  1. Hi guys, What's this ? K-HORNS in Maine for sale ? Oooh, did they go already ? Ahhhhhh! OK, I am familiar with the K-HORNS, BELLES, LA SCALAS and CORNWALLS. However, other than the original HERESY (which I owned new in 1975) I am not "up to speed" with the "lesser" Klipsch. I do appreciate all your help, opinions/suggestions regarding my Kg 4 post. My GOAL is to (someday) upgrade to something on the order of the K-HORNS. So far, using my "HOBBIEST SEEKS" ad, I have acquired some decent gear, although, I have yet to find any TUBE Amps or HIGHER END Speakers. Are there better Speakers than my Kg 4's, of course! That being said, is there a better Speaker for $50.00 the pair, lol, I doubt it! Anyway, I am convinced that the CHORUS ll's are going to be better performers than my Kg4's, however, it's going to be a matter of money at this point. I'll keep you update. Regards, SixCats!
  2. Hi all, Well, this afternoon (if all goes well) I plan to meet with the seller of the CHORUS ll's. As I mentioned before, unless I can swing a INCREDIBLE deal, I'll have to pass on the CHORUS ll's and be content with my humble little Kg 4's. If I do pass, I'll see about helping the owner sell the ll's via the forum, (however, I seriously doubt that she would go through the trouble of shipping). VET, dude, I can NOT believe all the gear you own! WOW! Regarding the post where I mentioned this other persons "against the grain" opinion. To that I say, "to each their own". Perhaps there is just SOMETHING about the Kg 4's this person prefers over the other Klipsch. I have found this to be true for myself regarding certain model MAGGIES over the years, that is to say, I have found myself prefering some of the "lesser" models over the more expensive bigger models. I believe that sometimes we just prefer certain FLAVOR of sounds (like one enjoys certain types of food on a given day). Ummmm...THAI food sounds good today! lol. At present, I own about twenty pairs of Speakers and I find "something" to like about most of them. I guess I just enjoy trying different Speakers. Over the years, I have enjoyed my THIELS, KEF, B&W's, KLIPSCH, JBL's, PIONEERS, EPI, BOSTON even my little (original RS Minimus 7's). Although I haven't listened to MAGGIES in years (nor ever owned) I plan to buy some smaller Maggies...just because. Anyway, I'll keep you all updated as to my meeting this afternoon. Thanks again for all your help. Regards, SixCats!
  3. Hi guys, Thank you for all your help. Of all the comments responding to my post, I have had only ONE response (I posted this question at another Audio site) by a person who owned BOTH the KG 4's and the CHORUS ll's (at the same time). This person is of the opinion that the KG 4's are infact the BETTER Speaker! I recently reading something (somewhere) that pretty much echos what this person said about the KG 4's. That is to say, the KG 4's (while less efficent) than the ll's, have a BETTER (overall) quality of sound, soundstage, etc. Well, I dunno. Be that as it may, unless I can swing a FANTASTIC deal on the CHORUS ll's, I'll HAVE to be content with my KG 4's for awhile. Regards, SixCats!
  4. Hi guys, Thank you for your help in this matter. So, if $500.00 is what you would consider a great price, anything less would be considered a SUPER GREAT price! Man, this is killing me, I don't know what the seller intend to sell them for until tomorrow. I'll keep you updated. Oooh, so, the ll's are suppose to be MUCH better than my KG 4's ? Would most KLIPSCH fans agree ? Thanks. Regards, SixCats! Regards,
  5. Hi all, I have a HOT lead on a pair of CHORUS ll's (in original boxes) which have been sitting in storage for about six years. I am not sure of the asking price as of yet but, I do believe I might be able to get a GREAT deal. I am seeking opinions as to weather or not the ll's are better overall performers than my MINT KG 4's ? Also, what would be a FAIR purchase price (local pickup) for the ll's. I would appreciate any feed back in regards to the ll's performance vs. my KG 4's and weather or not I should JUMP at a chance to buy the ll's if the price is right. My money situation is TIGHT so, I am torn as to weather this is a good idea of not. Thank you all for any help/suggestions. Regards, SixCats!
  6. Hi Bruce, Thanks for the info on how to post for BIO. Ooooh, I see you too have a pair ofJBL 4311's. I own a pair of JBL 4311B Control Monitors and I LOVE them! was using the JBL's with my ALLIED 333 but, after almost a year of trouble free (and wonderful sounding performance) the 333 seemed to have trouble driving the JBL's without BASS distortion. I now use my KG 4's w/ the 333. I HOPE to later find a more powerful PP Amp for the JBL's. Oooh, I got the JBL's FREE from my Brother in RI who found them at a yard sale along with a NIKKO Receiver and a Cassettee deck for $10.00 ALL! Geeezee, Brother Doug did NOT need the Speakers and gave them to me! Oooh, if he ever get up here to Maine and hears the 4311B's he's going to regret it lol. Well, I did do something nice for Brother Doug for the speakers. Regards, SixCats!
  7. Hi Bob, Well...just a "yardCat" is lovely! Sort or reminds me of my little female "BUCK THE WONDER KITTY!". (yea, I know...female/Buck ?) This is why BUCK is the WONDER KITTY lol. Long story. Ooooh...is there any way to REPLY to posts and VIEW ALL the replies at the same time ? Otherwise, I find it is VERY difficult to respond to posters by name. Thanks. Regards, SixCats!
  8. Hi all, ...(voice over)...ALLIED 333 (Yard Sale) Tube Receiver...five dollars. ...MINT (circa 1985) KLIPSCH KG 4's Speakers acquired through "HOBBIEST SEEKS" ad...fifty dollars. ...Musical satisfaction (total cost $55.00)...PRICELESS! Regards, SixCats!
  9. Hi all, SS (Bill) , nice to see you here as well. I hope to learn a lot of good information and in general have fun. Steve, soooo, you lived in Bangor eh? Gambling is the root of all EVIL lol. I suspose you heard that, that well know BUFFET in Bangor (across from the Park/Waterfront) is no longer a BUFFET but is now filled with SLOT machines! Unreal. Anyway, I live in a small Town (population of just over 3,000). I am located 12 miles South of the Capital of Augusta. Oooh, my wife and I attended the first, second (missed the third) U.S. NATIONAL FOLK/MUSIC FEST (in Bangor) which has been held there the last three years. Great FREE music! It was so popular (broke all the US records for attendence in Bangors' first year) that the City of Bangor now hosts it's OWN Music Fest each Summer. I hope I can make it up there this Summer. Maybe I'll run into THOR (from AK) who lives in Bangor. Frzinnvt, WOW, so your buying NEW Cornwalls lll's. Fantastic! I wish I had that kind of money to purchase Speakers. That being said, pray tell, (if I may be so bold) why are you buying the lll's when you have BELLE's ? Are the lll's suppose to perform BETTER than the BK's ? Either way, I sure hope you enjoy your new toys! Al, now that's a purrty Cat! Yea, I have Seven Kittys! TOO many! Hey hey Mark! Good to see you here my friend! Ooooh, I wrote (per your suggestion) to your buddy in NH. I never heard back. Oooh well. Jacksonbart, lol, we have TWO rather LARGE litter boxes! A major pain in the Ars! Oooh guys, I MIGHT have a lead on some FREE Tube gear! I am keeping my fingers crossed! I will let you know if it pans out. Regards, SixCats!
  10. Hi Max, Thanks for the welcome! Tis quite possible that we have indeed met somewhere before on the net. I have a web friend in Athens (I haven't talked to in some time) who shares my other rather unique (ok strange) hobby of collecting NICHE fragrances. Regards, SixCats!
  11. Hi all, Thanks once again for all your warm welcoming me to the K site! Tom, it just so happens that I am NATIVE of Pawtucket, RI. I moved around quite a bit since I left RI in 1978. Los Angeles, Nashville, and presently living in the sticks (well, sort of) in Maine. Oldtimer...I could not find the BIO page to list my location and other information. Hey hey Patrick! Glad you are here buddy! Yep...me too...AK and a few other sites get most of my Computer time. Al K, one of these days, I am going to figure out how to post pixs. Truth be known, I now have SEVEN Cats! Al and J.4 thanks again for welcoming me to the site! I look forward to learning a LOT about Tube/Horn gear. Regards, SixCats!
  12. Hi guys, Thanks for the warm welcome and the quick response. Rick, lol, when you mentioned a far away place lost in time, I thought for sure you were talking about PAWTUCKET (or CENTRAL FALLS) lol. My God...$3,500.00 the pair! I better hope my "ad" pays off! Regards, SixCats!
  13. Hi all, Well, my Computer/Phone line problems have been solved (after nearly two weeks) and I am happy to be this evenings newest member of the KLIPSCH forum. My FIRST Speakers (purchase waaaaaay back in 1975 when I was 20 years old) was a NEW pair of HERESYS which I mated with a new MARANTZ 2250 Receiver and a TECHNICS SL-1300 Turntable. Man, I LOVED that system. I still can hear my Dad SCREAMING up from the bottom of the stairs into my Bedroom "turn that God D*%$ thing DOWN! lol I'm sure it was more a matter of VOLUME than the quality of sound from the HERESYS which upset my Dad lol. At any rate, I decide to join this Forum as I recently acquired a MINT pair of Klipsch KG 4's from a young lady responding to my HOBBIEST SEEKS ad. The Speakers belonged to her EX and had been being used as END TABLES lol. I find that the less I spend on Speakers, the BETTER they sound! That is to say lol, the KG 4's cost me a total of $50.00 the pair! (which is all the woman was asking). Since I am sloooowly (but surely) moving into the TUBE side of Audio, the KG 4's are a much better match for the Amp I am presently using, an ALLIED 333 (8 watt per channel) Tube Receiver (which I purchased years ago at a YARD SALE for $5.00). Using the 333 and the KG 4's, I am getting decent results. I plan to upgrade to a more SERIOUS Tube amp when funds allow. I also hope to get LUCKY using my "Hobbiest seeks" ad and accquire a LARGER pair of HORNS. Using this "ad", I recently purchased some SAE gear from an Estate. The Widow of the former owner told me she sold her deceased Husbands (one owner) K-HORNS a year earlier for the price of (brace yourself) $400.00 the pair! Ooooh...why not ME ? lol Heck...I have FAITH that it could still happen! In fact, I would even settle for a pair of vintage Cornwalls. Speaking of which...does anyone here have any info on the new Cornwall lll's ? i.e. COST per pair, where made (please don't tell me China), and...if sound any good. etc. OK, I look forward to talking to you all in the future. Thanks for any information you may provide on the NEW Cornwalls. Regards, SixCats!
