And BTW Gibby if these are sold are you still going to visit here on the forum every now and then?

Roc, I know of a guy who has a pair of mint Forte' II's in the original boxes, but he is in Alabama. I think he wants $575.00 for the pair.
Jay
I really want to pick them up to avoid shipping damage and Alabama is just so far away. If you can give me his number or email address I can discuss it with him.
....and thanks for your help, I do appreciate it.

Looking for 5 or 6 Forte IIs, mint condition, oiled walnut, located within 300 miles of Baltimore, Maryland for immediate purchase.
Doesn't anyone have any forte IIs for sale? I still need to find 4 of them in mint to excellent condition within 300 miles of Baltimore. Somebody please.

What is the wattage, weight & speaker size?
-
I can't believe that not one person is willing to sell their forte IIs. Come on forte II owners, there must be someone willing to sell.

OK now let's talk subwoofer placement in a 22 X 21 room. Everybody says something different.
Dr HSU says a corner is good. JL Audio dealer says place it on the main speaker wall between the mains. Second choice in the corner on the main wall. David Griesinger (acoustical engineer) suggests a side wall mid-way down in his paper "Loudspeaker and listener positions for optimal low-frequency spatial reproduction in listening rooms".
I do currenty have two subs but they are quite different and I am not sure that the second sub that I have will actually improve the sound. I have my new JL f 113 (2,500 rms watts) which, of course, is my main sub. I still have my old sub which is a Velodyne C-120 (130 rms watts). The f 113 goes down to either 19 hz or 16 hz depending on who you check with. The Velodyne goes down to 25 hz.
If I only use my f 113 what would be my options on placement? 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.
If I try to use both subs what would be my options on placement? 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.
Come on EAR & Dr. Who I know you can help me on this.
BTW, have you two ever heard the song "Why can't we be friends?" by War? I hope that you guys are friends in spite of your differences of opinion. It's OK to be passionate about your beliefs just keep it friendly.

Roc,
Good show, just post smaller sizes.A 9000*7000 size ...I the JL logo on the woofer cone filled my entire screen. []
I'm not a computer guy. How do I change the photo size and to what size do I change it?

Thanks Cal.
You know it's a funny thing. I started with KG-4s as my first Klipschs. They sounded just great, so five months later I bought forte IIs.
Then in comparing them side by side, all of a sudden the KG-4s seemed to pale by comparison, not bright enough in the high notes and mids. So what seemed just great five months ago then seemed a little bit weak compared to the forte IIs. Its just my ears I guess.
Every day is a new opportunity. Maybe tomorrow, the forte IIs will show up for sale. I guess I have become fixated on them. Somewhere I read that the forte IIs were Paul Klipsch's last speaker that he was intimately involved in designing. I don't know if this is true or if that matters. My guess is that it does matter.
Fortes and forte IIs seem to cause quite an interest among a lot of audio folks. Michael Colter, why doesn't Klipsch bring back the forte IIs? I would bet that the market demand is high enough to justify it. Oh well, just dreaming I guess.

EAR, I apologize for suggesting that you were wrong on the frequency number. My info. was directly from JL, so you can see why I thought you were wrong. Apparently they do provide conservative specs. They list a 3" excursion for the speaker, when I discussed this with their engineers they told me that actually the excursion is more like 4".
As you know I have not been able to listen to my f 113 yet (line level deprived at the moment), so I am really excited about the 4" excursion and the 16HZ. I was a little confused when Dr. HSU listed the VTF-3 HO Turbo as extending down to 16hz while JL listed 19hz for the f 113.
I believe you. I can't wait for my new A/V controller with the line level feed so that I can power up the f 113. (gee.....f 113...........sounds like a jet aircraft)
BTW, how are you moving the JLs around in your room. I haven't listened yet but I am moving the unit around the room. Go figure. It takes me and my wife on our knees pushing it with all the muscle we have to just barely move it. They didn't add concrete for balast did they?

Sorry dp1954, it has to be forte IIs. My goal is to add 5 to the 2 that I already have in support of a 7.1 system.
Anyone out there know of any forte IIs in oiled walnut in mint condition for sale located in MD, PA, VA, WV, NY, OH, NC, DE, MA ????
I'm so desperate that I will offer a $50.00 finders fee if anyone provides me with a lead that I actually buy speakers from.

Now its too big again.
What's going on Mike Colter???????????????

Hey, now Janet's picture looks OK and I haven't touched it.
The wonders of technology. Apparently the computer interpreted the picture problem and decided to fix it on it's own.
Now that's progress.

It was a surprise dessert that the restuarant gave us without our asking or paying for it. A very nice touch and perfect ending to a memorable lunch at a landmark location.
God, even I don't remember the 1960 worlds fair. Has it been that long?
Janet is 3 years younger than I.

The JL f113 is a whole class above the RSW(even the RSW15) ,nothing besides mid-bass punch the RSW's are known for is even close.
As a true subwoofer the JL Audio will dig to below 16hz with real power in room,in fact it bests large SVS subs and matches ported SVS using dual drivers. In boxes several times larger...and ported! The quality of the bass beats anything SVS offers(even the Ultra)and HSU subs(their best unit).
Now comes real competition from the Velo DD18,this one is close in SQ but loses by a full 6dB below 20Hz! All this while costing more!!
Only real competition would come from Wilson Audio WatchDog and Thiel's SmartSubs(the two large units). And here they cost several times more.
All the pro reviews so far simply point wat I am saying since purchasing the first f113. It is a bargain in the high end sub market, yes even at $3200.
Give me a DD18 for $2500(half the retail) and the f113 for $3200 and I take the f113 and gladly pay. This should tell you alot about the respect JL has earned in a few short moths.
The JL f113 does list at $3,200 but if you are serious about buying a JL Audio product let me know and I can get you a decent discount from an authorized JL dealer. A good price can make the difference between buying or not buying their products since they do cost a lot but appear to be worth the price.
EAR, unless you have determined your frequency numbers by measurements, I think you are wrong on the frequency response for the f113.
The engineers at JL say that the frequency response is 19 - 200 hz. No big deal. We are all wrong at times.
.......and BTW EAR I have McIntosh equipment and eventhough my stereo amp. doesn't have a line level output that doesn't cause me to lose any respect for McIntosh.

Dr Hsu,wow he has a doctorate! WOW My father has one too, many many people have the title of DR so ....?Mr Hsu designs subs that perform well above the price range(as most under 1K are pure boom boxes)SVS and HSU makes good products,JL Audio makes BETTER products(they better,as they cost 2-3 times more).
You cannot hear the sub?! You are using what gear? Sesame Steer LP player? Rat Shack AM Flavoradio? Any quality preamp or pre/pro or even receiver will have SUB OUTS or a second pair of VARIABLE LINE OUTs.
The JL Audio is not a miracle product either,it is simply one of the most capable woofers mated to a very high power amp with ARO optimisation.Thing is it happens to best 99% of the subs on the market and so many that cost 5 grand and ...more,way more.
Doctor...heal my sub addiction ...no doctor can. [:'(]
Doctor Doctor, give me the news............................who sang that song? Robert Palmer perhaps?
I guess the song was written for the f113........I've got a bad case of loving you !!!!

It's an MC-2000.The tube bug bite me and would not let go.

You're right. It was too far to go & I'm not a gambler for shipping. It was just wishful thinking on my part.
I feel like you guys are keeping me in mind so I just have to wait. It is comforting to know some others are aware in case more forte IIs show up. Believe me I am fluid (IE. cash in hand) and prepped. This rolling stone will gather no moss.
Just so you know, the two oiled walnut forte IIs that I bought new in 1990 are also in mint condition. I don't think they have actually been touched by anyone since I got them. I dust them myself. Not one scratch or problem of any sort. They are just as they looked coming out of the box in 1990. I'm prepared to make some compromises because it is sort of unrealistic to expect to find 5 more like mine. But I won't object if I do.
I'm a big boy and have certainly handled more disappointments than this in my life.
........................at least these went to someone named "oldtimer".
