They're local, so no shipping. The guy's asking $250.00 firm.

I've looked around a bit and found some ball park figures.
Could you guys please comment on the maximum one should pay for KG4s?
The pair in question is absolutely perfect except for a wee bit of scuffing on the edge of one of the grilles.
Thanks in advance!

As much as I liked reading dragonfyr's pretty
informative posts, and I will miss his posts. I have to side with Amy.
Here's how I look at this forum. It's like a club. Amy, Trey, whoever
are the bouncers walking around making sure nobody's getting into a
fights or acting too obscene. If someone gets in a fight they'll be
talked down, but if someone swings at the bouncer, your *** is out the
door. Klipsch owns this club, it's their rules, free speach etc don't
apply in a private establishment. It's not like were the one's paying
for klipsch's bandwith bills to host these forums and all our pictures
on it.
-Joe
No, she is not a bouncer. And I quote:
"My job is to monitor the forum to make sure it best represents
Klipsch. I'm not here out of enjoyment, to learn about audio, or to
make friends--I can't just leave when I don't like what's going on. My
job is to fix it. The difference is huge."
-
I believe we are talking
about two different individuals. One, the subject of the locked thread,
is dragonfyr. The other one is the
unidentified-to-us person who made a rude suggestion to Amy. The issues
involved in the two cases are considerably different. dragonfyr, for instance, owned Klipsch speakers before Amy was even born. Banning him is outrageous.
What on earth does owning Klipsch speakers before I was born have to do with anything? That's gives you license to offend?
AGAIN,
you have no idea what you're are talking about. The
offensive threads in question are gone, as are the new people who were
simply looking for help. End of story.
OFFENSIVE TO WHOM?
DEEMED OFFENSIVE BY WHOM?
PLEASE, HELP ME UNDERSTAND!
Y'ALL KNOW I'M JUST A DUMB OLE HILLBILLY AS POINTED OUT BY ANOTHER LOVING, NON-OFFENSIVE FORUM MEMBER
-
Jimmy, that might go to show that Amy is
alot more tolerant than she might otherwise be. And, of course,
there are degrees of everything. Nothing new about that.

Are the posters like the one with the vulgar reference to fellatio in the Diana Krall thread banned?
Are they good representatives of the image Klipsch wants to project?
Must be, because the genitals, bodily functons, sexual comments,
drinking etc. etc. etc. seldom seem to raise an eyebrow.
Depravity and profanity seem to go unchecked here.
Selected offenders and offended, as well as I can tell.
As long as everybody's happy, filth is fine.

Jimmy, would you speak to your boss with the
same disrespect if he said that to you? Come on now....
Not sure I understand your question.

" I however, will not
put up with it, and shouldn't have to put up with it. I am here
to do a job, not make friends (although it's a nice bonus)"
That's a VERY Hitlerian position for one to assume.
Quite troubling to hear speech like that in America on a forum that's commercially driven and open to the public.
Wow.
I'm
not sure how to react to being compared to Hitler. I think I'll
need to step away for a minute to avoid a knee-jerk reaction.
Ms. Unger,
I did not compare you to Hitler, just your statement.
Read what you wrote as if it were written by someone else, in the
context of a discussion on censorship, or the Patriot Act or whatever
you wish.

hi,
Some of the other forums I belong to ban members for being abusive. I think the moderator of this forum does a good job.
Larry
What in the hell are you folks talking about? It's AUDIO and it's
primarily being discussed by MEN, or at least I thought so.
Wanna talk football, politics or what brand of beer is the best? Then a whole lot more people could be banned.
Political correctness and the feminizing of American men has become ridiculous.
I guess the 95% I keep hearing about are all "metrosexuals" and pose no threat.
This thread is a joke, right?

Ol Art's a good guy, I bought that EAR 890 he reviewed for stereophile from him[]That wasn't SET either[H]
"Ol Art" as you call him is a scumbag. He pumped for long term
renewals of his rag "Listener" right up until about a month before he
closed the doors on it. I personally re-upped for a 3-year
renewal and got "The Audiophile Voice" instead. That may be
standard practice in the magazine business, but it still doesn't make
it right or ethical. Decisions like that are not made that close
to the end AND "The Audiophile Voice" arrived right on cue when
it should have been "Listener". Bait and switch, plain and
simple. Use the cash to pay off creditors or whatever. Gene
Pitts is a damn nice guy who means well, but the best thing about "The
Audiophile Voice" is the cover art, and that's about it. To top
it all off, as you all know, he (f'Art) takes the gig spewing his
liberal crap over at "Stereophool" with all the other English majors.
Why then you might ask, did you subscribe to "Listener" in the first
place, considering how you feel about f'Art and his little
bunnies. Because it was a damn good rag, despite f"Art Dudley
being at the helm.

Hey all,
I posted a while ago about a pair of Heresy's that I picked up for
$200.00, (entitled "Frankenspeakers?"), and I am trying to sand and
refinish them right now, and I have a few questions.
First, the finish that was used on them was an oak lacquer, I am
assuming, and it was not applied terribly well...the finish was shiny
but bumpy, like the lacquer was left on overnight and it attracted dust
and dirt? One the top of one speaker, the lacquer was almost
opaque solid brown, couldn;t the grain at all, looked like brown paint.
Also, I have surmised that the owner had never even taken the grills
off these things, and this was borne out by the fact that the lacquer
dripped down onto the black face above the tweeters about an inch and a
half all the way across the top of each speakers motorboard...a shiny
spiky edge on the matte black paint...fortunately the stuff didn't
enter the horns...
Other than that, the corners are perfect, very few gouges, and they
sound good...so I am in the process of refinishing them. I would
like to make them black stained...but here is the problem. I have
sanded one of them gently down as far as i dare, but the brown lacquer
in still apparent in shadows on the surface of the ply; I do not want
to sand any further, lest I sand off the top layer, but I am afraid
that if I go ahead and get them smoothed down, and apply an oil based
ebony stain, it will be darker when the brown is andd be blotchy.
Is there any way to bleach (for want of better phrase) the birch down
to get it to blonde, so that the stain will be even when applied, or
should I just paint the things black? I thought of rounding over
the corners, but I would like to maintain the integrity of the cabs if
possible. Anybody have a good black stain they would recommend?
If staining is not going to work, and get them as dark as i would like,
I am then considering the industrial black pebbled finish...what do you
guys think?
TIA,
K
Tried to PM you several times this morning, doesn't seem to be working,
I also sent you an email through the forum, maybe they were unable to
do that too.
I recently re-did a pair that I promise you were as bad or worse than
yours. Dirt, grime, purple staining from wine or grape juice and even
pet urine. Mine were raw Birch as well. They can be cleaned without
going through the top ply. If you would like a meaningful attempt to
answer your question, short of going to a cabinet shop or having them
re-veneered, PM me.
I'd be happy to tell you what I know.

I'm in California, if that helps.

Hello all, I recently purchased a VPI
Scout which I think Santa will bring to me for Christmas. My
2nd daughter has first dibs on all my duplicate vinyl, but
has no TT. This morning she mentioned a used TT as a possible
Christmas present if I was still short of ideas (subtle hint,
eh?). Her system is modest, as of yet, consisting of a
Pioneer SX 780 and KG 4's (but she may just end up with the Heresy's
currently in my office) and close to 100 lp's from me.
So my
querry is: are any of you getting a new TT for Christmas and, if
so, do you want to sell your otherwise good condition TT? .
. . . . or do you have a 2nd TT in good condition with which you want
to part?? If so, please pm or email me.
Thanks, Patrick
I have one of these, in near perfect condition. You can have it for $100 plus shipping. PM me if you're interested.

Jimmy:
I've learned more from these
little debates than from any other single source in my lifetime, with
the possible exception of the "Audio Cyclopedia" of yore.
Dave
That's so sad. I'm sorry to hear that.

More of that high brow stuff we hill billies just can't appreciate
-
Well Jimmy, you will notice we are on page 3 of
this thread already and hardly so much as a spark thus far. You would
be surprised what can and cannot be discussed on here - under any title
- whilst the seemingly most mild comment can lauch a Jihad at the other
end of the spectrum.
In the meantime if you follow the provided link - that title is very much the aim of the creator of this $24,000 CD transport.
Point taken and accepted, EXCEPT for the fact that this is not the only
place where this worn out debate is popping up here, in the last day or
so. As you probably already know Max, I'm the guy that's looking
for the 2-channel forum, not the Chevy's better than Ford debating
society.
Try your navel, it's probably more interesting.
-
With a title like this one you guys must really be bored OR you just like making Ms. Unger's life miserable.
Flames anyone?

Mandaville, is that you??? heh...Thank you very
much for your sincere words....I decided I wasn't going to let them run
me off that easy.
kh
I don't know what I've done to you. First you're helpful, then
you're trying to say something I can't quite understand because I don't
know you from squat. Maybe you should email me and spit it out.

Thank you very much
for your sincere words. I do love Klipsch, and decided I wasn't
going to let them run me off that easy.
Jimmy,
Glad you're hanging in.
Thanks

Sorry for the incomplete post.

There is kind of a "frat-boy" mentality around here, isn't there?
Sometimes,
you just have to wade through the sarcasm, insults, "gee isn't
so-and-so great," "gee isn't so-and-so a @$%&*," album cover
analysis, the "my amp is better than your amp" discussions, "here's how
to get wax of a grill" tutorials, etc to get to the meat of the
2-channel forum.
It's not a bad place, though. Lots of good info if you take some time to sift.
And
lots of good off-topic into, too, for sheer entertainment value.
I've learned that I just can't fight it. Best to have fun and
enjoy each other's company, even if some of it is painful to
watch. Case in point directly above.

Hey Timmy, what's up young man?
I can't say why some of these guys are razzing you so badly, I
apologize. CONGRATULATIONS! I am a bit envious, the best I
ever did at thrifts was a $50.00 pair of Heresies. You did
very, very well as I am sure you already know What types of
music do you enjoy? Enjoy your new treasure!
All the best
