  1. Can I purchase new Heritage speakers directly from Klipsch? If so, I can't find pricing. (I already have a set of CWs (1980) and might consider a set of Heresys for HT surrounds).
  2. Hey guys- I'm in planning mode for my HT. I have a set of CWs that I intend to use for the fronts. I've recieved a lot of good advice about keeping the entire system Heritage. But I wonher if I have enough room. Does anyone recommend using RS 62 for surround (on the walls), RC 64 center and an RT 12d for the sub (basically an RF 83 system with CWs in front. Does this make any sense to you guys?? Or go Heresys and ???
  3. If you had say- $5-7K to spend on HT - would you spend it on Heritage speakers, and use the balance on some electronics or would you spend it all on one of the new Reference systems?
  4. Chris- WAF/GFAF? My dilema for the center.... a fireplace. I can't put anything on the floor. So the monitor is going up above the mantle and I need a center speaker that can fit on the wall under/over the monitor. Regarding the Khorns- are they noticable better than CWs, even to a moderatly skilled ear (like mine?) I've always thought they looked cool - but have never hear them. That brings up another issue for Heritage speakers - where can you find them to listen to? I'm in the Seattle, WA area if anyone has some ideas. What a great forum!! KOZ
  5. Arky, I bought my CWs new in 1980. For some reason over I held on to them, even when I had young kids and didn't listen to them much. Now, I want to get back into audio and HT - sometning I've always wanted to do. I'm curious- do the Heritage speakers sound better than the new Reference series? I wonder if it it the larger woofers and cabinets that make the difference. Anyway, the pics I've seen of rooms using Heritage certainly have a "manly" look to them. They seem to turn any room into a batchelor pad look (not necessarily what I'm looking for since I'm an old fart)- but if the sound is that much better it might be worth it. What have you heard-what is the draw to the Heritage line? KOZ
  6. Okay, the girl friend who wanted Blose is out, and the CWs stayed. Now back to business....I'd like to slowly build a Heritage HT in a 16X 21 room using the CWs as the front speakers. I've heard Heresys would make great surrounds (if I had the space would a 2nd set of CWs be better?). . What do you guys suggest for a sub and center channel (Heritage). What are some well matched amps/recievers for this type of system. Is there a way to do this w/o winning the lottery or becoming a drug lord? KOZ
  7. Michael, I'm doing okay, thanks for asking. It was a 2 year relationship that probably should have been only 1. How does does today's Reference line compare with the sound reproduction & quality construction of the Heritage CWs? KOZ
  8. Well, you guys were right.........I've said good bye to the girlfriend....Now on to the serious business of figuring out my HT. I'd like to stay with the Cornwalls for the front L&R and add some quality center and surround speakers. How do the new reference series Klipsch compare with the CWs? Are they compatible? Just for the record- I'm an old fart (52) who is just getting back into audio. After raising the kids...it's my time. But, I'm pretty rusty on today's technology (but hey, the journey is at least half the fun, right?). So here's my question: I know you are all believers in Klipsch - but are today's Klipsch still the "quality" speakers they once were? Seriously. Or are they just a good value? Something I saw this weekend is bugging me: I was at Best Buy and saw several Klipsch speakers for HT systems. I believe they were the "Synergy" series. Anyway- the construction did not look like high quality stuff- and it bothered me enough that I walked out w/o even listening to them. They weren't even grouped with the higher-end products. I was shocked to see Klipsch at Best Buy. When I bought my CWs in 1980- I had to travel out of town to a small, high-end, HiFi store to get them. Have they become a product for the masses???? Don't get me wrong-- I want to believe.....I just need to understand. KOZ
  9. Chris, Nice pics!! I like the way you built the Cornwalls into the corners. My room is a little smaller (12 x 20) and also opening into the kitchen. I have dilema, in that I need to put the monitor above a fireplace (that is the only available wall). So, all I can use for the center speaker is a wall mounted unit. Do you think the Cornwalls overpower a small center speaker? Again- great job on the HT. KOZ
  10. Chris- Can you tell me more about your system? How big is the room? Thanks!
  11. CB- That is a great article - I was just at a HiFi design studio in Seattle this weekend, checking out monitors, electronics, even speakers (but they no longer carry Klipsch). But they do carry "some" Bose (probably for impulse buys). Anyway, after spending 2 hours talking with a salesman, and looking at some very nice stuff...I asked "so what's the deal w/ Bose. How do their systems compare with premium components?" He stated pretty much what was in your posted article. He said he could put together asystem for the same amount of money, but that would have superior performance. He said the Bose systems are for people who "need simplicity" and/or do not want to see the speakers. Thanks for the great links!!
  12. Timmikid- I've never had the backs off the CWs - and I'm not an electronics hobyist (although I am an electrical engineer). How difficult is it to upgrade the networks...and is it practical for me to attempt? How much $$. Thanks for the great advice.
  13. Jay- You don't know how accurate your statement is......she has closets of shoes, most are so impractical she cannot were them w/o limping by the end of the day. The CWs are staying.
  14. This forum is great - where the h?@#! have I been for the past several years. Very cool.
  15. Wow - Do you mean upgrade the electronics in my Cornwalls to turn them into Khorns? If that is what you mean, is there a significant audio enhancement?
  16. That is really great to hear. I've always wondered how they compare to newer technology and "high end" speakers. Another question I've had is do the speakers deteriorate over time (not missuse). Does the woofer get brittle or anything like that. Kind of like bad eye sight- I wonder if the Cornwalls might go bad slowly over time and I don't notice it.
  17. Bose - That is exactly what she is suggesting -I replace them with some "Lifestyle System". I truly am not an audiophile- but I find it very hard to believe that real sound can come from those little cubes. If I go with a home theater system, can't I use the Cornwalls- and still have great speakers for music?
  18. New relationship, remodeling the house........but deep down I'm not sure I want to get rid of them. They've been with me a long time....
  19. Pristine pair of 1980 Cornwalls looking for a good home. I'm the original owner (s/n 25U 800 & 801). I finished the birch cabinets in a walnut and oil finish. No marks at all. All original components and of course they sound great. I am new to the Klipsch forum, and I don't know exactly how this works, but I know Craig's List is not the place to list these speakers. I paid $1200 in '80 and Klipsch says I could get that for them today? I'll consider $1000 OBO. I'm located in the Seattle, WA and would prefer to have you pick them up - that way you could listen to them before taking them home.
