  1. Thanks, I'm happy with the way they turned out. I need to thank Jeff for steering me towards that thread on the placement of the bass bin bracing, it did tighten up the bass. I guess I should have dusted before I took the pic. Fell free to contact me if you have questions.

  2. I just re-skinned my modded LaScala's with theforums cane fabric from Wendell, got the 2 yd. min. I think the cane fabric cost me around $60 to get to my door. I made 1/4 baltic birch inserts for the bass bins and the top hat and use spray adhesive. If you want more info PM or email me.

I'd post a pic, but I can't figure out how to do it. Not very tech savvy.

  3. I have Forte II's and upgraded to the titanium diaphragms and realized a noticable difference, more clarity and detail in the upper end. Money very well spent. According to Bob the ti dia's will better respond to the crossover upgrade.

  4. I have to agree with wuzzer, after talking with Bob Crites I went with the Ti diaphrams and was surprized at the improvement, it was more than just noticable. The clarity and presence of the highs far exceeded the $60 spent, made me wonder why I didn't do it sooner. Bob has a very well illustrated, (pictures) set of instructions at his site. You will not regret this mod.

My Forte II's were my first set of klipsch, I have had Forte I's, Heresy's, Cornwalls and LaScale's, for the money, size and footprint, the Forte II's are the best sound for the money. I keep the II's and the LS both tough to bet for the $'s invested.

  5. I couldn’t agree more. I sent my Merlin to Craig NOSValve last summer to have him do his magic, after choking and a larger tranny it came back within a breath of the BBX sound. Once I found a quite, sweet sounding 6DJ8, the little Merlin now sings with a detail I never heard from it before.

Thanks to Daddy Dee, I'm pretty sure it was you who pointed me to the Merlin 3 or 4 years ago,

    and Thebes for sharing.

  6. Have a friend that had 300B's with LaScala's, and the same room size, with the LS on the long wall 12 ft. apart.Sounded wonderful.

Helped him move in Belles and heard them the same day. All I can say is, it was outstanding, the Belles bottom end was substanctially better. Some say that can't be, all I know in his setup it was.

If they are a fair price I don't see how you can go wrong.

  7. James, there is a black plastic sleeve that fits inside the counterweight, it is split and has a small nipple that seats inside the hole the thumbscrew rides in. When you tighten the thumbscrew it pushes againt the sleeve nipple, which in turn locks the counterweight in place.

If you can look inside the center of the counterweight and can see the hole where the thumb screw rides, then you are missing the plastic sleeve.

    Hope this helps.
