  1. I recently made the switch to a Mac and have previously used Audiograbber very successfully with my PC to record online audio and lp's. What would be a program that would work like Audiograbber? I need one to record online audio as well and one that switches automatically between tracks like Audiograbber does. Thanks.

  2. My amp is a Sherbourn 7/2100A, seven monoblocks in one...a monster used for home theater and music. I am running Forte I's and II's...upgraded with DeanG's, and I listen to many types of music...Jazz, Classical, Pop, Rock...mostly Jazz, on a Denon DVD 2900. I also having a hard time deciding between my diamond in the rough Audcom AP100 ,that is currently out of business, and my Audible Illusions Modulus 3 for my preamps.

I like my setup a great deal. I think curiosity like many of us, the love of music, and the need for audio nirvana is what drives me to ask this question in the first place.

  3. I recently started using a tube preamp in my system, and have noticed how much the sound opens up on my Forte's. Over a year ago Dean rebuilt my crossovers, and I have been using a solid state preamp previously for both home theater and music. The strange thing is since I started using tubes, my solid state stuff is sounding much better. Has this been noted in the past? In other words, does the use of tube gear permanently change the sound of speakers?

  4. The Forte I's are from my five channel set-up and are currently being run with a set of Forte 2's and an Academy. In order to get a better matching set to go with these, once the Forte I's are gone, I will be using a set of Quartet's instead...better match with the Forte 2's.

  5. I love mine; It is very musical, open, and warm...definitely a permanent part of my system. I've had it for a little over a year, and it goes great with my Forte setup...great for music and home theater. Feel free to PM or email me with any questions. I agree with the customer service. It is very top notch. When you call sometimes you can even speak to the owner, Ron Fone...that is great and personal service!

  6. Currently I own a Sherbourn PT-7010A and am thinking about getting something different. It is good, but can be a tad bright at times. However, I must sell the Sherbourn first to get the cash for the next processor and hope I'll get somewhere between $1250-1450. Also, I am using it for 50% music and 50% movies. That's where my dilemma is: I want to go to totally tubes for two channel music but need something that plays DVD-A and movies...DD...DTS concerts equally as well.

  7. Mike,

" Was your orginal problem just that one channels
sound wasn't going all the way down or did you also have gain problems
    at this point?"

I didn't notice any gain problems at this point. I only noticed the volume problem. However, I do not have the schematic.

"...then you have control problems(or in the ribbon cable going to the controls)" I have heard the ribbon cable going to the controls can also be a problem.

The frustration lies within my tech not being able to reproduce the same gain problem that I am having. He is only noticing that the right channel is several decibels louder than the left, because he is running the preamp into a receiver as his amp for his testing, not an actual amplifier. The problem is not as noticeable for him, because he is able to adjust the volume through his receiver, while I cannot.

Thanks for the input. It's really appreciated.

    Andy
