  1. One more thing.... Any SXRD owners suffer from the "Green Blob"? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=683422
  2. Please do tell us how you like the SXRD. I'm thinking of getting one soon, they've dropped in price so greatly. (Sony must be close to releasing something new?) I DID have the Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK 50" Plasma , and could not have been happier. No blocking or ghosting, great blacks , no viewing angle issues. an incredable picture. It's the 8th generation screen..not the commercial 5th that you find at BB and other stores. It's limited to 720p and you do need to worry about burn-in if you are a gamer, but it's truly just a display..you're not paying extra for speakers, tuners and such..just for the incredible picture. I disagree with Dr Who, who stated their life is limited. They (like nearly all recent generation plasmas) are rated at 60,000 viewing hours..which, last time I remember figuring out, amounted to 7-8 hours a day for twenty years. We all would have bought two,or more, new great tv's by then.....reguardless if they've actually worn out, or not. I've come to think of the rear projection sets as being the fragile ones. If you buy one you need to accept paying $200 for a new lamp every few years. (probably end up costing you more than 1k over yoru 20 years) Anyway, I hope you are happy with it... i'm very interested, myself. Gavin
  3. Wow, you guys are nuts..... .. but still, I'd love (or kill) to have either of your systems. I've heard both the Cornwalls and the Forte1's (own a pair) but never the Forte 2. How do they compare to the original Forte? Thanks...
  4. Yep! Thanks for the heads-up! I'm not sure if it's worth what I paid for it ($450 with shipping) , but a bit of "peace of mind" came in the deal. (not to mention a lot of free time now, not combing the net for one to pop up). I'll have to look up this "K-stack" business... if it makes a huge difference. Can someone with 10 thumbs on two left hands add one themselves? Now, what SMALL speaker can be used for rears? I'd like to mount something on stands, I think. Anyone tell me how big a difference between a Denon 3805 vs Pioneer 1015? (is that the one that's so good for the buck?) I see the 3805 for $699, and I loved it. I hope to add it to a Panny 42" or 50" plasma. A reasonable dvd? How is the Oppo? Thanks again.. Gavin
  5. Still looking for an Academy or C7.... ..however, someone in an AV store/installation business was trying to sell me on a RC-62/64. He had me going, until he mentioned...." .... it should sound great, however it won't have the bass of your Forte's. " I'm not an extreme audiophile, but I don't want to blow a bunch of money on something that wont work.... just how bad would this combo be?
  6. Merkin, You willing to part with your Academy? Hmmnnn......? *wrings hands greedily ala' Mr. Burns*
  7. Thanks guys... I've had no luck finding the Academy or KLF-C7 anywhere, but i'll keep looking. I've found some reasonable (I think) prices on Forte's, but I really won't be able to find room for it? (unless I can safely balance a 50" plasma on a stand on it.) Would the Heresy work out well? My Forte's have been in a box for a long time..will they pack enough base, or will I need to buy a sub? Has anyone tried the "virtual" center channell? I've heard that it's a possiblilty, but know nothing of it. Thanks...
  8. Hi there.... I was hoping someone here could point me in the direction of a center channell that would best compliment my Forte's. I've heard mention of the "Academies", but they seem too difficult to come by. Any of the newer models work well? Cheaper is better, but i'll pay more for a better "fit". Spac eis a real issue, i'm looking for a small speaker, not finding another freestanding speaker, just something I can place in the cabinet. Is the KV-3 a decent match? I'll be penned up in an apartment for some time, so I wont be able to enjoy the big base. Will the Forte's passive woofers be servicable, or should I really go buy a small woofer? Advice for rear speakers is also appreciated.... Thanks!
