That is your problem. You're using a 50 foot cable and it's acting as an antenna. It's most likely picking up EMI from an AC source.

Well, mine were working up until about a month ago. I purchased them in 2000 I believe. Now I have to find out why the 640014 board is not working. I get voltage into the board, but not out.The LED is working on the pod, but no sound.
