  1. Above you say -- move the subs around. Does this mean that I need to get then together somehow? Meaning they need to either be side by side or on top of each other, but NOT on opposite sides of the room? I can do this rather easily.
  2. Do you sacrifice sound quality by going through a wall plate? Adding another connection to the mix...
  3. On the Emotiva website I saw a back view of the UMC-1. My current sub cable from my AVR is a RCA type connection, however the UMC-1 has a different connection. Is this just a simple cable swap? I would need to find a way to connect it to the Klipsch KA-1000 sub amp.
  4. I read the link... however it was for an old AVR and didn';t deal with the KA-1000. My AVR is ~5 years old Pioneer VSX54 and has one sub out. To make this simple... is it correct to say that I am set up correctly by having one cable go from the AVR to the top left post on the KA-1000? My goal is to have them operate as one unit... right? Even with this goal, I may need to consider my placement as I have one in the left front of the room and the other in the right front of the room.
  5. When does someone use a "Y" connector with these subs and KA-1000? Right now I have a Belkin subwoofer cable running from my AVR to the top left plug on the KA-1000. What does the "Y" connection offer?
  6. Does the UMC-1 still have issues... or is it safe to purchase? Specifically the signal drops...
  7. Is the UMC-1 certified at "THX Ultra II"? I tried reading the description, but didn't see it listed specifically. Also, I saw that it is HDMI 1.3. Is the HDMI 1.4 only for 3D? When does the update to the UMC-1 come out?
  8. Will there be any sales on the UMC-1 soon?
  9. I run the Ultra THX II off a Pioneer Elite 54VSX. My main goal of going to the store was to hear a separate set up -- I haven't heard many setups and just wanted to find out what I should be listening for and a somewhat benchmark for my setup. I like how my system currently sounds, but it's always easy to get carried away with this stuff. Before returning to the forum, my plan was to get a regular pioneer receiver with HDMI... then started to look at amps... then started to look at better receivers... then now back to amps. Was looking at the Emo UVA-7 simply per the recommendations on this board (and the price point). Was thinking about hooking this up to my current receiver, and then getting the processor when a good deal came up. Will a new processor (assume UMC-1) really make a difference in sound, or will it just offer more features? As a note... my favorite thing in listening is to hear the surround sound (planes flying overhead, doors shutting, wind, people walking from behind, etc).
  10. I'd love to, however am in Austin -- thanks for the offer. I did go to a local store and listen to a Rotel amp / pro set up. It's hard to tell in a store setting, but the sound did have "pop".
  11. Does Klipsch offer any recommended system setups for their products? Example, "we recommend this amp and this X, Y, Z with this speaker series".
  12. Not a traditional "investment", but maybe "wise" money. Example, to get the same quality of sound I may have to spend $1300 on an AVR, but if I put the $600 into an amp and then only upgrade a processor over time -- then I may come out even or ahead. OR maybe I am trying to justify the expense!
  13. I've seen many Amp vs AVR threads (and chimed in on many, and learned quite a bit along the way -- thank you), but does anyone still recommend an AVR over an Amp? Things seem to always lean towards the Amp. I am close to pulling the trigger on the Emotiva UPA-7 and just looking for a little more push. If I've already got money put into the THX Ultra IIs d I owe it to myself to go ahead and invest in the amp? Does anyone still make a case for the AVR? I like the way my stuff sounds -- just wondering what it could sound like!
  14. Emotiva UMC-1 + UPA-7 or Pioneer Elite SC37?
  15. The confusion was likely on my end -- as I didn't know the names of my speakers! Just to confirm, I have my KL 525's (rear) mounted with Omnimount 100 Series (this may be from 5 years ago - didn't them on their website, but the imprint on the mount says 100 series). This brings up another question. A sticker on the KL 525's say max input of 100 watts. In other threads I was asking the difference between 100 and 110 watts AVRs and then asking about separates (saw some amps with 200 watts per channel). Does this mean that these speakers can't take more than 100 watts per channel? The fronts saw 150 watts per channel.
  16. Yikes -- I misspoke. I thought the 525s were the rear ones (just realized they were the sides). I use an Omnimount for the rears, but the sides are fluish mounted to the wall. Looking back, I wish that I would have used a mount for the sides since I had to cut a hole in the sheetrock for the 525 speaker plugs. I am really not sure why Klipsch built them not able to flush mount. If you use a mount on the sides, then you will likely need a wide room other wise you may have to duck around them (depending on room configuration). I'll check the model of the rear mount. Whatever I have I am pleased with. For the side, I would use whichever mounts are the slimest -- the speakers are not that heavy.
  17. I used the Omnimount 30.0 for my 525's. I always go overboard on the strength -- also ensured that I mounted into a wall stud. Have not had any trouble with speakers moving or slanting, etc. Only problem is me hitting my head on the speakers from time to time while vacuuming (will cause some pain). Be sure to adjust the bolts after a few days from mounting to ensure all is tight.
  18. Bumping post after the weekend -- want to ensure that I am not damaging my system per the previous post...
  19. I just re-ran the microphone test that comes with Pioneer Elite receivers. Under something called "Expert" settings I played with something called "Base Peak Settings" -- this was cool. It starts the subs at 80 and then you can change the level -- I got down to almost 0 and my walls were almost shaking -- I could hear stuff on the wall moving. Anyone else try this? Is this the way I make my subs rumble more?

    Streaming Movies

Glad I asked... I had been told before that there was no difference...
  21. Maybe it is time I start enjoying some music! I have found myself asking all these detailed questions and just last night I found the one of my side speakers wasn't even playing at all! Too many balls from a your kid must have caused one of the wires to come loose.

Do BluRay dvd's provide better audio that a regular dvd?

    Streaming Movies

I just found this on their website -- I guess I have just been getting the wrong movies... Format: DVD, Blu-ray and streaming (HD available)
  24. Is it possible to "stream" movies in HD? Example: Can I stream movies from Netflix in HD quality using a PS3?
