All the best, Guy ---------------- Hey playntheblues, Are the diaphragms you bought real JBL or aftermarket? At that price I might still be interested, even though I don't have any Khorns that need fixin'! Guess I could try rigging them up to a pair of Heresys, that might be fun!

Those will definitely fix the T-35 problem that really limits what the Khorn can do. Buddy of mine made the swap and never looked back. Never understood why P.W.K. hung on to that EV compromise for so long.

Including my mint industrial LaScalas with the fibreglass covering and aluminum edges. Set the horn sections face down on the lawn so nothing would fall in them. (yeah, I should have just set em up properly). But here's what happened. It was fairly hot out and the black cabinets must have soaked up the heat. When I picked them up after setting that way for a couple of hours, there was moisture clinging to the metal of the horns and the black fibreglass was now mottled white! The heat must have sucked up moisture from the ground. I immediately set them upright, toweled out the horns, and set a fan up to remove any residual moisture. They're dry and work, but the fibreglass on the front is still mottled. It appears that the cabinets are painted black, then a clear fibreglass mat or gel coat finish is applied. With all the exposed edges that the front panel has (entire perimeter and two horn cutouts) looks like the moisture got between glass and painted wood. Seems like I could remove horns and paint front black, try to strip off the old glass and reglass, apply black formica panel (yuch). I'd like to get them back looking as original as possible. Any hints? Thanks Michael ---------------- If that happened to me I would definitely wait at least a few weeks before I did ANYTHING. I've had moisture get trapped behind facias with the same spotting. I just set them aside out of frustration and when I came back Mother Nature and evaporation had taken care of the problem. These water spots came from a sort of steam, so there's probably not a lot of salts and stuff in the spots. You might get lucky. Try to relax and not think about it. Give it a little time.
  4. Wait until he finds out they're full of Radio Shack driver's and all the dustcaps have been used to ring door bells

I think my wife's done having babies though. She got to break the trend when our last child and only daughter came along and named her Valerie. Now we've got two "VJ" days around here!

There was a Jimmy James who was a captured RAF officer and who was part of the actual Great Escape during WW II. There was Jamaica Jimmy James & the Vagabonds - a sixties soul group. There is a Quebec jazz guitarist named Jimmy James. Then there is this Jimmy James, oooops , who I'm sure is NOT you. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/JIMMYJAMES.jpg"> ---------------- Glad you like it! While we're on the subject, my wife's name is Jean James, my oldest boy Jackie James, and the youngest boy, Jeffrey (Jeff) James. Now what do you think of that? How's that for a theme?

I got a mixed bag of amps and receivers, nothing fancy, just nice and reliable. As for wires and cables, I use zip cord for speaker hookup or the old style Monster when it's on sale. Buy interconnects the same way, whatever's on sale and made decent. I spend my money on music, but may go bigger in the speaker department after we move this summer, been house hunting all week for a decent lease. Better not let the old lady catch me here with you guys!
  9. Finally took the leap and signed up. Love talking all things hi-fi! Don't tell the wife though, she claims I waste enough time as it is!
