Edit: I bought 16 AWG black lampcord from Home Depot on the cheap, and I see no way to differentiate the conductors...
Well, today I'm borrowing a friend's multimeter, and I'll verify my connections are correct to the speakers.
As far as the magnet goes: Imagine watching the speaker cone play music, you'll see it move in and out at 0 degrees angle (straight at the listener). My cones are pointing up at about 45 degrees, indicating to me that the magnet attached inside the speaker is just hanging limp while the speaker plays. In fact, when I turn up the volume on my receiver, I'll hear the woofer try and work a little, but it just gives a clapping noise.
Could there be an internal speaker connection to BOTH woofers that is broken? I'm no expert on the operation of speakers, so I don't know how it is all connected inside. I'm just concerned, because I bought online and I only have about a week left to RMA if either the receiver or speakers are broken.
I think the final outcome will simply be that my polarities are crossed on the speakers. But I checked them and even swapped them a few times, and nothing fixed the problem. The only thing is, I think I did this before also fixing the setup in the receiver. I'm hoping there's no way that I could have killed the speakers just by swapping the polarities, I mean I didn't short anything together.
I'll keep you guys posted on what I find, nothing worse than hearing a crazy story like this and not hearing the solution...God I hope it's the cabling, God I hope it's the cabling.....
(ps: If it ends up being the cabling, I'll call the online store and ask to have my head RMA'd)
