  1. Hello everyone. I am the recent new owner of a pair of Heresy 1's, vintage 1980. I decided to start researching amps. Seems like most people here tend to favor tube amps for the Heritage speakers. I know the difference between tubes and ss amps, but that's about it. Can anyone teach me a lesson? Seems like McIntosh is one of the favorites, I have looked up some vintage ones on ebay and wow! Over $1,000? Is there a cheaper "tube way"? Thanks for the help!
  2. So I moved my new Heresys into the corners. They do sound better I believe. Still missing some bass on the heavier stuff. Will definitely need a sub in the future. I noticed that the music seemed to come much more from the left speaker. Checked my balance and everything. I think the right channel is not putting out as strong as the left. Even when I turn the balance more to the right I can still hear a pronounced left side. Switched the speakers around and all that as well. Doesn't seem to be them. Perhaps my receiver has seen better days. So I started thinking about purchasing a new receiver... in the future that is, got to save more money after the Heresys. I need something with the quality to go along with the Klipsch of course. Right now I have no HT system but would at some point, so I need something that will handle that as well. Mostly interested in the music though. Decent brands I am familiar with are Denon and Yamaha. I'm sure the folks here have tons of opinions on the subject. Would love to hear them. Thanks!
  3. Growing up, my best friend's dad had a pair of cornwalls. Very nice indeed. Although my 1,020 SF house is not quite big enough for them. I plan on not buying anything else for a while now but will do some research. Any recommendations on subs? Something that would work well for stereo as well as any future HT application. Are the subs y'all are using powered? Right now I have a simple Kenwood stereo tuner I bought 15 years ago. I'm sure that will need upgrading as well, same as the sub, great for music and good for future HT. Thanks!
  4. Well the 26 year old Heresy's are hooked up and playing very nicely. I can hear sounds and instruments I did not even know existed on some songs. Thanks again everyone. These are in tip-top shape. Just a few dings in the wood, other than that, great. Maybe it's just me, or my speaker placement, or my amp, but it seems as if there may be a lack of low range bass. I feel that 2 12's should put out a bit more. Is that the nature of the Heresy or am I being too critical. Not that it matters, I will love them dearly. I just like to know everything about my new toys.
  5. I do have a skill saw but it will be staying in the garage. Now if my dog just doesn't eat the woofer out like she did my JBL's.
  6. Yes these are Heresy HWO's. What's the HWO designate? picking them up after work today
  7. Going to pick these up today or tomorrow. Only have to drive 30 minutes or so, depends on traffic.
  8. Well I bid and won. $400. I hope the fact that no one else bid is not a bad sign. I'll pick them up and let y'all know how they sound. Thanks for everyone's help. I'm sure I will have many more questions to come concerning any update/grades for the speaker and possible amp questions.
  9. If the folks here believe this Heresy 1 is worth $400 I'll probably go for it. I usually lose at ebay though. So I won't get my hopes up. :-) Thanks All.
  10. Seemed kind of high for me for a 20 something year old speaker. Maybe if it was an H2. Is and H1 worth $400? What do y'all think? And what's the reall difference between the H1 and H2 as well?
  11. Thanks for the info. I think I might want to stick with my search for the H2's. Now if only people would sell the things!
  12. Another question here. What's with the Klipsch KG4s? Someones selling a pair in my area for $225. Would these compare at all to the H2's? Thanks!
  13. Yes they were H2's. They went for $367. That plus shipping was too much for me. Might take y'alls advice and stick to some near by. There are some on ebay near but they are H1's. http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-HERESY-HWO-SPEAKERS-MATCHED-SET_W0QQitemZ140012034774QQihZ004QQcategoryZ61378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem And why does this guy want so much? Buy now for $575? Staring bid $400? Is this finish highly desirable or something?
  14. He said about 50 bucks to ship for the pair.
  15. Still looking at these on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&item=320010224577&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I asked for a pic with the grill off, see attached. I noticed the right speaker has dark mark on the woofer. He said it was there when he got them new and he supposes it's glue or something from the manufacturing process. Does this sound true to the folks here? Thanks!
  16. New for $800? I just called 3 dealers yesterday and the H2's were listed for $625 each. One dealer had them for $525 each. $400 a pair seemed like a pretty good deal.
  17. Black's what I've been looking for. This guy has the oringial boxes so hopefully shipping will be easier. A pair from 1986 just sold for $355. I think $400 would be a good price for the black ones. My brother got some brand new in 96 for $800. So half price sounds like a good deal. Thanks Y'all!
  18. Got my eyes on these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&item=320010224577&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Any comments? How much are these typically worth, purchased in 93? Thanks!
  19. Thanks for everyones help. I realized I spelled Heresy wrong, sorry. So is there an age limit on these speakers? I see people buying vintage ones. If they are treated well do the parts themselves last 10, 20, 30 years? Thanks!
  20. I've been looking around for some used Heresys - ebay, craigslist, etc. - and would like to get any advice on what to look for when buying a pre-owned Klipsch. Besides the obvious of course. I appreciate any help. Thanks!
