So Amy and/or Trey, any information about hotels?
James
It's a small town. You can walk between all the hotels, pretty much. Grab 'em while you can.

Mr. Hughes,
Thank you for the H-I clarification. I was wondering how anyone could claim Heresys placed one on the 15th row.
With the HF drivers detached, possibly. ;-)

In the queue, Allan.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Also in the Lutheran world, don't confuse the above with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod or the Lutheran Church Wisconsin Synod. In college the LCA, ALC, AELC all banded together and rotated which soup congregation we would attend. The Missouri Synod group called us the "other" Lutherans. We called the Episcopalian who hung out with our group a closet Lutheran though I think he called us all closet Episcopalians.
I attend a "liberal" Missouri Synod Lutheran church (everyone raises only their right arm during praise worship, at a 45 degree angle).
The Wisconsin Synod folks call us heretics because women are allowed to speak AND vote. ;-)

Dry counties are against my religion.
You're an Episcopalian (like PWK)?
Episcopalian, Lutheran, Catholic, ... Church of the Liquid Spirits...
Episcopalians: Wherever three or four are gathered, there will be a fifth.
I was raised in that denomination, with great fondness of memory (mostly). All in good humor. ;-)

Big score at the Sally over lunch. The Longines Symphonette Complete 5-LP Box-set of Herb Alpert & The Tiajuana Brass (and some Baja Marimba Band cuts) for $2.
My Herb Alpert collection is now complete!

So was that a Sr's discount PM Will be cool to see you and your son-in-law again
Dang!!! I forgot to ask for one! No, it's a "non-refundable" deal through hotels.com.
I may bring BOTH son-in-laws with me so the daughters and their mother can have a Girlfest in Kyle.

I just booked my room, for $55 a night through hotels.com, at the Super 8 Motel in Hope. Either my wife and I and daughter/son-in-law/grandaughter combo, or just the son-in-law and I (he came with me to the last Hope Pilgrimage).
Woo hoo!
Maybe I'll bring some Frazier Concertos to kick some Heresy tail. ;-)

Amy: Although I think it's wonderful it's finally been decided where the pilgrimage will be this year, it's probaly unlikely that Verna and I will be able to attend this time, unless something changes and I am able to find employment and still get the time off needed to drive down and back. Regardless, if something does enable us to be there, you know that we will. Sounds like a fun time. -Glenn
Glenn,
Good luck on the job front. Sorry I won't be able to see you this year!

Count me in for Hope. Looks like I may need to bring a bobtail (just kidding, Honey!).

A book review of interest from The American Scientist.

Please keep your picture sizes down to a reasonable, 72-dpi, size, and when you quote someone, please don't include their previous photo. That will help.
Carry on, Right-This-Minutemen!
Photos hosted off-site (i.e., Picasa, photobucket, Imageshack, my own server, etc.) shouldn't be a problem, should they?

WRR-FM 101.1... my local generic classical radio station.

Steam first... then TiteBond II woodglue.
Nail-guns work great to keep the disc steady on the platter.

I like Garrison Keillor and P.J. O'Rourke.
They are two of the best observers/satirists of American Culture working today... and neither of them are COMPRESSED.

The Loudness Wars: Why Music Sounds Worse
The sad irony of this story is that my local "Hipster Headbanger" NPR music station seems to be doing this (loudness compression) more than the local rock stations do. -
At their best, a good analog FM signal fed to a top notch tuner beats this plastic thingie.
Trouble is, that's almost impossible to find nowadays. This little Sony and HD easily falls into the top 10% of FM tuners I've listened to... and that's normal FM. The HD is slightly compressed, but not really noticible, and sounds better than most regular FM broadcasts.
All INHO, of course, and YMMV.

P.M., it's hard to fathom you having time to listen to radio with all the albums you go through! You must never listen to your wife...
Well, that is a topic of some debate here at Casita Verano.
