  1. I lost two Torx #20 screws, one for my RC-7 driver assembly and one my RF-7 horn assembly. The RC-7 screw is like a traditional screw and the RF-7 is more of a cylinder type screw. If anyone could direct me in the right direction to replacing them i'd appreciate it. Thanks

  3. I'm currently getting my RF-7's modded by DeanG, and one thing that i've thought about while they've been gone is biwiring them when I get them back. Is there a noticable sound difference and can anyone recommend any good cables designed for this? Thanks
  4. I'm currently getting my RF-7's modded by DeanG, and one thing that i've thought about while they've been gone is biwiring my front three speakers. Is there a noticable sound difference and can anyone recommend any good cables designed for this? Thanks
  5. I have a similar setup to yours, I use a Rotel RMB-1095 with good results.
  6. Current system: TV: Panasonic 50" LCD HDTV DVD player: Denon DVD-2900 Amplifier: Rotel RMB-1095 (200x5) Preamp/processor: Rotel RSP-1068 Fronts: Klipsch RF-7 Surrounds: Klipsch RB-75 Center: Klipsch RC-7 Subwoofer: Klipsch RSW-15 Thinking about adding on a Rotel RB-1080 (200x2) and putting two more Klipsch RB-75's in the rear (bookshelves), is it worth it? Thanks
  7. So my understanding is for: a) DVDs - set the delay settings on the receiver and not the DVD player SACDs - set the delay settings on the DVD player but not the receiver I'm assuming that if this is correct, i'm going to have to manually change the delay settings in the DVD player everytime I switch between SACDs and DVDs?
  8. You can get the discontinued Denon DVD-2900 for $500 if you look around, which retailed for $1000 last year I believe. In fact, I think this model is better than its predecessor, the DVD-2910. Ever since I went with the higher end unit, I do notice a noticeable difference in terms of the build of the unit, cleaner sound and a more vibrant picture. Overall function seems to be improved also.
  9. I like NAD as well but switched to Rotel because I was having the same problems Mike was describing. These posts may give you more information, I finally determined that the preamp did contribute a lot to the extra noise I was hearing: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64089&sessionID={4C01DDF8-CBA8-4F53-9811-A6CCFCCDEB31} http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=63951&sessionID={4C01DDF8-CBA8-4F53-9811-A6CCFCCDEB31}
  10. I thought setting the distances in both would be a mistake. So set the distances in the Rotel and not in the DVD player? If you say I have to set the distances in the Denon for SACDs, how would I be able to do this without switching the distances in the DVD player? I'm assuming for movies I set the distances in the processor but what should I put in the DVD player? All 0 feet i'm assuming. Thanks
  11. Both my Rotel RS-1068 and Denon DVD-2900 have delay settings, which would I set to reflect the speaker distances? Thanks
  12. These are some things you might want to consider: 1. RSW-12 is a nice subwoofer but for a dedicated HT room i'd go even bigger, either an RSW-15 (only if you can get it at a good price) or an SVS sub 2. Maybe separate amplifier and processor? You'll get better power, more flexibility, and greater overall performance. Also keep in mind that although Klipsch's are efficient speakers, they can suck up a lot of juice especially during big action scenes or similar music. 3. Overall, I am very happy with my rear-projection TV (which is probably similar to a DLP), but you might want to take a look at projectors. I personally did not like them before, but after seeing a recent setup with a high-quality screen and projector, I must admit it looked like a plasma TV. Especially since it had a nice trim and wasn't have a pull-down screen.
  13. Yeah that's what I thought, they turn it up to the point where it sounds all muddy and muffled, and the bass is loud but too boomy. Basically I couldn't say a word if I was anywhere on the dance floor, I had to go to the corners of the bar just to talk to someone. And it is sad that places so driven by music would make an effort to at least have a "decent" setup.
  14. Yeah I agree, i'm assuming most people don't care and/or too drunk to care. Not like i'm expecting much, but some of them are REAL bad. As you got Lil Jon bumping in the background everything is alright lol. Can't wait to have a party at my house.
  15. I apologize for this off-topic post, but I was curious about something. When you guys go to a bar or club that plays a lot of music do you find many to have mediocre sound systems? I was at this medium-sized club last night and quite honestly it sounded like ****...especially at the volume they were playing it at. And it's funny, I didn't mean to be critical or anything since I was there to have a good time but it was just it just a subconcious thing that i'm wondering if any of you share.
  16. You know, it doesn't really matter what the cards are. The reason is because over a long-term distribution of hands, you can expect everyone to get roughly the same hands. So although luck is a huge short-term variable, in the long-run the player with the most skill will inevitably take a weaker player's money, because bad players a) they play too many hands and go to far with them, and they are prone to make huge mistakes and bad decisions which a good player can exploit. I don't tell many of my non-poker playing friends that I play, but most think it's pure gambling such as roulette, craps, etc. I just wanted to clear up if anyone thought poker was like those games as well.
  17. Yeah I won't be doing this upgrade for a while (4-5 months? hehehe) But yeah, I do feel very lucky about my situation because I am only a 21-year old college student who plays online poker part-time for a job. Take a look at my blog in the signature if you're interested. I can't help but be a little envious. Why? You have a very nice setup, in fact that's what I think of most members who post on this board. I was orignally going to get the SVS PB2+ (from my research this is a ****ing beast!!) but my friend gave me a great deal on RSW-15 which I couldn't turn down, plus it matched the rest of my system.
  18. Wouldn't four matched speakers (e.g. RB-75) in the surrounds and rear be ideal as opposed ot having say RF-5's in the surround and RB-75's in the back? Or does the RF-5 match up with Reference 7 series speakers well? I probably would prefer towers on the side, but I suppose having four of the matched speakers which also match the R/C/L well would provide benefits that the RF-5's couldn't provide, but i'm not sure.
  19. Hello, seeing how I went a little overboard with my system to begin with, i'm going to chill out on doing anything new for a while. I'm just curious what I want to do next, most likely go to 7.1. I'll most likely get a Rotel RB-1080 to power my mains, and use the RMB-1095 to power the rest of the speakers. My room is long and narrow, and there is definately enough room to put some rears in. Some ideas i've been toying with: a) Get another pair of RF-7's for the surrounds, move the RB-75's to the rear Get a pair of RS-7's for the surrounds, move the RB-75's to the rear c) Get another pair of RB-75's and run them in the surrounds and rear d) Get two RC-7's for the surround, move the RB-75's to the rear e) Keep the RB-75's in the surround, get two RC-7's for the rear Personally putting some RF-7's in the surround with the RB-75's in the rear is my favorite. Since a minority of sound information is sent to the surrounds, i'm concerned that maybe RF-7's there would be a waste, maybe RB-75's all the way around in the sides/back would be preferable. Don't know too much about the RC-7 other than it being a good center and was wondering if it does a good job in the surround/rear? I read some of m00n's post and I must say I am interested. I'm pretty sure rear speakers are best if they're direct firing so any future setup will most likely put the RB-75's in the rear. How would RF-7's compare to RB-75's or RS-7's in the surround? Like I mentioned before, I really am leaning getting another pair of RF-7's. Note that both music/HT are of equal importance to me. Any feedback is appreciated. John
  20. This is a follow-up post to: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=63951&sessionID={5CA3CB87-0CF1-497F-8694-2291B0364A7D} Basically I called Saturday Audio and they tried to give me some BS about how the plain cardboard boxes is how NAD ships the new S250 amplifers, and they wanted to swap my set for another one. So I called my bank and explained the situation, and they already credited the refund to my account! I put in an order for the Rotel RSP-1068 and the Rotel RMB-1095, hopefully they will not dissapoint. I'm getting them at a great price, my dealer friend is giving me the set new and warrantied for $2775. I guess what's next is just to ship the stuff back to Saturday Audio and wait for my new gear. I'll post some pictures of my final setup once everything arrives! P.S. To those who own the RSP-1068, how is this pre/pro? I can understand why an amplifer would retail for $2,000 (which seems like a good value for this amp), but why so much for a pre/pro? (almost $2,000) I know it handles the signal processing and whatnot, what are the differences between say a $1000 preamp, a $2000 one, and a $5000 one?
  21. Alright, just got back from my dealer and we tried various combinations of the NAD S250, Rotel RMB-1095, NAD T163, and some Rotel receiver at a preamp. BOTH the NAD preamp and amp have major issues, i'm going to try to work it out with Saturday Audio and if they don't want to cooperate i'll go through the credit card comapany. At first the amp not being in a manufacter's box didn't bother me, but now i'm glad that's how it came! Pretty unethical to advertise and tell the customer something is new and then ship them most likely a demo unit or something. I think i'm going to go with the Rotel RMB-1095 and the 1068 preamp, i'll let guys know how this turns out.
  22. Slight hiss with just the amp hooked up to the speakers. I read up a lot about this problem at ecoustics.com, and it appears that the newer model NAD amplifers are replete with noise problems. It's very sad because with the amount of money I spent and the fact that I chose separates over a receiver I feel I should not have to deal with this problem. I am 90% sure it is a problem with the amplifier. Also Saturday Audio told me the amplifer was brand new when I bought it, when it is obviously B-class (they shipped it in a box other than the manufacturer's box), so using the fact that they lied to me I am either going to try to return the amp and keep the pre/pro, dispute it with my credit card company, or sell it on eBay for a small loss. Hopefully they are cooperative with me. I'm going to audition the Rotel amp at the shop before demoing it (since I can't do that this weekend), i'm going to bring my NAD amp there to verify that there is a problem with it and that it's not just my house. Also I live right around the corner from an authorized NAD dealer and i'm going to see if any of their amps/receivers have this "hiss" problem.
  23. I get the hiss if the gain is anything above 50%. I know it's definatly not normal, because it is very noticable (especially during quite passages in music/movies) from my listening position, about 15 feet away. It's very annoying! I'd demo the Rotel first of course to see if it showed any improvement. On ecoustics.com there is countless complaints on specifically the T773 receiver, and to a much less extent, the S250. Also the hiss kicks in slightly if an interconnect is plugged in to the amplifer (not connected to the pre/pro). When hooked up I start getting very noticable levels at -79 DB on the pre/pro, which intensifies as I turn up the volume.
  24. Apparantly there is some sort of hiss inherent with NAD's newer amplifiers and receivers, unrelated to ground loop inteference. I'm thinking about returning this amplifier and getting the Rotel RMB-1095 (my Klipsch dealer is also a authorized Rotel dealer). Anyways, i'm thinking this would pair up good with the NAD T163 pre/pro? I think my speakers (in the signature) may be capable of handling such a massive amplifer. Could the RMB-1075 possibly be a better choice? Any feedback is appreciated, John
  25. No offense, but for $2,000 you're going to get a system that will be mediocre compared to your TV. I'm not into upgrading either (hehe), so I figured i'd get the most bang for my buck to go with my TV which is similar to yours. So I suggest maybe increasing your budget or save up for it, it's worth it! I swear I feel like i'm in a theater at times. If your TV wasn't so nice it wouldn't be as much of an issue... Oh yeah, I think you'll find with a nice setup you'll find yourself listening to more and more music. I orignally bought mine for like 70/30 movies, but now I think I lean more towards listening to more music than movies because it sounds so good.
