  1. I am glad to see this post. I have a Yamaha 1600 with YPAO. I used the YPAO to set up and then went to the on-screen display and used the manual set up to tweek it in. However, as stated above, the manual is very confusing and I am not sure what I am doing. I have it sounding good but I am sure there is more I can do. I am not familiar with the 2500 but I assume it has on screen display.

Sorry I am not much help, but don't feel alone. I look forward to any feed back on this issue. I have had my Yamaha for a year and feel I don't understand much of it. I jumped from two channel stereo from the early 80's to this amp with 7.1 and feel lost. Love the sound but I know I am not using it to its full potential.

  2. acousticsounddesign.com is a klipsch authorized dealer. I called klipsch to verify this and they said they are authorized. I bought four RS-35 surround speakers from them. They have some very good online deals and usually include free shipping. I actually got a better deal by calling. He said on the phone order he could give me a better discount. I bought all four RS-35's for a total price of $700. This was about six months ago.

  3. I too looked at the synergy speakers but after hearing the reference line, I decided to go reference. It took me 10 months to build the system because of the cost, including a yamaha rx-v1600. Now that I have the full 7.1 surround reference system, I am sooooooo glad I was patient. They sound incredible.

  4. Larry,

Thanks so much for you input. You answered my question exactly. The 7.2 wall plate that I ordered is rca on the outside and the back is female coax. When I went to order the wall plate for the sub to plug into I could only find rca on front and back. Thats where I got confused. Thanks for the link and the info.

I love this forum. Thanks so much for your help.

  5. I am putting a 7.2 wall plate in the wall to help with the wire mess that I have behind my home theater cabinet. When I look at wall plates I find different terms for the connection for the sub woofer. Some say RCA connectors, some say F connector and some don't say anything. I am using an rw-12 sub and I have the LFE cable running from my receiver to the sub. What type of connector on the wall plate do I need? It appears that the back of the wall plate has a threaded post as if for coaxial (cablevision) type connector. Here is a link to the plate I am looking at. http://www.the-hdb-store.com/servlet/the-155/HTWP72--7.2-HOME/Detail So I want to go in to the wall plate, run something in the wall and then out to another wall plate. What do I use in the wall? And are RCA jacks the way to go with the LFE cable?

I also want to hook up a second rw-12 but my receiver only offers one connection. Is there a way to add a second sub woofer?

  7. I too have the pro media 5.1 ultra speakers on my computer. In the last month I have been experiencing the same static (crackles) in all of the speakers. I too have checked all of the connections and the sound card but the problem persists. I will be following this post.

  8. I own a Yamaha RX-V1600. It will make your speakers sing. I love the receiver. As for the satellite, I don't know either but I will tell you that you will want the sound going through your receiver. I have a Samsung 42 inch Plasma screen HDTV and by running it through the receiver, the sound is so much clearer that I don't have any desire to listen to the TV with its own speakers.

  9. I have a direct drive technics turntable with a stanton cartridge. It still works great and I purchased it new in 1976. I believe they are still around for a fair price. I dont know if stanton even is making cartridge's anymore or not.

As far as the sound of vinyl compared to cd...well that is a tough one. What I have found is the vinyl albums that I grew up listening to do sound better than the cd. I believe this is because thats the way I remember the music sounding. There is much more distortion and noise from a vinyl album from the simple fact there is contact from the needle to the vinyl. I remember the noise and distortion being part of the music. Over time the albums get crackly from the nights when your buddy decides to change the album for you and forgets to clean it. The convenience of a cd is certainly something to think about (as mentioned above). I guess it is a personal preferance thing.

  10. Definetely wire for 7.1. Movies are moving in that direction. I don't know if your amp supports 7.1 stereo, but if it does, it is quiet a room filler. My Yamaha rx-v1600 supports 7.1 stereo and my old albums and cd's sound incredible.

  11. Since the speakers weigh under 30 lbs, the 30 lbs omni mount will work great. I spoke with omnimount and klipsch about mounting the rs-35, which weighs 10 lbs. They told me that the 10 rated omnimount will hold them easily. That is what I order and they work great. So if the speakers are under 30 lbs, the 30 lbs rating will be plenty.

  12. Right now you can buy a NEW (with full warranty) Klipsch rc-35 from acousticsounddesign.com. I bought my rs-35 from them but I first contacted Klipsch and asked if there was any internet sites that are klipsch certified and they gave me acousticsounddesign.com. I received them quickly (of course that depends on where you live...they are located in Las Vegas) and the shipping was free. My price was $350 per pair for the rs-35. Right now the rc-35 is $299.00 with free shipping.

  13. I just purchased a Squeezebox. It is unbelievable. The quality is excellent. Squeezebox uses a 24 bit DAC. I looked into the Roku but found a complaint by many that there is a noise problem. The squeezebox does not have this problem. I first tried the dlink media lounge and was very dissappointed in the fact that it alphebetized all of the music, even on a single album. The squeezebox plays the music just as they are on your computer. You can make playlists and it will play them just as you want. I am extremely impressed with this device. No more changing cd's. It is a great compliment to my home theater system. I highly recommend the Squeezebox.

  14. My music is also numbered just as you stated but the dlink ignores this. I spoke with dlink and they say it will always put them in alphebetical order. I even made seperate playlists and it still did not work. A simple software change would fix this but dlink seemed uninterested. I have since ordered the Slimdevices Squeeze box. It should arrive tomorrow. Good reviews and it plays music in what ever order you have them on your computer.

    Thanks.

  15. I bought a 500 foot spool of 12 guage because I had to run it around 120' for four of my speakers. I found a roll on the internet for $135 for 500 feet. Still have about 150 left for whatever. @ $0.27 per foot, it was a good buy. I tried to find where I bought it but I can't seem to remember. If you look hard on the net, it is there.

    Good luck
