  1. While it's a bit more costly than a T-shirt, I work with a guy that

does embroidary on the side. He has a couple of CNC embroidary machines

(we're talking serious equipment here - the size of a washing machine).

It would be a piece of cake for him to do a pie slice logo on the back

    of a jacket.

If anyone is interested, I can have him make me a sample and post pics. Since the artwork is already done, it's a quick process.

  2. There is a sign on the counter at a nearby UPS terminal that reads "All electronics MUST be shipped in the original packaging."

This must be some kind of UPS policy, as I would not think it would be

up to an individual UPS location to make this determination.

If they claim the original packaging is insufficient, here's the location with the sign:

    UPS CUSTOMER CENTER

    373 CROSS RD

    N DARTMOUTH, MA 02747

    800-742-5877

  3. Looks like a tie between a clarinet and a trombone, according to this chart.

A clarinet?! They don't list the trumpet - wonder how it compares to the french

  4. There's a lot of tough guys out there, but surviving a 73 MPH bird strike to the face is quite an accomplishment.

    "Fabio got goosed.

``We found the bird,'' Busch Gardens spokeswoman Deborah DeMarco said Wednesday. ``It was a goose. It's dead.''

    Fabio is fine.

The Italian supermodel, whose face was bloodied and bruised Tuesday

morning during a ride on the amusement park's newest attraction, was

bashed by a bird as the roller coaster fell at 73 mph.

``At that speed, you'd think a goose would've taken his head off,''

said Virginia Beach Audubon Society President James Rahman."

  5. That's the same guy that bought a pair of Decorator Heresy's ($400+

w/shipping) I was looking at in VA Beach last year. One had a ripped-up

woofer, and they needed refinishing (but no physical cabinet damage).

I thought the same thing - how can he possibly make a profit on those?

I posted one of his auctions a while back, where someone paid $850 for

gloss black (looked like a brush paint job with streaks on the

motorboards) Heresy's with caine grills. A week later, they were right

back up for sale - but no bad feedback was exchanged.

    Makes one wonder, it does.

  6. Bose 901's

    Several varieties of JBL's

Standard Air Force/Navy Exchange offerings. I remember seeing Khorns in

the speaker room at the Subic Bay Navy Exchange (only Klipsch they had

in stock) and thinking "Man, those things are as big as a freakin'

refrigerator!" "Who'd want something like that?"

Of course when I had to move every few years, and had a weight limit

for all of my worldly possessions, I viewed things a bit differently.

  7. Was just curious if your strategy had yielded these beauties. I'm in

the market for some Khorns as well, so I'm willing to try anything that

    might prove to be beneficial.

Interesting observation regarding eBay dropping the low-priced

completed items early. I'm still waiting for them to add auction

overtime for bids within the last 5 minutes. That would certainly

    increase their revenue.

Last fall I spotted a pair of Decorator Heresy's on eBay from an

auction house in VA. With one ripped-up woofer, and ugly (but

physically undamaged) cabinets, I figured they would be easy pickings,

and could have my kid get them - eliminating the $80 shipping cost.

Some guy in FL that seems to make a living selling refinished Heresy's

on eBay ended up paying over $400 with shipping.

I'd love to find a pair of Khorns in the sub-2K range, but I'm talking

pretty ones. I might go a little higher for local mint Khorns - they

would still be a bargain compared to the new "III" series Heritage

prices. I've seen some cheap ones as well, but not in the condition I'm

looking for. The pair that you show here seems to be a nice exception -

I really feel for you on these, as that would have been a killer deal.

I'd have hired Mayflower to go get 'em for that kind of money!

I really doubt I'd walk away from a $20 pair, but the odds of finding

something like that are only slightly better than finding a ZL1 crate

motor in an abandoned storage auction.

Back in 2001, I managed to snag 4 of Sun Microsystems best video boards

on eBay for $120 - which I flipped for $3,600. Think I used up most of

my good eBay kharma on that one.

  8. For $405, here's a high-quality remote attenuator from diycable.com

(attenuator by DACT). Takes up quite a bit of chassis real estate,

compared to something like an Alps pot.

I have a remote in my bedroom AES AE-3 DJH, which was a $500 option. I

normally don't adjust the volume during playback, but it's kind of nice

with a changer (quite a difference between some CD's).

  9. "Mr. Joessportster,

First of all, for being a 40 year old

individual I highly recommend that you brush up on your your English as your posting is at the 5th grade level.

    ...You can call then up,

and then can tell if their is a package going to be delivered to your

home just by your address (regardless of the shipper)."

    Enough said.
