  1. SN, Glad to hear another another person has joined the forum! Your wallet, however, will not be.......keep us updated on your system's progress!!!
  2. GC, I am pretty sure the RC-64 will have a better crossover, in addition to a better tweeter than the 62. I will admit this is theorizing, as I have not heard either product yet. I will say this, though: if Klipsch holds to their tradition of manufacturing the Reference top-of-the-line, the -64 will benefit from these (and other factors I am sure Trey or BobG can fill us in on) to create a sound significantly better than the next step down, IMHO. I say this from the experience of listening to the RC-35 versus the RC-7, where there were significant differences that made purchasing the RC-7 a justifiable upgrade from the RC-35.
  3. I cannot say anything about the upconversion, but HD-DVD and Blu-Ray will take a while in terms of format wars (DEF could not tell you when that will be over.....a few days or a few years). I would wait a few years until the dust settles before even thinking of purchasing an HD player. There will be bugs, and it is also probable that the first players will sound inferior to newer generation players (like when the cd-player came out).
  4. I agree with TDK, I also use RB-75's as rears, though I do not feel they are overkill, only because I listen to quite a bit of music in DLPII Music mode. I think either way, the new RB-81's should serve you wonderfully, even if I am still pushing for the Rb-75's [] Please give us a report on their performance if (or when) they arrive!
  5. This is true, though I doubt it will make a difference what the grille looks like compared to your front end if you are using the RB-81's as surrounds. I have RB-75's for surrounds and front ends matched to a RC-7 and it looks fantastic.
  6. Lucas, I am in Manhattan. E-mail me and i will give you more info. I will e mail you those pictures shortly too.
  7. I have an RC-25 for sale for $190.00, obo--in almost new condition (I say this only because it is used). Original box, manaul and speaker cable included. Let me know if interested. I have pictures too.
  8. I agree Fender, WAF will favor the -81, and for surrounds they should be fine, I was just being a bit nit-picky (the better timbre match is the-75, but that is in an ideal world where WAF does not exist). Please let me know how they sound when you get them! Did you order the Cherry or the Black? One other thing: I recently saw the RF-83's and they had VERY different binding posts (I think they were metal, heavy-duty ones), let me know what the posts look like on the RB-81. Another Klipsch purchase is always a plus in my mind..........
  9. Fender, actually it wasn't Trey, it was BobG (who also works with Klipsch. Here is the quote from the topic Rb-81 vs RB-75: Seems there is quite a bit of confusion over the RB-75 and RB-81. Let me try to illuminate. There is no replacement in the new Reference line for the RB-75. That speaker was our effort to provide RF-7-like performance in a bookshelf package. It's a great bookshelf speaker and has the 1.75" compression driver that only the RF-7 and RC-7 shared with it. Very expensive driver and definitely overkill in the bookshelf model where we had to attenuate it to avoid outrunning the woofer output. After all, it was able to (more than) keep up with two 10" woofers in the RF-7. The RB-81 is the replacement for the RB-35; not for the RB-75. The RB-81 has a 1" compression driver that is an upgrade over the RB-35 driver. It is not competition for the RB-75 driver nor for the new 1.25" compression driver in RF-83, RF-63 and RC-64. That new driver is much like the RF-7 driver though its smaller size allows it superior HF extension and pushes the break-up distortion mode further beyond 20kHz. If you want performance like the RB-75, you'll need to find RB-75's. RB-81 is a very nice speaker but it's no RB-75.
  10. Fender, Search the forum, but Trey is quoted somewhere here saying that the RB-81 is the replacement for the RB-35, not the -75 (meaning the RB-75 is better than the RB-81). The RB-75 will match your front better. Also, the build for the -75 is better than the -81, no question (vynil versus wood veneer? no contest). I will try to find Trey's quote somewhere.
  11. Jay and Mark, Thanks for your help. Looks like a cloth is the way to go.
  12. Thanks Mark, I guess ill try a clean cloth, but what about those Orange wood cleaners? Call me a little obsessive, but I like their smell. Maybe a combo of water and alight spray of the Orange should to the trick? Thanks again.
  13. Hey guys, I am curious if any of you use a solution for the wood veneer for speakers like the RF-7, RB-75 or RC-7 (like Murphy's Oil Soap or lemon oil). I recently bought a pair of store display models of the RB-75 (Less than $675 delivered, practically brand new on Ebay in Cherry!! YAY!!! [][][]) and I just want to keep the veneer nice and fresh and also make my speakers smell good. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  14. I am sorry, I'll post this in a different topic. Thanks.
  15. Hey guys, I am curious if any of you use a solution for the wood veneer for speakers like the RF-7, RB-75 or RC-7 like murphy's oil soap or lemon oil. I just want to keep the veneer nice and fresh and also make my speakers smell good. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  16. Thank you CJ, I think I will, though I have to say it is somewhat mysterious why someone would post such a long reply praising the SVS subwoofers so quickly after paul's comments......... I do think this topic should be put to rest. Reading all of the links from Paul, it does seem like people either love or hate SVS subs; but the haters are correct, the SVS people should start their own forum rather than going onto others, if anything to avoid being accused of shamelessly promoting their products. I think the SVS people will always have a vested interest in taking pride in their products and helping others to solve issues with them, but they shoould do so in their own forums (like Klipsch does). Haters of SVS should just move on and relax. If you like your sub over SVS, great; but people that can afford expensive subs (specifically the guy with the Revel) should not feel threatened by people whose subs are, what, a tenth or twentieth of the price? If I own a Buggati Veyron and a guy tells me his Porshe is a better value (or what-have-you), I think I'll live..........
  17. I am thinking Late March for the new subs, but you may want to post this in the Powered Subwoofer section to see if anyone else knows....Dont know much about the RF-83, just that they are LOOONG from front to back, LOL.
  18. RW-10, no question. The Denon will not be anywhere near as linear as the RW-10 as far as frequency response. Though you are correct, we are all biased Klipsch people, there is no doubt as to which is better. Kind of like comparing a Dodge Neon to a BMW 325i. Simply a no brainer.
  19. Hey guys, Thanks for the input....I think I am going to go with a single Ultra. Oh! Does anyone have any pics of SVS version of cherry? is it very different from the Klipsch version? Thanks again!!
  20. Jay, I actually, I meant save the money to afford the new subs from Klipsch. The new ones look to be pretty steep from the RSW's, you are right. Ill try to do a search for that posting. So if these subs sound different than the RSW's, should I just get a Klipsch sub and forgo the SVS?
  21. They do indeed have cherry, at least according to thier website. I was looking at the RSW-15, but I was gonna wait until the new subs come out (and save the money) if I go for Klipsch. Thanks Jay! Any other thoughts guys?
  22. Hey guys, I have a 7.1 setup with RB-75's as fronts and (soon to be) surrounds, an RC-7 center, with RB-35's as rears. My two subs are an RW-10 and a Velodyne CHT-12. I would like to upgrade the subs, more specifically I would like to stick to just one and sell the two I have on ebay. I was looking at two SVS subs, the PB-12-Ultra and the PB-12-Plus/2. Does anyone know which one would be better? My room is medium sized and though it could give the real estate for the Plus/2, I would like to know peoples experiences so I can make a decision. Also, is their version of cherry going to match the cherry of the RB-75? Just curious. Thanks! Oh!! Any other suggestions for subs in the 1,000 to 1500.00 category would be welcome also!
  23. Oh! Welcome to the Forum! Keep the questions commin!
  24. Without a question: the RB-75. The RC-7 matches the RB-75 in tonal characteristics and overall nuance. The RB-75 is a better speaker than the RF-35 in all respects aside from bass. I have this set up currently and can only say: wow. The jump from the -7 series from the -3 series is the biggest and most rewarding upgrade in the Klipsch line, in my opinion (better tweeter, more inert enclosure, better crossover). Go with those RB-75's! Do a google search on Apollo Speaker Stands to match the-75's. The sand-fillable ones are quite good in terms of value. Hope all goes well!
  25. Yeah, I think I will stick with getting a reciever to use as a preamp and buy an amp for the channels. I wonder how DD + and DTS-HD will be processed once the players come out.....if it is true that these formats will be processed within the players, my Denon idea may still stand the test of time...oh well, I just have to see what happens.
