching the Forte's with an RC-35 and the RS-35's. From what I've been reading on this board, that isn't exactly a great idea. I like the idea of using additional Forte's for RS/LS and center, however, I'd prefer a smaller profile for the surrounds that could be mounted on the wall in a room that is 19'x16'. Now, my understanding is that matching the center channel is the most critical thing, and matching of surrounds isn't quite as important. Please let me know if I'm mistaken. I was planning on using the RS-35's, and I hope that would be okay. While I'd love to find an Academy somewhere, it seems that they are prohibitively difficult to locate these days. What additional options, in order of preference, are available? I've seen references to a whole number of center channel options, but what would be the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best behind the Academy? Many thanks.
