  1. Thanks for the feedback wuzzer. One more question...should I split the lines going to the subs and run into both the LFE and Line inputs at the same time? And while I'm at it, this is what the knobs on the sub control say; "Line Level" and "Bass Countour". I'm assuming Line Level is the volume control, but what is "Bass Contour"?
  2. Gotcha...so I should probably be running into the LFE input then... So, how can I control the volume of the subs? BTW, the Denon website sucks and I was unable to find anything other than a cheesy FAQ and downloadable manual.
  3. Okay...a little more info. I was running the input into the LFE input. If I plug them into the Line inputs, then I can control them with the knobs. So my question now, should I be running them through the LFE or Line inputs? My Denon literature is so vague. I don't even know what LFE means...
  4. Hello all, I'm running a pair of RP-3's for my fronts on a Denon 3803. As you know, the RP-3's have the built in, 10" subs. For years, I signaling the sub through the speaker input, but recently decided to split the sub-out on my receiver and run directly into both RP's. Now, the two knobs that control the volume and frequency have no effect. The bass is out of control!! I thought I blew them watching War of the Worlds the other night. I've tried turning down the db's in the level controls, but then I find that the subs will sometimes not kick on at all...I'm assuming due to lack of bass signal? should I go back to pulling the sub signal off the speaker connections, or is there a way I can control the bass? Hope I'm posting this in the right spot. Thanks
  5. Thanks a ton!! That actually helped quite a bit. It looks like I'll be going with something between the RS-25's and RS-7's for the side surrounds. Thanks a million
  6. I'd have to go out of state We used to have Soundtrack/Ultimate Electronics, but they closed all the stores here. I have a couple of custom installers that carry the Reference series, but neither of them have anything for demo. Freakin' sucks!!
  7. Okay, I was going to go with some RCW-5's for my rear channel and RCR-5's for my sides in a 7.1. The line I had for the RCR's fell through, so I'm still looking for the side channels. In another post, someone mentioned their satisfaction with RS-7's for sides and RCW-5's for rears. I can't afford the RS-7's, but I can afford a pair of RS-25's or R-5650C in-walls. I really just don't know which route to go . Is there even enough sound coming through the side channels for it to matter? I don't have a retailer in my area that carries Reference series anymore, so I can't go listen to them. Sorry for the lame post, but I really need some input here. Building a new house and I want to get this right the first time. Thanks!!
  8. I was wondering about creating an enclosure for my in-walls. I could put a couple pieces of blocking above and below the speaker location, and seal it with caulking before I put the sheetrock up. Anyone tried this before and have some results? Thanks!

Sorry, but your builder needs to be called out a bit. He works for you, and is building your house. It's not just a signed contract between you and the builder, you have put down money that is non-refundable if you back out. I'd guess you were working with a mass-builder who has several developments going at once. I didn't stand for it with my last builder, and I wouldn't recommend you standing for it either. Find out if there's code for running speaker wire in your city and if they require any kind of "licensed" installer for it. If not, set him straight. If they do, go get as many bids as you can and force his hand on the price. Seriously, make the builders life a living hell if you have to. Get out there with your tape measure and find every single thing you can to make them redo. I just WOULD NOT let the builder take advantage of you...it's a matter of principle.
  10. I've just gotten my hands on a pair of RCW-5's and RCR-5's to use for my side and rear channels in my 7.1 setup. I was wondering if anyone could give some good advice as to which spots to put them in. I've heard the RCW's are "bossy" but the RCR's distribute rather evenly. Should I put the RCW's behind and the RCR's on the side? Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
