  3. If anyone is in the market for a Proton D1200 Amplifier, I have one that is extra to my needs. I just had it gone through by a local audio shop and it sounds very nice. It looks pretty good, not perfect but still decent. The face is presentable and the case is clean, the bottom is a bit rought, but not awful. I am looking to get $400 or so out of it, but open to offers or trades. I would prefer the amplifier be picked up, but I could ship if needed. Thanks Brian
  4. Thanks for all the input gentlemen. I do apreciate it. I brought home a harmon kardon hk880Vxi to try out tonight. Other than having a weak channel it sound very nice on these KG4s as well. I think I might just fix it and keep it. It sounds pretty good to me. I did manage to locate a tube amp too.. [] I can pick it up next week and try it out for a while. It is an old Fisher that is an backup / extra of a friend of a friend. Not sure if it is a good one or not, but it may give me an idea of what one sounds like. Brian
  5. Yep... Winter is coming tomorrow. It has been nice though having the warm temps up till now. It would be fun to get some people in the area together. I am totally new to the Klipsch line and higher end audio gear so it would be a real learning adventure for me. Glad to see there at least two of us in the Gopher State on here. (I think) my old kenwood amp is to old to have mosfets, but I don't know that to be for sure. Like you said, maybe some will chime up that knows for sure. I have been watching some ebay auctions for a tube amp under the $200 mark. I was thinking if I managed to get one that cheap, I could resell it if it was not what I wanted. Brian
  6. I have an Adcom (GFA 5300) that was used to replace my aging Kenwood KM-208 Solid State Amplifier. I have been using it for the last few days and running through my collection of music testing it out on my KG4s. I tried hard to like this amp, I mean it is a nice looking amp, but something about it just did not make my ears as happy as my eyes were. Tonight I found out what it is. I hooked up my old Kenwood again to one side and the adcom to the other... that was it... Wow, what a differance between this one and my old one. My old KW sounds so much better to my ears than the Adcom. Now, I don't mean to be an Adcom basher as it does do a good job and it may be perfect for different ears and musical taste but just not for me. The Question: I read somewhere that a MOSFET was as close to a tube sound you could get with a SS. Is that true or just a handfull of Bull****? I hate to think that is true since my goal is to get ahold of a decent tube amp someday once I can aford one. I have never really heard a good quality tube amp before so I am not even sure a tube is right for me.[*-)] Anyone in the Rochester, MN area that has a tube amp that could demo one for me? I would really like to hear one before I drop a bunch of cash on one and find out I don't like it. Does anyone want an Adcom GFA5300 for Trade? [] Thanks Brian
  7. But.............. What if you are flying at the speed of sound (slightly faster than the speed of smell) would you still be able to hear the subs in the trunk? Brian
  8. Thanks for the tip... Has anyone listened to any of Hayseed Dixie's work? Some of it is just goofy, but then again these guys can really play when they put their minds to it. Brian
  9. Just my $.02 I have 2 rods a few plates and enough screws and pins in my lower back and left leg, that if I removed them I could start a hardware store. They only thing that really works for me is switching off from the hard floor flat on my back to sleeping on a couch that I beefed up with 5/8 plywood. 90% of the time I sleep on the modded couch, which works well as the dog has gotten very used to my half of the bed and my wife says he smells better than I do too... [:$] I have tried many many different things to sleep on and I have yet to find one sure fire 100% cure. I think just having a number of things that work if another doesn't is your best bet. Switch off from one to another until you find something comfortable. Pain killers can cause problem sleeping too. I take an all natural called Move Easy. You can get it at WalMart. It takes about 7 days before it starts helping, but if you stick with it, it seems to work. Good luck, I hope you find a few things that can help for her. Sleep is a hard thing to live without.
  10. Excellent suggestions Duke. I am purchasing several of them now. Pauln... Your are correct, I do love the guitar, but I am learning to appreciate the other music too. I have been hanging out on some of the smooth jazz streams at work and some classical feeds as well. Yikes... I am on my way to becoming well rounded... and not just from all the jelly dough nuts either. I do enjoy Mark Knopfler's music too. I bought a large collection of his music and Dire Straits online a while back. Good Stuff. Thanks for all the input so far. I do appreciate it. What a great forum. At one time, I used to know of a website that you could type in an artist name and it would give you suggestions on artist with similar music... Does anyone know of any sites that are still running? Brian
  11. yep, it does show all the info... I just did not read it all, error found[:$] I enjoyed the clip enough to purchase. thanks for the suggestion. Brian
  12. Larry Would that be Symphony No. 31 in D Major? I found several Symphony No. 31 in the iTunes music store. Thanks for the suggestion. Brian
  13. Since I purchased my Klipsch speakers. I am finding that I enjoy my music collection much more than ever. I have also discovered new artists and genres. I am curious what other here are listening to and what you would recommend. I like just about anything other than Opera or Old School Country Western. But then again, maybe I was never listening to that kind of music right either. I would appreciate your suggestions and opinions. By the way, if I could to suggest some of my favorites... Dire Straits Gov't Mule Greatful Dead James Blunt Joe Walsh Just to name a few. Thanks Brian
  14. Radio Shack is clearing out the Monster brand Quick Lock connectors for under $5.00 for a set of four. Not sure if anyone uses them, but I thought I would pass the info along. http://www.monstercable.com/productPage.asp?pin=1062 They might be better than just using bare wire and low cost. Just a thought... Brian
