  1. well, if you read dougdrake's post, it seems I was wrong and the "2-1/2 way" configuration I was referring to is to avoid bass cancellation, not muddying up of the vocals. so I guess you can disregard that.

the only thing left to worry about is what you mentioned, i.e. too wide dispertion that could mess up the imaging, as you won't be using them upright.

  3. some big-speaker "presence", I guess...

also, the RC-7 is optimized for dialogue, if I remember correctly, one of its woofers is disabled for frequencies above a certain point to make vocals clearer, which could mean sacrificing a bit of low bass...

but others have done what you suggest and seemed to like it a lot.

  4. I just wanted to say that there is a big difference between defence and medical insurance: medical insurance is provided on an individual basis, i.e. you get sick, you get treated, while the defence department is in charge of the whole country, It's like collective insurance, the army defends us all collectively, while medicare defends us individually.

this example is a heck of a stretch and it doesn't hold IMO medeneen.

1A: 20Hz to 20,000Hz, although I challenge that, I want my system to go down to 5Hz for wall-destroying capabilities...

2A: The type of market research done by Bose, or the screechy sound made caused by picking up an amplifier's output (through speakers) by a microphone, output which is then reamplified, etc...

3A: Right now it is JA Rule - Always on time that is played with the highest frequency around here... Oh, you meant... ok, 15KHz, but i'm not sure at all. I think i saw that somewhere.

  6. Believe me, I don't hear the fan when I'm playing...

    Turn it UP!!

    :-)

I really like my PS2, but unless you MUST play Gran Turismo 3 or Grand Theft Auto 3, then go with the XBox I think. There are some good games on that system, although I still think the PS2 has an edge up to now.

  7. two flat prong plugs, 120V voltage, 60Hz frequency.

in the back of the receiver there are plugs that could give you an idea.

    another plug in the background...

just took a picture for you, how kind am i?

    http://sebdavid.150m.com/Canada%20Plug.jpg

notice one prong is wider than the other, it doesn't have to be, some appliances use it, some others don't.

as can be seen from the second link, it is possible to have a ground as a third prong, it will be round.

    enough info for you?

  8. well, it would be expensive, I don't know why you'd really want to do that...

we are authorized, so the warranty will be the same, but the taxes and the shipping would most likely make for an expensive purchase...

  10. wait, it says RF7 on the sticker, and then it says 150W?

    if that's so, then it's a typo.

but if it doesn't say RF7 on the sticker, either it's the wrong sticker or the wrong speaker.

check the product pictures to see whether you actually have RF7s and not RF5s.

  11. they won't, it would require too much space, as the compression is MUCH lower (if there is any) than DD or DTS.

unless we have a new high-capacity media that comes around, I don't see how it could be made available to us. plus, imagine the hardware-related nightmare: you'd have to upgrade your receiver or processor, and your DVD player, to be able to take advantage of potentially few software.
