  1. I would go with a pair of RB-5 and a sub from HSU Research. I had a similar office system the was more than you could imagine with 7 WPC.
  2. I agree, the InFocus 4805 is a nice unit. I have not viewed it, but it is very highly regarded. Check out http://www.projectorcentral.com/ Tons of great info. The Panasonic 700 and InFocus 4805 were 1 and 2 on the ratings for low cost projectors. LCD people will choose the Panasonic and DLP guys will want the 4805. The Panasonic is a newer unit and has better brightness and resolution values, while the contrast is identical. Good luck.

  4. Get every penny you can. That is the eBay way for sure. I agree it is a free country and it is your equipment. No worries. I hop[e you get a grand for it. I made a WTB listing for a pair of K-Horns and Fortes on Audiogon recently. I was contacted by two different sellers, both with mint equipment. Both could tell right away that I appreciate the quality of both sets and was eager to make a deal. We made deals that made us both happy. The guy with the K-Horns is selling them to me for several hundred below market. My new forte buddy is driving two hours out of his way to help me out and sell at a fair price. Both could have easily sold on eBay for more money but seemed just as satisfied helping out a fellow Klipsch guy and getting a fair deal for themselves. That is what makes the world go round. Hell, I sell stuff on eBay all the time and alot of times get more $$ than my stuff is worth. A sellers marker for sure. I was not saying that you, the seller, were 'wrong' for adding a $750 BIN. I am saying that if $750 is market on an Academy, that is 'wrong' and you can count me out. Good luck with your auction and future food fights.
  5. I just went to look and that is just wrong. Anyone that pays 750 for an academy has more money than sense. If that is the market price for an academy, I am now looking for a single heresy, quartet, or forte. Thanks.
  6. I have been looking at projectors as well, both DLP and LCD. Under 2K, no question, the Panasonic PT-AE700U is the way to go as far as LCD. I also looked at the BenQ 7700 which is higher in cost(replaces the 8700 which is very highly regarded) The 7700 has improved performance AND is lower in price than its predecessor. It is an DLP projector and has HD2. I have seen both and they are both incredible for the money. I am getting at 106" fixed screen from Carada (direct pricing and easily the best deal on screens). The Panasonic had slightly better color and seemed sharper while the BenQ had a slightly brighter and smoother image (like Plasma vs. LCD). Both rock. I think these picture qualaties are inherent with each technology. The best pricing that I have received on the Panasonic is $1950 shipped plus there is a $200 rebate until the end of April. The BenQ comes in at street pricing of around $2,700 but has a 3 year warranty vs. 1 year on the Panasonic. You can purchase additional warranty on the Panasonic for $199 which is not a bad investment IMO. I received a bunch of quotes online and decided to go with the Panasonic. Let me know and I will send you to 'the guy' and save you some time.
  7. Thanks for the info, but that is fairly high. What year is the Belle and where are you located? Thanks-Keith
  8. Looking for a single heresy, forte, la scala, belle, cornwall,or quartet. Email keithmcg@nc.rr.com if available. Thanks.

  10. Thanks all. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about anything. Except for maybe the birth of my son, no wait, that was fear. Another question, does anyone know of a good source for sound-proofing material? I am finishing the attic in my new home and I have a feeling that will be very important.

  12. Thanks for the warm welcome and great info guys. I will definitely check out the technical info. Gil, great points. I look forward to some good reading and years of enjoyment. Cheers.
  13. Thanks for the info Lynnm. These should give me years of enjoyment. Once I get the serial numbers, is it easy to determine the crossover type from Klipsch? And id there a specific forum for important mods on the Khorns. I am sure I will enjoy them for a while and then look to make them as good as they can possibly be. I will look into the mod you suggested down the road for sure. Thanks again.
  14. I am finally getting my first pair of KHorns. I am very excited, obviously. They are in beautiful shape and are oiled oaks from what I believe to be the mid-eighties. I am purchasing the speakers from an older gentleman who can't move the speakers to check the serial numbers. He did tell me that the units have metal horns as opposed to the newer plastic ones. I have agreed to pay $1,700 for a pair in 8 out of 10 condition which seems like a pretty fair deal considering the condition and prices I have seen on eBay and AGon. A few questions: How have the KHorn design changed since the 70s in terms of crossovers, drivers, cabinet materials? Also, what years or periods produced the best KHorns. I have read on a couple forums that some prfered the mid 70's and am curious if there is anything to that claim. Will my 16x18x9 room be adequate for these. I am going to use my Fortes as rears and pick up a center. What would you suggest as a center. I was thinking about a Belle. I will be driving the 2 channel with a 7 WPC Cary 300B SET and HT with Sunfire 5 channel. Thanks for your help.
