I
Congrats PM and like all your vintage gear very pristine You passing those Cornwalls on to your boy?
Not sure. Probably going to sell 'em, but he'd get the "family discount".
-
Man, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but those look WAY too big for your room. You've got balls my friend, I'd be kicked out to the garage, but I'd have one nice 2ch system to keep me warm at night!
It looks that way because the Ks aren't in the corners. That's a 14' wall, and once the K are placed, there will be 12' between speaker centers, with my listening chair 12' out at the apex.

Hy PMSummer...did she force you to dump them on A-Gon?

Nope, but those ARE the very ones I bought.
Dam-n Sam... Short drive AND a sweet price! Can't seem to do that 'round here!
I would be remiss to not thank Klipsch Forum member Phillip Barrett, who kindly alerted me to the speakers' presence on an older CL post, knowing I was looking for some Big Ks. Had he not done so, I would not have noticed the rather dramatic price drop that placed them in the "DAMN THE TORPEDOS, GO GET THEM NOW!" category.

Those Khorns are sweet...they'll eventually grow on her, since they're not going anywhere now that you have 'em (am I right?)!
Oh, I have no doubt she'll get to love them (sonically). And no, the only place they are goiing is into the corners when I get the Cornwalls moved.
-
"Look, sweetheart, I've managed to hide those big boxes you hate so much!"
Just notice the thread...congrats, PM, and welcome to the end game.
Dave
Thanks, Dave, my feelings exactly... and great caption!

Thanks, Greg!
Golly, you do beautiful work!

EM sent from P.M., just in case. <fingers crossed>

<nothing to see here>

I had hoped to get the Cornwalls out before she saw them. Alas.
-
I got my first pair of K-Horns. 1978 KWOs to replace my 1978 CWO Cornwalls (after I beat the Crites into them).
-
But they fit in the back of an F-150.
-
I don't think something the size of two K-Horns will fit in the back of an Escape (after finding the Ford's loading dimensions).
Wish me "luck".

Just askin', but for a real good reason.

Pandora has been an expensive find for me... but not as expensive as the BBC Radio 3 stream. ;-)

"I remain mystified about the failure of these in the marketplace and convinced it is marketing error and peoples expectations of heft for a receiver."
I think you probably nailed it, they don't weigh anything at all, and people associate that with "cheap". The other problem are the prices -- they are simply too low for anyone to take them seriously.
Someone ought to put an 1/8" steel bottom plate like Marantz did in the '70s on some of their integrated amps.
And lot's of lights, too, like a Pioneer.

Wow, $69. I got mine for $50 less than that. It's still hooked up to my faithful Corns and sounds as good as ever.
Currently $39, including power pack.

I can't understand a word they're saying! What kind of talk radio is this?

Bob, have a great day, and THANK YOU for your wealth of wisdom and generosity.
From one O.F. to another, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

My point: If you're finishing out the back, you're not using tem as corner horns, but as free-standing speakers. The bass response is now kaput, so you get a sub-woofer. You've ruined the speaker's design (I know some like it that way, but some people never exceed 50 mph in a Porsche, either, and are perfectly happy).
Perhaps I should have titled the post, "How to convert Klipschorns into Belles".
Think the missus will notice anything when she gets home?
