  1. I want to pass along what i think is a great deal, and I have a question... I recently purchased a new TV and Receiver to upgrade my media room. After the Geek Squad guys who delivered my TV explained that the my PS3 wasn't the newest version, and won't deliver true HD audio to my receiver, I was certainly disappointed. My receiver is VSX-23TXH and even though I was able to find it at a phenomenal price, I already have the "should I have bought the SC-25?" syndrome. I decided today to do a little research on a nice BD player. I found what appears to be a great deal on the Pioneer Elite BDP-23FD. Does anyone have this, or know anything about it? I found it at Vanns for $249 shipped with a free (Auioquest?) HDMI cable. I am not sure if the cable is worth anything, and the debate on HDMI cables will probably be long lived, but for free I can't complain. Since the receiver and BD player are both Pioneer they are able to share some info making the setup easier I believe. I just ordered this, but I want to make sure that I don't have the "Should I have bought the Oppo" regret, if that's even possible. I just want t make sure that the BD player is on par with my TV (Panny TCP65v10). I know it's not 3D and I don't really care as my receiver won't support HDMI 1.4 anyway. Input? Ans for those that thought I was nuts going from Heritage to RF for my surround system... You were correct! I am setting my Heresy II's back up and I have a 5th OTW for the center channel. Until it arrives I am running three for the front stage and I'll probably hook up the brand new, but soon to go to a new home RS-52's. Does this madness ever stop? BTW I in no way, shape or form have any affiliations with Vanns.
  2. Would it be OK to have Heresy laying on its side serving center channel duty?
  3. I had my 4 Heresy's set up as the front's and rears with my Carver, but couldn't find a setting that workied since i didn't have a center. Are you suggesting that I add another Heresy as a Center? I had planned on moving them downstairs for strictly music use. I initially had the same setup with the Pioneer, but it would only work in EXT. STEREO. There was no dialogue with any other setting. Am I missing something here. It seems like a waste to use the Heresy's as surrounds, as they don't work much there. Is there a speaker that I could use as surrounds that would match with the Heresy's, allowing me to use three across the front? Thanks again.
  4. Yep, two matched pairs. Do you think that the my receiver (Pioneer Elite VSX23TXH) can push 5 Heresy's if I buy another for the center channel? If I remeber correctly my Heresy II's are 4 Ohms, right? I'm not really sure what issues that presents. I formerly had all Carver components when I bougt these speakers in the early 90's.Due toa break-in in the late 90's I lost all of the components and the insurance company stuck me with a Carver HTR885.1, which is great, but way outdated for HT use.
  5. Well, Not an upgrade regarding music, just surround sound. I didn't imaigine that 4 Heresy's without a CTR channel would sound better than a decent ACTUAL SS setup.
  6. Oops. I went back and corrected all of the typos in my inital post. Most notably the room dimensions. I was fighting off sleep when I made the initial post. I hope this makes more sense now.
  7. Well, I made some time very late last night to at least conect all of the speakers and watch some HD TV for a a hort while. I must say that currrently I am dissapointed. Now I haven't touched any of the setting on my receiver yet, so I hope it all gets better. Maybe the speakers I chose are too small for the 14x19 room I have them in. The center channel seemed very directional and almost hollow sounding ( I can't think of another way to describe it. To be fair I didn't throw a blu-ray in yet, but I will do that shortly. My first impression was that my 4 Heresy's, without a center channel, run in EXT. STEREO, had a much more full sound to them. Am I off base here. Maybe had I chosen the towers ILO of the books? What would be the best towers to match with this setup?
  8. Thanks folks. I won't be switching center channels however as I have a Standout Designs Horizon N702 being delivered on Monday. The center channel shelf is perfect for the 62, in fact it is featured on their webpage with the 62 in all of the pictures. It won't accomadate andextra 8" in center channel width. That is of course unless I decide to mount the plasma on the wall, which I have been debating. Why did I come here? LOL. So do you think my current setup will give me decent sound? I had originally intended on going all Heresy, but finding a way to make that big center speaker look good was more than I wanted to mess with.
  9. Hi folks. Due to a busy schedule lately I haven't had a chance to setup my speakers that just arrived two days ago. I meant to post here for opinions before I bought everything, but never got around to it. I am just looking for opinions on how this setup should perfrom. Here is what I have... Pioneer Elite VSX23TXH RC-62 Center RB-61 Books RS-52 Surrounds And a Veloydyne 10" sub i can't remeber the model off of the top of my head. It's not near top of the line, but my media room is upstairs and it seems to preform pretty well. The room is 14' x 19'. I having been running a half a$$ setup with four Heresy's and a Carver amp. I finally broke down after just buying a new Pioneer TCP65V10 (Phenominal). The reason am looking for opinions is I am starting to second guess by choice of Books. Maybe I should have gone with the RB-81's. Is there much of a difference? I am considering ordering some 81's and moving the 61's back. Thanks for your feedback.
  10. Would you reconsider shipping the HIII's? If the original boxes are available it would not be difficult. I am a buyer if you will ship. I can be reached at hargisj@aol.com. Thanks.
  11. I probably want to stay around $1200 or less. Thanks.
  12. Any suggestions on a receiver for an all Heresy HT? It must have HDMI input capability. I may wind up with 3 Heresy's and 2 Cornwalls. Thanks for the help.
  13. Have you already sold them? If not, do you have pictures?
  14. OK, I went to two local dealers today... an incredible waste of time by the way. The first store that I visited was recommended by a Klipsch CSR. Let me just give you an idea of the showroom. They sold bathroom medicine cabinets along side Klipsch reference series speakers. They didn't even know what Heresy II's were. Now, I am definitely not an expert, but I could have taught these guys something about the Heritage series. He had to look them up on the web to find out what they were. The Klipsch website even shows this store as a dealer of all but two of their lines. ? ? ? He was kind enough, however to look up another area dealer for me. The high end store (they had some speakers in excess of $40K each) was just as much of a waste of my time. I called the salesperson before I drove there to make sure that they actually carried Klipsch and stocked several models. He seemed knowledgeable on the phone and told me that he grew up 30 miles from Hope, and could not remember not having Klipsch speakers at the house. Of course when I arrived he had no idea what the Heresy model was and had apparently confused it with the La Scala. The customer service just went downhill from there... as he tried to sell me some ridiculous set-up in excess of $20K. So, after experiencing the utter lack of knowledge and customer service available in the area I am extremely glad to have found this forum. I believe that I will be searching for 3 more H II's in Raw Birch or 3 H III's along with a quality sub. Anyone selling or have any experience with a good online retailer? I can't find an excuse to pay for customer service that obviously does not exist. Any suggestions on a new HT receiver to drive these speakers? I am currently running a Carver HTR 885.1 which may be for sale soon.
