  1. Hi there and Welcome to the forum. The 82' and RF7 are not in the same leauge, the RF7 was replaced by the RF83 in the new lineup. The 82 is a great speaker but will never fill the shoes of an RF7 with two 10" drivers. The RF7 is also known to be quite shrill on the high notes, the new series is more laid back. There is a mod thats available for the X-over that I believe Dean G does, some other more Knowledgeable RF7 owners will have alot more to add.
  2. You just need a nice set of $500 monster cables, yea that will do []it
  3. Hi Michael, do you have info on this? Getech said they are backordered and I am waiting for a replacement. Regards, Chris
  4. Hiya Detroit, I meant till the 64 is back in stock if it is backordered at all.
  5. We shall see, the dealer never mentioned that but who knows...if not I'll get my money backm the 62 works great anyway.
  6. Hey james, thanks. It didn't happen on my end, my 110lb wife and I lugged it down to the HT. Can't wait to get it the new one and try it out, will let you know then. Chris.
  7. Yup, get the best speakers you can afford, by far most crucial part of the system.
  8. I had the same thoughts regarding the weight/size issue, I'm pretty sure it got banged up during shipping, its too big and awkward for its own good, mind you, the 83's are way bigger and they were fine, go figure. Anyway, when I packed it up to take it back I noticed something loose inside, you could hear something moving around when you moved the speaker, obviously part of the driver assembly...oh well, the 62 sounds damn fine in the meantime.
  9. Update, as I had hoped the store is ordering me a new 64 with no hassles...phew! Also gave me my 62 back till it comes in..least the HT is still up and running.
  10. So I picked up my new RC64 this afternoon to match my prized 83's. When I got it out of the box I noticed the rubber flange around the far right driver had a small crease/imperfection at the 10 o'clock position and thought thats weird, that doesn't look right. Anyway, I figured Klipsch would never let this BIG dollar speaker out of the factory if it was a problem and hooked it up and did an auto setup on the Receiver. After about 8 songs played in multi channel surround, I had Ray Charles on and heard the horrible sound of a blown driver, the farting sound as the driver rattled around in its enclosure. Anyway, anyone who has read my posts on here know that I am a huge Klipsch fan and really feel let down by this, I called the store and they said "we will order a new driver", yea right, I better get a new speaker or I will freak. Will let you know tomorrow, Lets see what the Klipsch employees have to say please.
  11. Hey detroit, you won't be dissapointed and isn't the price a steal ? its truly a bargain. I wouldn't have got an amp for another 6 months but this I could afford, now I'm going out to get my RC64 this aft!....lol, has to be done and they are giving me a great trade on the 62 and besides the cherry 64 will now match my 83's[] Btw, if you ever want to come up to Waterloo, 3 hours maybe? give me a shout and we can play with the HT. Chris.
  12. Fish, yes I totally agree with that given my limited experience with the MPS1 so far. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the super heavyduty build quality and precision with how it was designed and made. This is one serious bad a** amp is all I can say. Watching (listening) to LOTR last nite was just simply out of this world, my old Yammy was really good or so i thought but the difference is really quite alarming. As you all know, there are alot of soft passages and then huge peaks in power, this is where I noticed the biggest difference, it is obvious that the Yammy just plain ran out of steam and certain amonts of the soundtack were being lost in the fray. Again, bass respnse being massive and tight, one scene where the Orgs are advancing on the castle and those trolls are beating the drums was one of those holy s**t moments, also when the Orgs were winding up their catapaults and releasing their thunder was really awesome. Anyway, so far all I can say is WOW, music is fantastic and the movie experience just went through the roof....lol, literally.
  13. Hey guys, played the Incredibles and sound all around was just awesome, so much power and punch and of course never any sign of distress and I had her really ripping. I have Open Range(just bought it) and will check that out. Now going to watch LOTR "Return of the King"....should be fun...
  14. haven't had a chance to see what movies are like yet, was concentrating on music. Will do some movie testing today.....such as Star Wars pod racer scene, superbit Black hawk Down (DTS), Top Gun (DTS6.1) any others you guys can think of..have most of the "big" sound oriented films...oh...U571 (DTS)..should be good too News at 11..[8-|]
  15. Hey James, Detroit...lol, sorry had to spend some time with it last nite(about 5 hours) to get an early assesment. First thing I noticed is an overall much fuller sound, drums and bass lines are much more pronounced and well defined. The yammy used to have a problem where the LF channel would not come up evenly with the others, especially noticeable in 2 channel listening and concerts etc, it was always too low( i'm pretty sure), now the imaging in 2 channel is much much better, soundstage was good before now seems to be wider. Overall response is amazing, everything appears much smoother especially when you really give it some serious cranking. Also noticed with some tracks, the whole soundstage seems to rise up way above the speakers( really weird actually the first time it happened). Put on Norah Jones, "feels like home", and I have to say that this disc always sounded great, but OMG, you want to hear the dynamics of this is a thing of beauty, her voice is like you are in the studio and when the piano comes in , its hard for me to explain I'm obviously not a reviewer, but it just seems to fill the room and your whole body with each chord being struck by the hammer. My wife says it puts a smile on her face(she loves Nora) and its really rich, lol. As of note, the usual crap sounding Cd's still sound like crap, if in fact its possible ,even crappier...[] Any suggestions on some really excellent sounding discs(audiophile quality like Nora) would be much appreciated, I'm getting really tired of buying discs that sound terrible. . Ok, example, wife has Michael Buble upstairs so I thought, hey this guy is kinda swing/jazz, David Foster producing, playing piano should be pretty good right? Sounds good to start untill I realise there is about 0 and I mean 0 dynamic range on this disc, its so hot and commpresed so bad its really hard to listen to, its ok when he sings with just one other instrument but when the band kicks in or he really belts out a tune its just horrible. What a disgrace, they should be ashamed of themselves. Rant over, LOL.
  16. Agreed, a great combo to get you going, you don't need all your speaks at once, I built my first system bit by bit and I am still doing it....LOL, time for that RC64 upgrade I do believe.
  17. I would budget most of your cash on speakers and buy a cheap receiver and upgrade it later when funds allow, for that matter, get a decent used one for really cheap.
  18. Oldtimer, thanks alot, yes each channel has its own very small fan and come on when required and adjusts speed accordingly, heat sinks are pretty big too, guess it is just extra cooling, had it running for around 5 hours last nite and never got more than room temp on top, couldn.t really detect any heat at all, in fact Emotiva recommends stacking the pre/pro on top for best looks..lol. Its a big heavy brute... Weight - 115 lbs Dims: (HxWxD) 7 11/16 x 18 7/16 x 18 7/8"
  19. Killer, thats the best part, its a friggin steal of a bargain, I honestly don't think you can match this quality at twice the price, I saved $1100 CAD over the Anthem MCA 50 and this thing is more powerfull, much heavier, mono block, can order 2-7 channels and add later if you wish, if a channel goes down you just send one chanel back, customer service is second to none and looks amazing but the sound....so far so fantastic...need more time to fully evaluate but check out this review. Prices are as follows, Power chassis $300 us, power modules are $200 us each 2-7 channels available, free shipping in the us, credit to Canada. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_13_1/emotiva-dmc1-ssp-mps1-amp-3-2006-part-2.html
  20. Speaker, yes sir, 350 va with 105 caps...
  21. Thanks again Mike, yea they are blue for on and receiving signal, green is ready to go and in standby for example 2 blue in 2 channel mode and 3 greens which are in standby. Red is for a fault on that channel.
  22. thanks Mike, some specs Audiophile quality, modular power amplifier True card cage design can accommodate up to seven 200 watt (@8 ohms) mono block power modules - power modules glide in and out on Nylon rails 200 watt power modules feature independent 350VA low noise toroid power transformers w/ high speed rectifiers and low ESR 105°C power supply capacitors
