  1. What's even better is to have tons of moola, do all the babes, and keep good grades! (need to really work on the last one)
  2. Home theater + College = dangerous hehehe...I know the feeling.
  3. Another bonus is I prefer the sound of the RB-75 in the surround over Klipsch's WDST speakers. tkdamerica, how do you positions yours? I like a couple feet back behind the listening area angled towards the listener, not directly at them (firing slightly behind the head).
  4. I went ahead and moved the bookshelves to the surrounds, returned the RS-35's, and put RF-7's up front. How can people possibly make comparisons between these two speakers?
  5. Both seem like good choices. I'm not sure if you're looking just for 7.1 receivers (it looks like you have five speakers, are you getting two more?) If 5.1 is good enough for you, i'd consider the HK AVR 8000-Z, which will give you quite a bit more power than the AVR 635: http://www.harmanaudiooutlet.com/search_browse/product_detail.asp?urlMaterialNumber=AVR%208000-Z&status= That receiver is refurbished but the sale price is significantly lower than the MSRP, plus you're getting it directly from Harmon Kardon. Also if you ever want to go 7.1 you can hook up a 2-channel amp to the receiver.
  6. Yes, Harman Kardon should definately be in consideration. The AVR 8000-Z seems like a good choice, which is similar to the receiver I posted above: http://www.harmanaudiooutlet.com/search_browse/product_detail.asp?urlMaterialNumber=AVR%208000-Z&status=
  7. Might want to try the HK 7200, I was about to get it before I went with separates. It's on sale on their outlet site, let me know if you want the link.
  8. Great price! I'd definately pick up the 2910 at that price. Beetlejuce: Pyroponic do you mind if I ask where you purchased your 2900 from and what are they selling for these days. I got mine at eCost.com, which is the same company as others selling the same thing (pcmall.com, etc). This company is listed by Denon as an authorized reseller of B-class electronics, so it includes a 90-day warranty. So it is refurbished but mine seemed new out of the box, and i'm absolutely happy with it. Very clean and cosmetically flawless. So if you don't mind that fact, you can get the DVD-2900 for $530 shipped.
  9. Yep, I definately recommend this DVD player, and the video and audio are great. I'm replacing these cheap component cables I have so i'm guessing the video will get even better. About the RF-7's I will not be able to return those once I get them (they'll be warrantied however) because this is how the installers have so many extra speakers: They install setups and buy through the store so they "sell" many Klipsch speakers to themselves and accumlate points through Klipsch's seller incentive program. So they have a ton of extra speakers sitting around like RF-7's, RC-7's, and RSW-15's. Anyways, i'm happy with how the RS-35's sound, so my main reason for moving the RB-75's to the surround isn't to get a direct firing speakers in the surround but to get the two RF-7's in the main. I hear the RB-75 and RF-7's are comparable speakers, but having the floorstandings up front i'm guessing my stereo sound + everything else will be EVEN better. I don't know how good the RB-75's will sound in the surround but I listen to SACD's now that I have the DVD-2900 so i'm guessing that could be beneficial for music. So I figure I might as well return the RS-35's while I can. I'm pretty sure they'll give me a good deal, for example I got the RB-75's for $800, RC-7 for $600, and RSW-15 for $1,200 (all cherry, new, and warrantied). I think the the new speakers would be well matched, and the NAD S250 does 200 watts per channel into stereo...sweet! How much better are RF-7's than RB-75's up front (with the RSW-15). John
  10. My current setup is my signature. I just purchased the RS-35's recently, so I believe I can return them for a refund of $565 since it hasn't been 30 days. The guys that i'm friends with that work at the store install Klipsch systems as a business and can probably get me a pair of new cherry RF-7's for around $1,500. I was thinking of returning the surround speakers, then putting 2 RF-7's up front and then moving the RB-75's to the side for a 5.1 setup. You think this is the way to go? Thanks
  11. Yeah, funny thing is i'm a college student and invited a few chicks over to my house this weekened to watch a movie, I just said "I like home theater," I didn't give them any details (not like they'd care). I'm thinking they think I have a 36" Sony with a Dolby 5.1 boxed set from Best Buy or something. They're in for quite a treat hehe
  12. I must say this DVD player is awesome! Really kicks the **** out of my old Sony DVD player, great redbook CD playback as well. Really brings my system to life =)
  13. Anyone know the best place to put the RSW-15? I'm guessing 6-8" from the corner with the rear (I believe that's the active woofer) pointing towards it. Is this correct (for the most part, I know I should go and feel the best bass response in different areas of the room)?
  14. This is off-topic, but if anyone is (or will) be in the market for a computer market, a Dell 2001FP 20" LCD monitor is second-to-none. Many professional online poker players use this monitor for its size and 1600x1200 native resolution, allowing you to fit up to four tables onto one screen, and playing up to eight on two of them. In fact if you're still using a CRT, I suggest getting this monitor ASAP!
  15. So having the RS-35's in the surround and RB-75's in the rear is the way to go? I don't know how much sound is played through the rears (or if many movies are encoded in 7.1 for that matter), I didn't want such nice speaker to go to waste =)
  16. My subwoofer only works when I set my speakers to "small," any ideas?
  17. Are you going to upgrade your DVD player? I just upgraded my Sony to a Denon but i'm not familiar with your particular model so it might be one of their better ones...
  18. My only concern is having a 200-watt amp driving the fronts with 120-140 watts driving the center. I just want to make sure the difference isn't going to upset the balance between the front three speakers.
  19. Hello, i'm getting my NAD separates today and i'm very excited to hook them up to my current setup: Television: Panasonic 50" rear-project HDTV Pre/pro: NAD T163 Amplifier: NAD S250 Fronts/center/surrounds/subwoofer: Klipsch RB-75 x 2 Klipsch RC-7 Klipsch RSW-15 Klipsch RS-35 x 2 My question pertains to future upgrades (probably down the road a year or two). The upgrade would probably turn my existing 5.1 setup into 7.1, for the people out there running 7.1 is there a big difference over 5.1? For the upgrade, I was thinking of getting two RF-7's for the front, moving the RB-75's to the surround, and moving the RS-35's to the rear. First, what kind of amplifer should be used to run the mains? I was thinking either the Rotel 1080 or NAD S250. Is mixing amplifers advisable? Also, is there going to be too much of a power disparity (NAD S250 is rated continously 120 watts x 5 vs. a Rotel 1080 or NAD S500 which is rated continously 200 watts x 2). In other words, is this too much power to the mains and not enough power to the center, surrounds, and rears? Would maybe going with a Rotel 1070 or an amplifer that does 150 watts x 2 work better? Lastly, how do you think this final 7.1 speaker arrangement would work. Thanks John
  20. It's the NAD S250, 125 watts x 5 continuous or 190 watts x 2 in stereo mode. So for music i'll have no problem, and i'm sure that rating for 5 channels is underrated somehwat. I guess i'll have to just wait and see.
  21. If I set my fronts to small i'm guessing the surrounds also have to bet set to small? Is my sub supposed to pick up the rest?
  22. I'm not sure if this receiver will even let me crossover the individual speakers, but WHAT exactly does the small/large setting do? Does it basically set crossovers on the speakers to a certain range? This receiver is getting scrapped very soon anyways, i'm sure the T163 will have more settings for me to toy around with =)
  23. I'm currently running these speakers with this cheap Sony receiver (my separates come on Thursday). I never thought of it before, but should I set these speakers to "large" or "small" under my receiver? What about with the RS-35 surrounds? RC-7 should be set to large obviously. Thanks
