Our humanity is in question if good people sit by and do nothing.

As an example, there are now and always have been bad cops. But the good out number the bad by huge percentages.

Yet there are places in this country that are serious about dismantling their police forces.

Where are the voices of the rational leaders in these communities?

Life is complex but simpler if you see the innumerous bell curves we experience. Bad plumbers, great plumbers. Bad car mechanic, great car mechanic. Politicians, law enforcement....all bell curves.

Revoking the licenses of the bad actors seems broke in allot of situations.

my list would be pretty close , but I would put    BB KING as the best ever ,Hendrix , Santana   ,  and then a  Brits list  - Gilmour - Sir Paul   Lennon, Harrison , Clapton , May ---it's hard to say who's the best , but we all know these guys are either deceased or  in their 70's or 80's, so we are blessed -

B B King is at a level all his own. Think I saw him 7 times.

Nice pivot. You did mention the previous administration by name. Even a blind pig knows the party affiliation of the prior administration as they do the current one.

To answer you question, we were not funding research there, we were funding research in the US relying on data collection in China. A portion of the grant was sent to a scientist in China to continue collecting data in China from bats, from people near the bat caves (for antibodies), and in that lab.

More funding for another study involving that facility happened in 2017 on a different project. I can't find the status on that grant yet. The 2014 bat study was in fact extended in 2019, thanks for clarifying.

I'm trying to understand the link you are suggesting between the Did either study, funded by NIH to a nonprofit in New York which has been receiving grants to study virus outbreaks from.animals.to.jumans for over twenty years. Did tjhis cause the outbreak?

If people are interested in the scientific implications of pulling that grant for dealing with with the current pandemic,  AND.to be prepared for future potential outbreaks, here is a pretty good overview of what virologists in US think:

    https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/04/nih-s-axing-bat-coronavirus-grant-horrible-precedent-and-might-break-rules-critics-say#

“The reason our grant was renewed for 5 years is because our work is so important in helping prevent pandemics,” Daszak says. In its first 5 years, the grant produced a score of papers and advances, including genetic sequences of two bat coronaviruses that have now been used as lab tools to test the antiviral drug remdesivir, which has shown some promise as a treatment for COVID-19.

“I am shocked by this,” says Mark Denison, a Vanderbilt University virologist who launched the lab studies that led to remdesivir’s deployment in the current pandemic. “There is no more important research than what EcoHealth Alliance is doing. Our work on Remdesivir absolutely would not have moved forward without it.”

Here is the grant funding information:

    https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/AwardDetail?arg_AwardNum=R01AI110964&arg_ProgOfficeCode=104

Gain of function studies and creeping around in bat caves and other remote environments as a virus hunter I find to be ethically bizarre. Playing god with DNA I infer creates catastrophic unintended consequences. Humans doing stupid stuff.

You made my case for restrictions on immigration. Family size of USA born citizens is reducing. The 90 million increase in USA population came from elsewhere.

The way you rationalize the pandemic, it never ends; but I think you forgot to consider "intent", as in was it intentional or unintentional? In the case of the current pandemic, I believe China knowingly allowed this to occur. Their economy is hurting now, and they're missing badly the business as usual swamp rats. Dig deep enough, I'll bet G. Soros was involved.

A little surprised to open the Klipsch Forum News and see the virus collapsed on itself. Vaccinated right before my eyes. Seemed nearly half the 244 pages were of a political nature, and many my moderators. Last few comments weren’t much different than 5, 10, 20 pages prior. Oh well, Rona moves with or without the Forum.

Now on another virus related development - even here in the Midwest, meat and grain capital of the country, seems meat shortages are slowly beginning. Costco today no fresh ground beef, no pork of any kind, no whole chicken, limits of one on several fish type products but had whole briskets, bought 2x twenty pounders and pieced them out.
And another shortage - freezers. We have a smaller one that will soon be full so I thought another might be in order. Went to Lowe’s and HD. Lowe’s has been out for weeks and none in sight until late June. Ordered one from Menards for mid May.

In my new hometown of Ionia Michigan, Herbrucks egg farm is the largest east of the Mississippi. I do not expect them to close due to workers testing positive. Allot of young people work there who are unlikely to be incapacitated by the virus. Operation is highly automated as well. A situation to be followed up on.

Many have advocated that the best way to control the population is through controlled starvation.  When you are standing on line for 8 hours hoping to get enough food to live one more day you are likely to do what you are told to do by the ruling elite.

After the last crash I was determined to never be dependent on the instability of the world around me. I have three freezers, grow 12 pigs a year, harvest 2 deer a year, grow veggies and fruit, manage 20 egg layers and I am going to put in an order for 50 meat chicks.

After the last debacle crashed my house value 55% it was an unplanned wake up call.

He started expensive businesses which failed, at which time he lost a lot of money. Now just his own, but other peopls money as well. Plus the people who were hurt when they lost their jobs. Perhaps he really has no conscience.

Interestingly enough big money investors still invested with him. My inference is quite a few times the government permits and inspectors slowed a project down so long gthe business conditions changed and the business model was no longer sound. You do not graduate from the Wharton School of business by accident. I do not like Trump much but I like career politician lawyers less.

I’m sure he had some nice qualities, but chronic meanness on this forum  made me totally uninterested in getting to know him.  It’s unfortunate that he felt compelled to be a mean bully just because the Internet insulated him from the consequences of his boorish behavior.  I prefer when people treat each other with civility and respect whether interacting face to face or over the Internet.

My wife calls it short man syndrome. LOL I would have not made it 37 years in sales to the auto industry with such a bad attitude. Makes for a lonely life.

Agreed! The supposed experts do no know much. In Michigan the median age of fatalities which is hard to find is 76 years.

Oddly Japan has less than 400 fatalities. Integrity of immune system has allot to do with survival. USA beverages and processed food are horrible for immune health.

The anonymity of a keyboard brings out the worst in some people.  Some here will remember Parrot.  IMO, he was one of the most unpleasant people on the forum.  Many years ago I had an opportunity to meet him in person at an audio event at a hotel in Southfield,  MI.  Instead of the arrogant belligerent *** from the forum, he was a scrawny dork who couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag.  After a perfunctory exchanged greeting I avoided him.  He had been mean too mean to too many for too long for me to waste time on him.  I believe he was banned shortly thereafter.

He was mean. He did not suffer fools quietly. Him and I got a long well. My Belles were his rears in his K Horn front multichannel room. He had VRDs and  Lenco turntable. Parrot was over the top right but knew his audio. A dorky book editor.

Exactly. I read all sides but believe the one that seems to be a real reflection on how things end up working over time. CNN = disinfomation and agenda driven lies to support the downfall of the constitution and people like Rush and Trump are on Jeffersons side. I want America for my children not a luke warm version of socialism and ever declining freedoms and standards of living. I do not need a nanny and I don't want to dictate how my neighbors live but I also don't want them in my business.

Funny how the nanny state socialists distance themselves from the inspiration of Mao and Stalin. Also funny we unwillingly gave up freedom in The un Patriot Act and there are China Communist spies and lobbyists all over the USA. DHS is just another corrupt inefficient bureaucracy.

50 years of failed socialist experiments in the big cities, education and the likes of Venezuela to start a list, are lost on the illogical left.

Every Communist must grasp the truth; "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun."

"Problems of War and Strategy" (November 6, 1938), Selected Works, Vol. II, p. 224.

The seizure of power by armed force, the settlement of the issue by war, is the central task and the highest form of revolution. This Marxist-Leninist principle of revolution holds well universally, for China and for all other countries.

    Ibid. p. 219.
