  1. well, I wasnt planning on heading down you way anytime soon but I will keep it mind oldtimer lol. I packed and shipped (container) a pair of very nice Tannoy SRM 12X to a guy in Houston a few months back. I packed them very well but I didnt feel comfortable about it until the buyer called to say they arrived just fine. I dont trust carriers either. RC
  2. Thanks for the nod Bill, I agree with your assessment of the Quartets. I am a horn/tube guy and these are the real deal. The previous owner was running them with SS gear and the sounded pretty good but I figured that tubes would straighten out any nasties with the horns. I was right and like I said, they were a pleasant and eye opening surprise. I was hoping for "listenable " but I got much more than I bargained for. If I didn't have have my other speakers I would have no desire to sell them at all. RC
  3. Now in the process of editing the price, I lost the first pics[] With all due respect to the site and Admin. here, this is one tough board to figure out. I anyone is interested in the Quartet's, please email and I will send as many pics as you would like. I think it would be easier that way. RC
  4. There, now its officially changed to $345 I am really hoping for a local sale though. They are not too out of hand to ship but they are not a bookshelf either.[] RC
  5. No I didn't. I kind of gave up for the time being. I did relist them locally for $345 ( I forgot to change it here) but cant seem to generate a whole lot of interest in them. Im not sure why, They really sound great. I picked them up to get me by while my other drivers were being reconed and was shocked at how good they were with my tube gear. I used to own KG4's and KG2's and have had 2-pair of Heresy's. These are much better in many ways than all of the above. Some here say that the are like a Heresy with bass but i would argue that they are much better all the way around than the Heresy's IMO. More than decent bass and the midrange horn surprised me more than anything. Very smooth from the midrange on up with tubes. I guess other than the $'s i would get back from the sale of them, I am somewhat reluctant to see them go, but you cant keep everything I guess. RC
  6. Well, I have tried to post a few more but the system seems to be fighting me. A good man knows when to give up and go home. Im not going home but I am going to give up on the other pics.[*-)][]
  7. Here are a few more. I think I have these priced to sell at $375. Anybody..... Anybody?..... Haru
  8. Im trying to upload a few more pics but im having trouble. I am still not used to this site and posting functions. If you would like some more pics just let me know. Is it just me or is the site just slow to navigate through? Haru
  9. Im going to let go of my Quartets, and am in the process of gathering the funds for the Chorus II or Cornwalls. These are in nice condition with all original drivers. Sound outstanding in my room driven by vintage tube electronics. There is one small chip in the veneer at the riser on one of the speakers but overall very nice. I would be happy to provide specific photos to interested parties. Hoping to find someone somewhat local to avoid shipping. Location: Minneapolis/St. Paul area $345
  10. colterphoto1, The Scott 299B is a all tube integrated amplifier. If I remember correctly it uses (4) 7189's in the output stage and is tube rectified. Very nice sounding amp. I have a Scott 222C awaiting a rebuild but It works fine for now. They all used good iron and $299 BIN it should be a nice deal. They are going up all the time. Too bad they didnt provide some tube side nude shots. I would ask the seller for these and some of the rear apron. Also they really dont get into what is working and what isn't. @20 w/ch output out of the 7189 quad. Similar to the EL84/6BQ5 but uses a higher plate voltage. You should plan on gettin it rebuilt or partially rebuilt. Craig could give you a better idea of the cost. Haru
  11. Brian, Many times some of those comments by ebay sellers, roughly translated means something doesnt work -or- if it doesnt work after you listen to it for a while dont come complaining to me. I think that many of these ebyy sellers are not audio people just thrift and garage sale hounds who are in the ebay business. Actually, the old amps like the Scotts and whatnot have been sitting idle for many years really shouldnt just be plugged in anyway. The need to be brought up slow on a variac to help reform the caps. They can be very much worth it even if you have to get them rebuilt. I did so with a few so far and have been more than pleased. Stillwater eh, Those werent your Chorus II's I missed were they? Haru

Hey, what model of Frazier(s) do you have? ironwoods, I have a pair of Frazier Dixielanders. Had 2-pair but sold one. They came out of a church originally. The guy that got them from the church had them in his garage and didnt know what to do with them. They sounded like nails on a chalkboard driven by the little receiver he had but I could sense their potential. I brought them home and rewired the horns and hooked them up to a stock Sherwood S-5000 (6bq5) and they sounded wonderful. funky design and look but I like them. They are going to be veneered in mahogany when I get some time which maybe a while. Im in the construction remodel business which doesn't leave alot of free time. Im going to post and then see if I can figure out how to upload a pic. Haru
