  1. Hello all, Driving mcintosh 2500 amp and carver c-1 pre-amp. Denon 5 or 6 disk CD player and carver tx2 tuner. I think I now know what the warm mcintosh sound is-seems like rounded bass! the mc-2500 has an intermittent left channel meter. It breaks loose whan I shift gears and hit about 60 watts a channel. The amp seems to function fine other then the meter. The pre-amp Carver has a volume control problem at low levels very low the left channel cuts out. The balance control functions the same way. I seem to hear un-wanted distortion at high end signals. I will call it a phantom signal as i do not know if it is driven from source or power or pre-amp? And it may be just waht I am listening to. The Klipsch are unforgiving in original recordings, what it it was is what is! Not a bad thing but I hear some weird stuff on recordings I never heard with 901's. This system will drive to concert volumes as much as can be for a home system. I am not sure I should continue with the carver pre-amp. Yes it has issues as confirmed by myself as I gave my 17 year old daughter my Carver M1.5 AMP and the Bose 901's. I bought the C1 pre-amp and tx2 tuner off E-bay for her birthday. I hooked up the system with the C1 from e-bay. This system now kicks *** and it never sounded better! I think I have had a pre-amp issue for 20 years! What to do for the pre-amp ? Mcintosh or some other ? I look forward to the forum input as I am not sure what will give the best sound. I like the idea of the Mcintosh as it has an equalizer if you will! Talk to me ! Regards, The Wizard
  2. Those would sure do it for me if they were painted pink! You guys miss the point. How many speaker cabinets can you use to cut cheese or place your hot piece of pizza on. And you can use them in the Peterbuilt repair facility as wheel chocks and music at the same time! But then again the Wizard I am knows zero about most things but I am sure you could be-head chickens on them and not leave a scratch. You got to admit they are some what original. Wiz
  3. Captn, Any thoughts on a specifis qsc model ? Wizard
  4. Hello, I do not understand why some amps at 100 to 200 watts per channel can drive these rf-7s to extreme levels and my amp can not. I have 4 rf-7s and driving from 4 to 2. something ohms. It seems to suck all the power dry. It is loud and much better then my 901,s. Wish I was more tecnical. can not even charm the ladise any more. I think I lost my touch ! No more whining. Wizard
  5. Hello Skipper -- Captain Sir !!! I am not a fan of sub-woofers either. I have had the carver for 20 years and it always ran out of steam. I think it is the magnetic field design of the amp. This mac can be had at a good price and it has much better specs than the carver. Just not sure i should get it. I am thinking that a 200 watt per channel mcintosh is capable of driving these rf-7s hard. My 75 watt per channel Marantz seemed to have as much power as my Carver. I am trying to find info from someone to determine the carver specs vs a standard design power amp IE: with huge transformers, ETC. I just never seemed to have continuous power with the carver. So maybe over-kill at 500 watts but from my research it seems the mcintosh is a good way to go. On occasion I like to crank it to Pink Floyd, But my carver always lets me down, then I get pissed and wont listen to it for a week. But then again It is a huge investment since I need a mac pre-amp as well. Wizard
  6. Ok now you are making to much sense ! no, no and no. Very good points ! Wizard
  7. Hello Everyone, Love my 4 rf-7s not to happy with my Carver. 350watts a channel runs out of gas! Have a chance to buy a Mcintosh 2500- 500 watts per side. It is big and heavy and lots of cash! The only other I see that I am interested in is the Rotel 1090 . Not sure what the better match is but I have no way of auditioning them ! My current Carver amp and Carver pre-Amp does not give the bass response I want. Any thoughts before I buy the Anchor --mac 2500 ? And yes you tube guys, I know your thoughts. But I know nothing of your amps, I know nothing. Wizard
  8. Hello Indy, Fired up the rf-7's only 1 pair so far, Incredible compared to my 901's. I am not sure of the break in period everyone talks about. Is it 100 hours at low volume ? I pushed them a little and one thing I noticed was one of horns had on occasion a metal hiss or hiss or scratchy noise from it. Not sure if was the cd I was playing or ? Have not played them so loud to do any damage ! Another thing I noticed was I really like bass at low volume so I would like to ask if it is possible to obtain more bass with cahnging the pre-amp, or the cross overs with deang's, or anything else ? Do not get me wrong my carver power amp (350 rms a channel) and pre-amp never sounded so good. These rf-7's kick *** and my whole family is very impressed. But I know with all the experience in this forum that I can probably make them sound even better the ( rf-7s). I am not a HT person and I have been told I can hook up a sub if needed. Even IF I could not sure how, should it have its own built in amp, so on. I really do not want one I just want more punch at lower volume. I also noted that my pre-amp controls are scratchy. When I turn the control bass and treble knobs when no music playing you can hear that a little thru the 7's. Any recomendations on pre-amps ? The power amp works very well with the 7's. I am still confused how to wire the other 2 rf-7s. Per my manual from carver it says to run from the same 2 out put posts from the amp with additional wires. I have been told that this will run the 4 rf-7s down to 2 ohms and maybe a bad thing. The amp says it drives from 2 to 32 ohm loads. I am getting lost in some of this ! I am not an electronics person. The bass at higher level was impressive to say the least, I am now trying to figure out if my amp from everything I read will be more powerful in driving 4 of these. The specs say 350 rms at 8 ohms, 600 or more at 4 ohms and if I am at 2 ohms what is doing then ? Sorry I am writing a book, I never heard such incredible sound ! My wife of 27 years wears hearing aids. She can even notice how incredible the sound is. Money well invested If I could spend a million dollars I would to help her hear. I think Klipsch just gave her that. Any advise would be appreciated very much so. I feel like a kid in the candy store. All I can say is wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas ! Best Regards, Wizard
  9. Now hang on Mr Spinner, Mike knows what he's doing, Me I know nothing ! Get the extinguisher Alice.
  10. Hello, Mike. The amp is 350 rms per channel at 2 to 32 ohm . So is this ok with the parrallel wiring that you mentioned ? The darn tree is in the way so I can not split the 7's, Asked if we could put the tree in the garage. It was just a thought. I think the 7 's would look great decorated ! I am just a 2 channel guy who now has 4 rf-7's to hook up and i do not want to harm my christmas presents. My Bose 901's are not feeling any love from the thunderous rf-7's, in fact they are jealous! My back is sore from moving them! I feel like Atlas ! Ok my daugter helped me ! Bless her heart. Klipsch are a family affair ! My 2 daughters can really rock the house , or is it the ole man !!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Mike, I await your wisdom, and all others as well.. Can not wait to get home they arrived early by Santa ! Merry Christmas, to all ! And to all a Klipsch night. Wizard
  11. Don't laugh this is serious stuff, yes 2 channel only. Do I run seperate wires for each speaker and double up on the posts of the power amp ? I think this is right! But temporarily I need to put the rf-7's side by side with a distance of 12 feet apart, So 2 rf-7's on the left and 2 on the right. Can I run just one set of wires to each rf-7 and then run a short section off the rf-7 to the other next to it ?? Help me Wise one's !!!! The amp is a Carver . What is the ideal way to wire these ? Wizard
  12. Well dang nab it or was it gosh darn, what in the heck is a DEANG whatcha a gizzard ! got to love you guys I feel like I am playing my first transistor radio !!! Got some Bose 901's for sale anyone want them for boat anchors ? Now where do I get some DEANG'S ? Hope you buy them cause I know nothing ! And I am sure I do not know what to do with them when I get them. Teach me Klipsch guy's. Wizard
  13. Hello Speedball, How about the rf-7s and KLH-30's would they play nice together ? Specs wise ? I want another pair to play with the 7's just not sure I want a second pair of 7's ! Regards, Wiz
