what do you need to do for break in

I bought it from Harmon Kardon the number on it is Solid state stereo phono preamp MCM 40-630. So the albums should sound as good as cd, as far as volume goes. Also how much does the cart make a dif. What cart should I have and what phone preamp?

yes it is a phone preamp, and I have it between two sets compsite wires and I have it hooked up to the composite cd in on my AVR 635.Yes that is how I have it hooked up Is there something better than the phone preamp?

Is there any value in buying a burn in cd,to tune your system or is that jsut a gimmick?
