  1. Thanks for the help guys. I gave it the 'ol college try and didn't really notice any results. Honestly, it's a great sub, but I think I was wanting it to do more than it is capable of. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Defintive Technology PowerField 1800 and by the time I bought this and sold my RW-12D, I actually made some money. The DT is in flawless condition...had to do it. It is one heavy sucker and she gets down ultra low. Anyway, thanks again. Here's a picture of the new beast! Jason
  2. Thanks. Do any screws need to come off to pull that plastic assembly out? I'm assuming you mean not the logo, but the entire plastic piece surrounding the logo. Thanks, Jason
  3. I still have no idea where to apply cardboard, let alone super glue. Any detail or photos would help a lot. Jason
  4. Hi all, I currently have a Klipsch RW-12d that I bought about 3 years ago used. My HT is a movie only environment. The only beef that I've had with the RW-12d is the port chuff with high volume and extremely low frequencies. Other than that, it's a great sub. I have an opportunity to purchase a used Definitive Technology Powerfield 1800 for about 3 bills. It appears to be all there cosmetically and the owner stated that there aren't any mechanical issues. I don't know much about this sub other than it has a 500 watt amp, an 18" driver, no auto on/off, and that it is an older sub. I'm assuming this would hit low frequencies nicely. If you guys have any advice, I'd appreciate any input. Keep my Klipsch? Go with the DT? Any differences? I plan to audition it this week, but I thought I'd get some opinions. Thanks, Jason
  5. Hey guys, I need a recommendation. My Mits HDTV is about 4 years old and it only it has 3 component input jacks that will do 480p and only 1 will do up to 1080i. I have my Sony NS999ES DVD player hooked up to one input as of course it will only do up to 480p and my Hi Def Sat receiver hooked up the the single port that will do up to 1080i to get the benefit of HDTV. Here's my dilema: I want to buy an XBOX 360 and get the whole HD experience with it as well. I don't want to have to pull out my tv and manually disconnect my satellite receiver cables and connect my 360 cables every time. Is there an external component switchbox that I can buy that will allow me to switch between my two 1080i devices with the one input? If so, what do you all recommend?
  6. Sub-12...you won't regret it. I bought mine for $450 at BB and it replaced my SW12II. Never regretted it for a second.
  7. Yeah, I just picked one up for 450, and it is absolutely mind blowing. I just finalized my crossover and gain settings, popped in Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring) in DTS and I seriously feel like I have a brand new system in my house. Best money I've spent in a long time. My SW12II has retired and accepts the defeat.
  8. Well, I have another little 2 channel system in my living room, but I would definitely have a battle on my hands with WAF (wife acceptance factor). That sub is so big, I already know she'd kabosh that request.
  9. Picked up a Sub12 today at BB for $450. I'm still tweaking it and playing around with placement, but folks it absolutely rocks! It runs circles around my SW12II...not that my SW12II was bad by any means. The bass is much cleaner, lower, and detailed! Now I'm wondering what my Parasound gear would do with some mains and center vs what I currently have. This is such a vice for me!!!
  10. I have read other discussions regarding technological differences between subs as time has moved on. I wish someone with an older Klipsch sub comparable to mine would read this thread and give some opinions. From what I understand the SW12II was an upper end sub, but I've also heard that the Sub-12 will go lower and much louder for HT compared to what I currently have.
  11. So how bout that comparison from the Klipsch SW12II to the Sub-12?
  12. Interesting. So today's Synergy series would not make that much of a difference to my 8 year old Polk system? I pretty much figured the Reference series would be a no brainer upgrade, but I'm surprised that the Synergy wouldn't be much of anything. So what about the SW12II compared to today's Sub-12?
  13. Hey everyone, So I currently have a Polk Audio speaker system that is around 8 years old...Polk RT16 mains, Polk RT12 rears, CS350 LS center, and a Klipsch SW12II. Driving the speakers is a Parasound AVC-2500u Pre/Pro with a 2205 (200 wpc x 5) amplifier. Great system, but I'm thinking that as home theater has advanced over the years, it might be time to upgrade. I don't think I can do the Reference series due to my budget, but I am looking heavily into the Synergy series. The current Sub-12 seems to get great reviews, but would I be better off vs the SW12II that I currently have? The Polk system changed over to a F3 main and rears with the C3 center is where I was heading, but again, compared to my Polks, is that comparable or am I going backwards? I have PLENTY of horsepower with my Parasound setup, and I would sincerely appreciate everyone's honest opinions. Cheers!
