  1. I have well over 400 albums from the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. Listened to Aqualung last night through the Forte's, awesome! My old Denon table is a little the worse for wear however. It still has the old Concorde cartridge. Still works fine but I may have to invest in a newer table one day. Wish I had my old Garrard back! I was digging through my albums and found my Blue Cheer record, Vincebus Eruptum. Not in the greatest shape but still plays well. Cranking blues/rock from the "first" Heavy Metal band! Those guys could play! May have made Eddie C turn over in his grave! Is Parchment Farm the first heavy metal song?
  2. Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I may just live with it for a while and maybe I'll forget about it? I like my Yammy! It has a decent phono stage and an ajustable loudness that helps the low bass at lower volumes.
  3. Just picked up a pair of Forte's. The dust caps on the passives are pushed in. I know it shouldn't affect the sound but it bugs the crap out of me. Any suggestions on how to pull them out? I am going to leave the potted plant ring alone. Got them cheap and they sound great! Currently using a Yamaha RX-777 100 watt receiver. Any help would be appreciated!
  4. Pardon me, 26" kick drum! Sorry
  5. Maybe a trick question on Bonham's, HAH, replacement. I think Plant and Page were going to do something with Yes drummer, Alan White and bassist Chris Squire but I don't think that got off the ground. I think Phil Collins played with them on some type of reunion tour? Just like the Who without Keith Moon, it aint' the same! My room is 20'x 18' with vaulted ceiling. They are about 5' apart and the listening position is 10' away. This is about the only place I can put them at this time. I want an alive sound that has little coloration. I don't need the bass to pound my chest but I want it accurate. I want Mick Jagger to sound like Sir Michael Phillip Jagger! When David Gilmore bends the strings, I want to hear the higher octave correctly! When Bonham kicks that 22" drum, it needs to sound like a 22" drum! I think accuracy is the key and there is not a more accurate speaker than a Klipsch! Sorry to preach to the choir! It is just which Klipsch? I may get away with something as large as a Forte' but even that is pushing it. I really want to like the Heresy's as my wife actually likes their look and they are a Heritage. I am determined to tweek as much as needed to make them work! Thanks for putting up with my ramble!!! As a newbie, I really appreciate all the input!
  6. I don't have time to play the tube game right now. My guitar amp is a 1974 SUNN model T. It is the only tube amp I have ever used that is nearly bullet proof! Still screams with the best of them! Makes my Showman Cab with the two JBL D130's sing! Bring on the Bassman's and Marshall"s. It doesn't go to 11 though.
  7. I will certainly invest in some angled risers! I am also going to have Bob Crites over-haul the crossovers. In the meantime, I will drag out my JBL L-36's. Yes I have a piar if JBL's. My late uncle gave them to me years ago so I have to keep them! Not a bad speaker for what they are.
  8. I don't think I am the dullest tool in the shed but, I don't get it?
  9. Hi Guys, Wow, thanks for all the info.! In truth, my wife is a GREAT LADY! In our new house, with all of her stuff, there is just no room for the Corwalls. I will try and find some angles risers on ebay and give them a try. I have had a few subs and have not found one that would integrate well with my speakers. When I got the Cornwalls, I sold my Velodyne sub I had at the time, did not need it! A friend of mine has a Sunfire sub that he really likes. Maybe I will borrow it and try it out. I know where there's a pair of Forte's for sale in great shape, $425. I had a pair that I partially traded for the Cornwalls. Maybe they would be the ticket if I can't get happy with Heresy's? These Forte's come with the customary raised plant ring and pushed in dust caps on the passives.
  10. I will check it out later today. I believe the mid horns in my Heresy's are plastic. I guess I will pull off the back and check to make sure.
  11. I have them on 18" Lovan stands flanking my entertainment center. They are away from the corners and about 6" from the back wall. Just about the place I have to put them.
  12. Thanks for the info. I had an old pair of original Advents that benefitted by stuffing the cabinets but they are a different animal. I guess the crossovers may be the ultimate answer?
  13. Thanks for the reply Michael. Yep, played drums for over 30 years! Bonzo was THE MAN! Would you caulk around the edge or mouth of the horn then re-attach it to the front baffle? Bear with me, I am not "Handy Dan."
  14. I'm am brand new to the site. Just bought a pair of Heresy's to replace my Cornwall's. I just got married, enough said! I would like a "quick fix" to mellow the upper mids some. I really don't want to mess with the crossovers at this time. Maybe dampen the mid horn or some poly-fill? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I think the Heresey's are from 1983.
  15. Hi, Brand new to the sight but not new to Klipsch. I have had in the past, K-horns, LaScala's, Chorus, Heresy II's, Forte' I's, and Cornwall's (my favorite). I recently got married and my new wife said,"I do not want those two washing machines in my lving room!" So, my beloved Cornwalls's are gone. At least I sold them to a friend so I can go visit them. I found a mint pair of Hersey's which just arrived yesterday. I believe they are 1983 models. They pass the WAF test. Certainly not as much low end as the Cornwalls and a bit brighter in the upper mids than I remember with my Heresy II's. Any suggestions on a quick fix to mellow them out a little. I really do not want to mess with the crossovers at this time. Would damping the mid horn and some poly-fill in the cabinet help? Any assitance would be appreciated.
