  3. Hi, Forum, woould it be possible to listen to a pair of Cornscala in Jacksonville, Florida area before I order the parts to build one? Joseph
  4. Hi, Forum, I received them and installed them. Although the price doubled while they reached my oversea home (VAT, custom fee, shipping charges), they worth every Penny. I can speak only enthusiastically about these little transformers that replaced my L-pads for JBL 2404H tweeters. Female voices begann breathing again, highs became soft anf juicy and very enjoyable, and what really surprised me, went away the remaining honkiness of 511 horns. How and why, don't ask me. Highs also became organic extension of mid range, that was not so with L-pads. The pads in comparison were sounding scretchy, harsh, draw attension to themselves, did not mingle with mid range. A very musical dimension opened up. Joseph
  5. Hi, Folks, how to disassemble such drivers for diaphragm change?
  6. Hi, George, you are on the right track in this. I made this modification a year ago to my satisfaction. I sold the original horns on eBay. In order to fit the 511B in the original enclosure, you need to elevate it exactly 3/4" because the 511B is that much taller. I did this work in my living room, so you could do that too. Horn needs an L-shaped support or bracket on the rear so it won't stretch the screws on the front. The way I did was that the horn's ribs and baffles are not covered by the black grill clothes, rather they stick out in the front, this way leaves more room on the rear for JBL LE85-s, and they need that. This way the whole speaker system looks meneacing but I wanted them to look impressive, and seeing the 511B-s face to face is really cool. What more could you do that I did not, is to place the tweeters next to the 511B, meaning the 511B must be off-centered. I like my horns sitting in the middle, but it is something you can consider. Now the JBL 2404H-s must sit on top.Let us know how you proceed. Joseph
  7. No, I have old Klipsch K-77 drivers in them, same as T-35 , regardless of Mk II designation on the boxes.Tthis mod works perfect for what Heresys worth. Capacitor change may improve upon this, I don't know, but there seems to be no reason for it. I don't even know the K-66es but I had douzens of T-35s, I know them well with their roll-off after 7 kHz. I made pictures just don't know yet how to post them.
  8. Being highly dissatisfied with the harsh, brittle, peaking and tiring high frequency sound of Heresy-II, (due to EV T-35 or Klipsch's own tweeters) I did some modification to these speakers in order to be good sounding in rear and front channel roles. (After redesigning Klipschorns it was not really that big a job). To make this short, tweeters had to go, but how? The little horns had to be saved for several reasons so here is the solution: I separated the magnet assembly from the tiny horns and drilled out the phase plugs from the horns with a hole saw and descarded them. Onto the horns'back I epoxy-glued 1-1/8 x18 standard threaded horn throats that were part of some plastic horns. After drying I reinstalled the little horns inside the cabinet and screwd on them a pair of JBL 2412h tweeters. The space is very small there but these drivers fit just perfectly . I am through the first few days of listening and I can not detect now any of those high frequency aberrations that were so annoying and unenjoyable before and spoiled the Heresies. Now the only thing to take care of is, that these tweeters are a bit louder than needed, so they need to be attenuated. But the sound is very enjoyable, and one might just leave them as they are, hot. Believe me, this mod works.
