  1. Hello there, I'm new here, and I have long been a fan of Klipsch's products. I still have a pair of late 90's KG 2.5's that were being used on a 1978 Marantz model 2252 receiver, and I say "were" because of something I did. I connected my parents old Kenwood Basic M1 amplifier to the outputs on the Marantz, and connected the KG2.5's to it. At 110 watts RMS per channel, the 2.5's handled this fine...that was until I put the volume on the Marantz to about the 12:00 position...with Van Halen (was having a retro day in our house). The system was totally rocking until I heard some crazy squelch noises coming from the left speaker. At first I thought that I cooked the amp on the left side, or the preamp stage on my Marantz, but after testing one of our Mission cabinets on the system, I found that the problem was with the speaker. After taking it in to a shop to have it checked, the woofers and crossover are fine...it's the tweeter that's shot. I've looked all over ebay, and with klipsch directly, and I can't find a K-86-K rebuild kit anywhere. I have since bought a 2006 Marantz SR7500 HT Receiver, and a pair of RB25's to replace my old system and start building an HT. But, I want to be able to rebuild the tweeters in my old KG 2.5's so that I can still use them in another system for listening to vinyl or just 2-ch stereo. If anyone has any of these tweeters or knows for sure where I can find them, it would be greatly appreciated...thx!
  2. Well, like the subject says, I bought a set of RB25's and have them connected via 10 guage monster wires to a 2006 Marantz SR7500 which is being sourced by a flagship JVC DVD player and JVC I'Art Pro TV.... I love the way this system sounds at the moment, which is just the two RB25's, but it's lacking in the low end. I recently went back to EHR where I bought my cabinets to demo a RW8 and RW10. The RW8 sounded very acurate with music, and actually extended very low for an 8", but I had to bring the volume control up to keep up to the RB15's they had it paired to. The price was reasonable, but they were going to offer me a RW10 for only 100 bux more (this was a used/demo model from the speaker room). The RW10 had more obvious presence, and extended deeper, but I wonder if I could get by with just the RW8.... I currently have my stereo in an 8x10 foot room, but will eventually be in a room about 12x14 or larger...any suggestions would be great!
