  1. DrWho, Do you have a link to the above mentioned tutorial on winISD? I would love to read it. Thanks, Tim
  2. Hi, I was wondering if there was any clubs, events or listening get-togethers in the SF bay area that a new guy could attend. I'm new to the forum, although I have three sets of heritage speakers. I have never heard Klipschorns! I also have a great interest in tubes. I would love to hear what I have have reading about! Thanks and I look forward to meeting some of you, Tim Oakland, CA
  3. OK - I'm going to start by reworking these as they are now. I certainly see the value in keeping them stock. They look really beat up but actually are in great condition cause they just sat in the theater for their whole life. They have been rolled all over with a flat black, including the trim pieces. Do you know if the trim was glued and screwed or just screwed down? They should shine up nicely. This will be fun. Advice on what to do with the crossovers if anything would be greatly appreciated. Tim
  4. Hi Michael, I'm not for sure going to redo the Industrials. I mainly just want to generate some conversation about what's cool or different about these. I surely wouldn't want to do something to screw up the mojo of the speakers. I guess there are some of you who are really into them the way they are. I think they are very cool too. Do any of you have pics of a clean and good looking example of the H.I.? Tim
  5. Hi Guys, Yes they are ported. I A/B'd them with my 1984 Heresies before I stacked them on top like in the picture. Like I said they sound very different from the newer ones. I don't know if they sound the way they used to cause I've never heard fresh Heresy Industrials. These are ported but the back plate says simply "HI" and not "HIP" like I expected them to after reading the Heresy Industrial thread in the commercial audio section. It has the EV K-42 woofer. The crossover is marked "HIE". Is this different from a regular "E" crossover? Do you guys think this would be something to "freshen up" or completely update. I have never done that but I am game to try. My plan for these is to build new pretty cabinets for them but keeping all dimensions and porting the same. Tim
  6. Michael, Seached both "Heresy Industrial" and "hersey industrial" in the forum search function and was not elightened. It seems the search engine is case sensitive. Inside of these speakers are K -77 (95547) , K-55-V (107661) mid, and K-42 (1255) woofer with EV markings below the Klipsch sticker. The crossover is marked "TYPE HIE". I am listening to these now and they sound very different from my 1984's. They are louder and more open sounding but missing some mid-range. I am thinking of making new cabinets for these with high WAF (I love that term - learned it here) veneer. I would keep the porting, lose the grill, and perhaps upgrade the X-Overs? I would love to hear from you all about this. Tim
  7. Hi Michael, "More on them on a bunch of other threads....." That's great! Can you help me out and direct me in that direction. I have read many, many threads in the '81 on archives to learn something and haven't found it yet. Do Industrial Klipsch go by a different serial numbering? I looked at the web page and it looked like these were old... but I don't know squat! Tim
  8. This is the second pic I tried to insert into the message.
  9. Ok try to get more pics out there...
  10. This is one of the plates of from one of the old Heresies. I just love that the signatures of the guys who put these speakers together is on the back. I think that the guys who made these had to sign off on them to insure quality. If you require a guy to sign his name on something you can be pretty sure it is up to snuff. Would you sign your name to something you didn't believe in? (Well I suppose that happens once in a while.) Where are these guys now?
  11. Hi Forumites, My name is Tim and I have been reading with much interest all the Klipsch mania here and I thought I would share my new Klipsch speakers with you. Let me introduce myself first. I have worked as a stagehand in San Francisco for about 17 years. When I worked at the SF Opera they were purging old gear and they sold me their La Scalas. They refused to let me take them until they had replaced a blown tweeter! My friend bought a pair of Altec VOT from the Opera at the same time. Later I found a pair of 84 Heresy, a speaker I had always admired (pictured with my new find). Through more theater contacts I now have these really cool old Heresies. I have lots of questions but the first is: Are these really 1961 or earlier? The serial #s are 1345 and 1347. I will post more pics of the inside of the cabs as they don't seem to have been opened for about 45 years. Thanks, Tim Wilson Oakland Ca
  12. Hey that was fast! Thanks 3dzapper and William for lots of great reading. Tim Wilson
  13. Hi, I'm a new poster to the forum. What a wealth of information from very enthusiastic people! Thanks. I have heard mention of a collected Dope From Hope pdf and have spent quite a while looking for it. Can anyone direct me to it or share it with me? Thanks, Tim Wilson Oakland, CA
