  1. That's awesome....Still probably a little out of my price range. What total setup are you going to have? What is the size of your room?
  2. The 5800s look great(and mostly likely sound great), but a bit out of my price range(especially for the application). I bought my whole reference set(used of course) for $1700 shipped(add $750 for deanG upgrades). I probably can't justify spending that much just ceiling speakers...and there will definitely not be a WAF for those....I was thinking around $400 for a pair with power. I spent $250 for the Emos and a Adcom GFA-5300. I guess my problem is that I usually buy used components and ceiling speakers are rarely sold used.
  3. I'm looking to upgrading my system to a Dolby Atmos. I currently have the original RF7s, RC7, RS7s and emotiva UAC 8.2s as the rears. I want to move to Atmos application by adding 2 more front-ceiling speakers but the emotivas are no longer being sold and I couldn't find a secondhand pair. Does it really matter which ceiling speakers I use? I liked thr emos because they have pivoting tweeter(and i picked them up for $112 shipped for the pair). Should I continue to look for another pair or try something else? Im not sure if matching timbre makes that much difference for ceiling applications. Any advice is appreciated. 4. Would it be possible to run the xpa5 to run the LF and have the tube run the HF. Would that even give me anything?
  5. I was wondering what I would be losing and gaining from moving my RF7s from an emotiva xpa5 to a tube(no idea what model-->budget $500 used). My Rf7s are used in my HT and for occassional use to rock the house during our parties... I would like more refined sound, but still want to be able to have the neighbors get ticked off if I so choose...
  6. 650 or better. PM me models and prices.
  7. I need to have them at least 3' tall in order to make them over the seating.
  8. Probably way out of my price range and definitely a WAF=ZERO....lol
  9. I don't think I want go cutting up my cherry speaker enclosures, but thanks for the info. Maybe I will just have to go shopping for some new speakers that are front ported . They won't perform nearly as well as my RFs(for sure), but the space is really not that big. I even considered in-wall speakers, but I'm guessing they will end up sounding like p00p....
  10. Damn....that's all I can say....where I want to put the setup is kind of a walking area and I think have the speakers stick out that far is gonig to hinder the room.....major bummer...
  11. Well....the wall that they would be installed in, would have an open cavity(it's actually underneath the stairs in our gameroom), but it probably could be ported to the main listening area.
  12. I have a pair of RF7s and RC7 that I was thinking of recessing into the wall to save space. Can this be done with little or no poor effects? How much space should the cavity be? Is there anything else I should know?
  13. Back on topic....so....it doesnt look like my rs7s are going to work mounted or on stands...and it appears that the in wall speakers dont like they will work either.....might just be leaving it as a 3.1 system as its been....also let me verify that my wife did not know the speaker stands were unsafe....I didnt mean to give that impression......
  14. I'm not sure in wall speakers will work, but I did consider it. The one wall is an exterior wall and it has spray foam insulation in it...
  15. I'm looking for speaker stands for RS-7s or some plans for building the stands myself. We moved last year into a new a house and my wife(for whatever reason) does not want them hanging on the wall. They have been in their boxes since we have moved and will probably continue to stay there until I have stands for them. We do have a 8 month old baby and I'm worried that she could pull them down on her(whenever she begins to walk which will probably be a few months from now). I still think it's better to hang them, but I guess they don't match the decor.
  16. This has been placed on fleabay....

  18. Wanted to price it to sell....time for an upgrade... If I can't sell it...I will probably just move it into our bedroom....though...It would be a waste to have it in there...
  19. Purchased in Sept 2010 so there is about 2.5 years of warranty left(transferrable) Pictures upon request.
  20. Here is the recommended list and reasons: 1. Epik Legend(499)* 2. Emo Ultra 12(429) 3. HSU VTF-2 mk3(549) 4. Outlaw LFM-1 Plus(549) 5. SVS SB12-NSD(599) 6. Rythmik RV12(529) 7. Elemental Designs A5s-300(550) *I put epik and emo would be at the top of the list because they are both sealed and he does listen to quite a lot of music. the epik would be able to push more air(in theory) because it has dual 12s versus emo's single. As I've stated, I've never actually listened to any of these subs, but I'm sure he will be happy with any of them(as others have stated). Thanks for all the responses and feel free to weigh in more on the topic. He probably won't be purchasing for a least a few weeks...
  21. I've narrowed the search a litte. I know some of these will eclipse the $500 mark, but they are all pretty close: Rythmik FV12 Elemental Designs A5s - 300 Emotiva Ultra 12 Epik Legend SVS SB12-NSD HSU VTF-2 MK 3 Outlaw LFM-1 Plus
  22. I'm trying to help one of my friends track down a decent sub to be integrated into his system. Here is what I know: His room is about 12' x 14' . I know he listens to a lot of music(mostly classic rock at insane levels), but is also looking for HT applications. His budget is $500. My suggestions were for him to look for a used sub because $500 doesn't buy a whole lot(outside a DIY project, which he didn't seem interested in). He didn't mind the idea of used, but would prefer new. I told him to look into epik, eD, svs, emotiva, but most of them are out of the range. Ideas? Models? Thanks guys
  23. I have what is called the RF-7 classics....what is main difference between these series(other than appearance)?.My classics have the deanG upgrade and I was wondering if I would be able to buy new drivers from klipsch and put them in mine. This is a theroretical request because the cost probably would be to high to warrant such a change. Also...would this 'hurt' any audio experience between the RF-7s and my RC-7?
  24. I do want the monoblocks, but I don't want the $1600 burden....but here's the catch 22. I'm going to have buyers remorse regardless...if I go with the xpa1s...the remorse will be from the amount of the purchase with minimal gain in SQ, but if I buy the upa1s...the remorse is going to set in because I'm always going to want to know about the xpa1s....DAMN THIS HOBBY....DAMN IT TO HELL...lol
