  1. Yep, I went through the setup manually. I looked at the individual channel levels and the center was set to -4.5dB. I bumped it up a little. along with the others to keep the balance. I noticed that when the system set the speakes to large, it was really pushing the 63Hz and 125 Hz bands quite hard. By setting the speakers to small, it allows the sub to do all the work at that low freq. I can tell that the CATV DVR puts out quite a bit less than the PS2 and I understand that one should let the amp do its job. I am just dissapointed by the difference between the impression I received at the HT show room and what I have at home. Not even a close comparison. The show room was using a 110W per channel NAD amp, so I thought 110W is 110W.
  2. I am in need of direction concerning my RB75 HT set up. Let me start by listing my components. RB75 fronts, RC7 center, RS7 surrounds, RSW15 sub. I am driving this with a Pioneer Eliter VSX-54TX integrated amp. Since I obviously spent all of my money on the speakers, I am currently using a PS2 as my DVD piped in via component video/ optical audio cable. I have a Scientific Alanta HDTV DVR for CATV via HDMI/ optical, and I supply music via a Apple airport extreme/ Imac G5 combo over wireless 80211.g. My problem is that the audio output seems to be too low for a given volume setting. I am running -20 dB before there seems to be any presence. To top it off when I use the internal EQ on the 54TX, I hit current limit easily and it shuts down. I set the speakers to THX small and it will go a little farther, but when called upon to really deliver during peak requirements, it shuts down. I used 12 guage wire and gold plated bananas to connect everything, so I am almost convinced it is not a connection proble. I am very confused and need a little educating. I am open to all reasonable suggestions. Thanks!
  3. Thanks to everyone for the input. I finally found some wall/ceiling mounts that could hold the weight at a local store and then fabricated adapter brackets from aluminum bar stock. I mounted them from the ceiling and pointed them down directly at the center of the viewing area. They look great an sound better than I expected since they had to be mounted so high. (12 ft.) Now I am off to find a sub! Thanks again.
  4. My family room is far from optimum for a HT system. The right front is far too close to the center and I have no long wall in the rear for the surrounds. No one in town stocks ceiling mounts that will accommodate my RS7's so my question is, can I mount them directly to the wall 90 degrees opposed? I know that Klipsch recommends 180 degrees opposed for optimum performance, but the architect who designed this house didn't read the spec sheet. Heck, I can't even get them on the same wall with any seperation. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for your insight. It was very helpful. I went with the RB 75's, the RC 7 and the RS 7's. Now all that remains is selecting my sub. Thanks again.
  6. I am about to pull the trigger and buy a new home theater system. I have it down to either the RB 35 package or the RB 75 package. My question is, "Is the RB 75 package really twice( $$$) as good as the RB 35? " I realize that opinions will vary from person to person, but I would like ot hear from those that had to make this or a similiar decision before.
  7. I used to own a pair of La Scalas and loved them. Unfortunatley, I was forced to sell them almost 15 years ago. I have recently decided to invest in a decent Klipsch HT system and I have a question. I am considering buying the RB-75 HT package. I found the RB-75's, RC7 and RS7's on Ebay for what seems to be a good price (about $500 less than retail) but no sub. Has anyone heard of this company? ProSound Discount.com Any feedback would be appreciated. Also, one retailer in town praises Klipsch subs as the best around. I listened to the RSW 15 as a part of a RS7 HT system and was very impressed, but another retailer says he now refuses to carry Klipsch subsin his inventory. Claims they are are inferior. I know everyone has an opinion, but an authorized Klipsch retailer refusing to stock a particular speaker? He suggests a Velodyne sub. Any ideas as to why? Thanks in advance.
